  1. If they could find a way to make me think a bit more in the KOTOR combat, I'm all for it. I felt it was the weakest part of the game.
  2. It's kind of funny though, because isn't it a complaint that publishers have sequelitis right now?
  3. I wonder how much of that Tourism is soley from the US though.
  4. Wizardy made it to 8, and Ultima made it to 9. Oblivion is Elder Scrolls 4. I never thought I'd see someone call out for developers to curtail their creativity.
  5. The combat is functional, but it is rather boring. Especially in KOTOR, where my "tactic" was to hit '1' really fast so that I could spam Flurry. I didn't find the combat challenging, and it suffered from the usual problems that come with automatic combat...way too much standing around. If the combat was actually challenging, then it'd probably be a different story. I remember knocking Sion down to zero health and triggering the conversation after a single Flurry.
  6. So your false accusation was somehow my fault. Gold! If I actually did quote, then it actually would be an issue, because then I would have actually misquoted you, which means that your complaint about me misquoting you would actually have been a valid one. I didn't directly quote you, because I wasn't referring directly to your post.
  7. Sulik may have been limited (I think his model was unique). But again, I'm pretty sure that the reason you can only let him use melee weapons or burst weapons is because the designers wanted it that way. I'm pretty sure that Ian and Cassidy still had weapon restrictions on themselves as well.
  8. Well, cortosis is a material that cannot be cut by a lightsaber. Actually I think technically a lightsaber coming into contact with cortosis is supposed to deactivate, but I imagine that was scrapped for playability.
  9. Err, I am pretty sure that the weapon restrictions was a design decision. It may have affected a mod or something, but it makes more sense to me that the animations weren't included because they weren't necessary, as opposed to weapon restrictions being put in place because there's no animation. Besides, aren't people like Ian, Cassidy, and Marcus still using standard models for themselves?
  10. When it comes to a combat system that is not automatic, I prefer the the character skill not be taken into account for determining a hit. It is bizarre feedback to clearly see an arrow hit a guy right in the face, but for some reason you still "miss." Though I don't mind a widening of the crosshairs and having ranged shots appear in there somewhere with some randomness, but with melee it look awkward (and silly IMO).
  11. I love how the monitors and computers are interactable right in the main game engine. I thought that that was a nice touch.
  12. Trust me, he skips the werewolf. In any case, I think this is the first time I can remember where someone said they liked KOTOR's combat more than another game.
  13. Hence what? If you recognize that I wasn't quoting you, then why did you accuse me of misquoting you? For your information, there was a post from Gabs proclaiming Fallout to be dead as well....and it came shortly after yours, but still before mine. Hmmmmm.
  14. Given you already answered it, I'd say yes.
  15. Not yet. Though my games will likely implement the Strategy Design Pattern
  16. He says it like it's a bad thing.
  17. Errr, just to clarify: Strategy Pattern
  18. Not too many people join organizations that they don't believe in.
  19. I said "AS WE KNEW IT" was dead. Get the WHOLE quote next time. FO3 will not be the same feel, mood or play style as FO 1/2/FO:T <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LAST I CHECKED I WASN'T QUOTING YOU
  20. Well, a good design should implement as many design patterns to limit coupling as possible. I just implemented a Strategy design pattern today
