  1. Well, I mean if you want to split hairs, any demo can last for as long as I keep it in the game. Which would still invalidate astro's point.
  2. Hehe, the Bone Spider is a Large Construct and the Iron Golem is a Medium Undead.
  3. I don't know if I'd consider shareware to be a demo perse, though I guess it could be seen as one.
  4. You know, it'd probably make sense to compare two games made by the same people.
  5. I always thought that alts were typically no-nos on all servers.
  6. I've yet to see a publisher not put it on their own website.
  7. Well, neither of those would be "older games" that had 5-6 hour long demos. I felt that Dungeon SIege 2's demo was rather short actually. I don't recall Dungeon Siege 1's demo. I only remember the first demo of Farcry as well, but I died frequently. If the demo lets you play as long as you want, then what's the limitation of the demo?
  8. Actually now that I think about, what game had a demo that lasted 5-6 hours?
  9. Says a non-newb. I'm sure there were plenty of people that found stuff like the radial menus somewhat clunky. I doubt they'd add the option if they felt it wasn't prudent. And besides, it sounds like an option, which is no real skin off my back.
  10. Just sounds like more options.
  11. I remember reading up about an interesting experiment for creating a Biosphere. Sounds like a common theory at the moment is that we'd have to create one in space, and perhaps use a sail to harness the solar wind to get speed. The beauty about space is that once you have some speed, you don't really lose it very easily. But it would be a loooong trip, and would require a self contained Biosphere. The only experiment I know of was Biosphere II which ultimately required oxygen to be pumped in from the outside.
  12. Heheh, I'm in a bit of a crunch at the moment, and my facial hair is definitely thicker than normal I liked how the EA University Liasion opened up his speech at my University: "We turn pizza and pop into video games."
  13. Hehe. 1 hour no matter what, win or lose Well, I guess you could win it in less time.
  14. IIRC Mars has ice caps that would be useful for oxygen and water. I believe the moon also has water at its poles.
  15. All of the RPG games that I play.
  16. The combined mass of our asteroid belt is less than the mass of our moon. I remember thinking the same thing as you with respect to the Asteroid belt's usefulness, but I did a report on colonizing the solar system in one of my Astronomy classes and it was quite an eye opener. Ceres is the largest asteroid, and it has a mass less than 1% of the moon. IIRC the numbers indicate that the combined mass is about 1/30 of our moon.
  17. But evil IS good for hire...isn't it?
  18. I enjoyed Terminator 3. It was on TV just the other day and I watched it with my roommate. Good fun.
  19. Looking forward to it. I like the fact that the toolset is less "rigid" in its interface.
  20. I'd say the limit of n, as n -> infinity amount of magic.
  21. That's the big thing. I think the only reason why we think the older games are longer is a combination of no saving, in addition to being poorer game players. I mean, if you think about it, all of the Mario games for the NES were made to be beaten in a single sitting. In fact, most NES games were made to be beaten in a single sitting, unless it was a bigger game that had a battery for saving the game. I don't consider games that can be beaten in a single sitting to be "long" games.
  22. Didn't feel like going for the Quad Core
