What do you mean by *had to* install? You got a popup message from the WM installer, that it will not run or something similar? Before I got myself the expansion I already had all of the previous patches and hotfixes, but that was before WM showed up. Now there are two patches, and no instructions to them whatsoever. Yes I kept getting messages that my version was not compatible etc - could not install WM until I installed all the patches/hotfixes I had neglected to install previously. I thought it was rather odd - my experience in the past (with BG for instance) was that each new patch/add-on already contained any prior patches thus it was only necessary to install the most current one. Perhaps the reason for it is because each platform (GOG/Steam) handles the patching process differently.

Don't know for certain but when I installed WM I had to install all patches that had not been installed (including two hot fixes) before WM would install.

I had one crash a few days after changing to Windows 10 - none before and none since (GOG version) Have disk version on my laptop which has never crashed.

I played BG2 for about a year and a half before finishing the first time

I for one hated the whole buff/debuff nonsense of every mage fight in BG2 - nothing but busy work that would end up taking you back to the start.

The game plan is that White March 2 will be about the consequences for the way you played Part 1 - so no cliffhangers just more content more story reacting to your input. (or so I heard) (ETA winter? spring?)

That's going to be tough for a while with WM and 2.0 just being released a week ago and 2.1 due to come out in another week or so.

Haven't had that issue yet - there was another thread talking about this and one answer that made sense was stun/CC them first...

Is this with a full party?

The patch is available on GOG. Note that you will have to install any patches and hot fixes you have not yet installed including 2.0 before installing the expansion (on GOG)

Why that would be positively stunning!

During the Kickstarter Josh mentioned that the ONLY areas that might be scaled to your character/party level would be in the main questline so that people would not be punished for their choices to do or not do side content (which makes up over half of the game) - However I don't know to what extent they may have (or not have) followed through on that decision. They did know right from the start that they were doing an expansion so one might surmise they took this into consideration.

Well in that case I guess the specs of your main character are not really part of the character either so maybe we don't need the respec at all -

It's supposed to be about the consequences to the choices you made in part 1 - I'm thinking this is an excellent reason to have multiple saves with different choices ready when it releases but then again I am a chronic restarter so I would have this anyway

:shrugs: I'm not much into the number crunching myself but one good thing about the nerf for me is it encouraged me to try something else (which I had never done before for Eder who is the only fighter I have ever had in a party.)

I spent several hours this afternoon just clearing a single map which included several unique items. added into the original game area? (Or do you mean an expansion area?). Any new content beyond items in the original areas? (conversations / NPCs / quests (whether related to White March or not) / etc?) This was a new expansion area - have not spent enough time in an original area except to note the new rest bonuses in stronghold.

Speaking of this - if I had a tier with both a digital and boxed copy of the game (currently 1 on desktop with expansion 1 on laptop still 1.06) am I expected to purchase separate expansions for each?

At the keep for one place - each of the merchants there has a button for respec so perhaps all merchants do.

I had only taken one team to the start of Chap 3 (none any farther) so this start is perfect for them and works for all the other teams I have scattered about in Chapter 2 as well as the brand new team I started last night. I have no issues with it - reminds me a lot of ToTSC.

An add-on adds something to a game and a DLC (downloadable content) adds something to a game. What's the difference? There's no acronym for add-on -
