All are great ideas! I think i would like to go with DW effect-on-crit build. With Frenzy, is it safe to say MIG can be lowered to 14? With Greater Frenze can get +6 MIG? But hat last for like 12secs. One of my gripe is that many of the cool abilities are only 1 per encounter. Are there any items that can increase it to at least 2 per encounter? Building Barbarian seems like one of the most difficult one for me as i seems to want everything . Dual Sabers? But Against immunity, I'll need a pair of Warhammers? If let's say i have Resolution and enchant it with Corrode, does it deal dual damage? Or only the Damage from Corrode gets applied? I've been checking many Barbs builds posted here and i couldn't find one that i like yet. Most go with Sword & Shield. I have no idea why though. On a separate question, regarding companions. Any way to regulate XP from swapped members? I'm not level 9 (almost 10) for my Ranger. Initially i have Kana, then i swapped him for GM for doing a quest. Then i realize when i get Kana back to my team, he has far more lesser XP than my rest of the existing team. I don't really like why Obsidian is doing this. It means i would not be able to swap other companions later.

@Moneo I have look at Dwarf before but I kinda like a taller character. I find it weird Elves are shorter in PoE. Aumaua too gigantic so i generally choose Human instead. Maybe i should have go with Aumaua instead. But those race bonuses does add flavors but somehow also restrict one's choices. I'm playing all my PT on POTD. With Per of 10.. i think i'm going to hit wind. Starting of the game with 18 Per i'm fightling like a baby. @Mosspit Thanks for the suggestion. I did check out your build. It looks really interesting. It's just that i wanted a DW and 2H build. Is there such a thing? I wante DW Warhammers and the other set using 2H Tidefall. Are there such a build? I wanted a fast hard hitting Barbarian but it seems i can only choose one. Either DW or 2H? That is why i couldn't decide. @Boeroer Not a big fan of Unarmed because of animations. I know everyone will defend Obsidian saying they are "indie". But Obsidian should really improve themselves on their animations. One of the best Unarmed animations were in Diablo 3. Obsidian animators should look at the Monk class in Diablo 3 how awesome are their animations and possibly what concept on the skills and talents on how cool a monk can be. Lower Might and pump Dex? Can you suggest me Stats distribution? @Braven The reason why i have low Dex is because i read somewhere there's a skill that reset recovery if you down an enemy and that's why Dex can be dumped. As i mentioned i'm totally clueless about Barb that is why i'm starting one . Do you mind sharing your Stats distribution? I'm going to redo my Barb.

Heya. It's me again. I'm kinda greedy. I'm playing my game slowly with many builds. So far i have a Dragon Thrashed Chanter (Level 9), Stormcaller Ranger (Level 8 ). I wanted to build and try a new character which is Barbarian. I won't be abandoning my character i'll play whichever character i want depends on my mood (yeah i sounds strange). I have no experience with a Barbarian at all. I did google and check out some Barbarian build but i'm still unsure what i want and how i wanted to build one. It seems i can only choose either a hard hitting CC Barbarian or a Dexterous fast hitting Barb. I'm not sure which one is more fun to play. Here's my starting character. Hope anyone can shed some light on the Stats distribution? Mig - 20 Con - 9 Dex - 9 Per - 18 Int - 18 Res - 4 Meadow Folk, Living Land Colonists. Ability: Barbaric Yell Should i dump Dex completely? Or should i dump Mig? If anyone be kind enough to suggest all possible Barbarian builds. I did saw a sword and shield Barb but i'm not looking for a tanky Barb. I can't decide between a 2H Barb or a DW Barb. Appreciate if someone can share some insights. Thanks!

My Dragon Thrashed chanter i went for Crucible for that +2 DR and Shame or Glory. I think for melee, Shame or Glory i needed Pallegina to be on front line. SInce i'm not a ranger, is there a marking Pistol? I like Pistol more than Blunderbuss / Arquebus. The -10 ACC penalty is just too steep. I have Pallegina wearing the Forgemaster gloves though. Sadly, i have no slot to waste for Pallegina for her to take Scion of Flame... yet. As for Bittercut, i keep hearing about it. Is it a good combo for Eder DW Saber? Resolution + Corrode enchantment = Profit? Gonna jump back to my Chanter build heh. Since Pallegina has always been a support role, i normally go towards full support for her. Taking Lay on Hands and Exthortations. Did anyone build her offensively?

Rangers have high accuracy, so your DPS would be higher I think if you took the Doemenel's quest to get the Merciless Hand talent. The soulbound Stormcaller bow is most powerful with a ranger, and it has the added bonus of dual damage types, and also being one of only two weapons in the game whose damage is boosted by an elemental talent, in this case Heart of the Storm. This is the basis of builds such as L4wlight's Storm and Plague Caller ranger. A stormcaller ranger is great if you have a druid in the party, since the bow also lowers shock DR, making spells like Returning Storm and Relentless Storm even more devastating. Yeah i'm aware of Stormcaller. It's the build of this guide no? Now that you mentioned i really cant make a decision now. Should i go for +5 ACC or Doemenels +0.3 Crit? I wished Boroer can just help me decide. Hah I do notice Ranger damage is so "meh" compared to Dragon Thrashed Chanter though. Maybe i haven't get the Heart of the Storm talent yet and the bow of course.

I'm in exact opposite as the poster though. I'm loving this game so much that when i go to sleep i still think about the fights :D. I think i love the gameplay more (especially combat) more than the stories though. I did notice about Fireball fast casting though. For 3 PTs i have yet to use it once if not mistaken. The damage is low and yes it has huge AOE. But i don't use it an opening to combat (is that allowed by the way)? Because enemies move too fast and i noticed most of the fights are about buffing, debuffing, protection spells, carefully placed AOE, nuke and single target DPS. In other words, i dont have a single chance to use fireball though. Else i'll be nuking my whole team. Every opening i start with Interdiction. I think i have it wrong. Because of the 9.8secs duration i should only cast it when my characters already engaged in a fights. There are far more prioirity spells i love for 3rd level like Kalakoth's Minor Blights, Llengrath's Displaced Image and DAoM. I like the flavor of Arcane Dampener though but its situational and you really have to know the area well to have it scribed to the spellbook. Now that i think of it Kalakoth and Parasitic Concelhaut are really cheese of PoE :D In other words, i like to see Fireball and Crackling bolt and similar spells to be improved in Deadfire like the afflictions i mentioned and not just bland damage. Fireball has been one of my favorite spells in many fantasy RPGs.
-
I kinda agree on some spells like Fireball and Crackling bolt. It just deals pure damage and it's low (at least Crackling bolt has higher damage). I rather in Deadfire that Fire damage are Fire Damage and Burn/Freeze are DoTs. Spells like Fireball should have DoT like burning and afflictions? Burn - Flee/Frigthened Freeze - Slow movement/action but higher Defense Shock - Stunned Corrode - Weakened

Then why in nine hells are you a backer, if devs opinions don't carry any weight with you?Yeah, see, I have the freedom to back whatever the hell I want, so .... Had no intention to suggest otherwise. Just expressing my astonishment at seeing someone who generously funds a project led by a team he doesn’t have a trust in. I believe having trust and disappointed with certain decisions made by Obsidian are both different things. I'm greatly disappointed with their decision in party size limit reduction but that doesn't mean i don't trust them.

I think many of you need a chill pill. As i mentioned i didnt follow this thread at all and after i saw Ydwin portrait which i greatly dislike. She doesn't look feminine to me. Part of her eyes and the hair suggest that she looks boyish. I have no problem with trans people. I'm just asking a genuine question if she is indeed trans. Last but not least, gave no bait nor start no war. I'll rest my case. I'm far more concerned on 5 party members llmit than Ydwin. Plus, i don't understand what happen to this thread? Why did i want this thread to die? As i mentioned i didn't follow this thread at all.

Currently level 7. Loving the Ranger helluva lot! Seeing the multi-class options in Deadfire, has me salivating for it! Haven't started WM for my Ranger and she's crazy good!. Also the first time battle against the Feral Druids, the Twin Stones from Hiravias totally decimated them!. That was satisfying. It seems for a Ranger to shine, it needs both Kana and Pallegina. The Coordinated attack + Sure Handed Ila + Perception gear (+3). I'm not sure how high my ACC gets. But without coordinated attacks she already has a base of 69 (with Pallegina ZF). With Brilliance it can go up to 79. Was planning to side with Dozens to get the +5 ACC boost instead of Doemenels crits. Is that a wise choice? One of the thing i hated about Ranger i hope in Deadfire they can have bows that deal dual damage? Pierce/Crush sounds reasonable with Powershot. Currently i have to resort to wands for Crush/Pierce. Is level 7 or level 8 a nice level to go WM? I may need that Stormcaller soon :D. I had temporarily abandoned by Dragon Thrashed chanter (Level 9). But they are also a very powerful team all thanks to Boeroer :D Edit I'm getting greedy. I was thinking about Sure Handed Ila + Dragon Thrashed. Is there such a thing? . currently i have Sure Handed Ila + Lo, Their Endless Host, the Harbingers Doom. I really like these 2 synergies. Only problem is there a gap that i may not have perma Sure Handed Ila.

Sorry the first page did not explain on how recovery works and there's so many pages and i'm not sure where i can find those information. I'm interested to know how recovery works. I do know that armor has recovery penalty (the heavier armor you are wearing). How about shields? Durance is abit tanky in my team. I have him wearing similar breastplate (-40% recovery). I need him to be a bit beefier so that he don't gets targeted during fights. But i notice the recovery is quite slow when i'm equipping him with a medium shield. Does shields contribute to slower recovery? How about their sizes? Small, Medium and Large shields? If not mistaken the description did not mention about recovery. I tend to use small shields as it has no penalty to ACC.

The interesting thing is: this was the initial intent for PoE1. I remember finding pieces of old code with percent-based "Damage Threshold" in the source. And I am curious what was the flaw in that system, that made Josh abandon it. And regarding that answer on stream: My first thought was: Oh yeah, on the 2nd run I will And will build a character with just enough penetration. Also remember when Obs were saying that there will be [hard_hitting_weapons with low_penetration] and [low_hitting_weapons with high_penetration]. I have a feeling that with enough meta-knowledge experienced players will be able to get the best of both. And if not... devout's bonus to penetration will help find a way. It gets me thinking that the new system is about ACC and Penetration in Deadfire vs ACC and DR. Penetration is better since you will deal minimum damage (30%?) compared to not dealing any damage at all? Yeah let's not derail this. Hopefully there are more details coming soon this year. +1 for pinning this

Which portrait are you talking about? In the latest one, she looks like a serious no-nonsense Victorian era professor/schoolmarm or what-have-you. The only thing boyish about her is the short hair. The discussion has been meandering more than a river going along a floodplain, so, only the last few pages probably matter here since Ydwin is going to be in PoE2, not returning in some expansion or whatever the title is referring to. I was referring to the latest revealed portraits from Josh twitter if not mistaken. Yeah i agree she very much looks boyish to me (of course it's my opinion). I like her concept art more during the Fig campaign though. So i'm asking a genuine question if Obsidian is indeed making her "trans". Why are people so offensive here?

@Seredflios I recall playing the original Divinity Original Sins many years ago and the graphics were really beautiful. Saying that 2D background and art looks more beautiful than 3D in 2017 is plain wrong. I would say that going 2D budget-wise would be more cheaper for Obsidian and they could focus solely on delivering the content and gameplay. I love seeing the game in full 3D just like Wasteland 2. I've seen couple of screenshots of Wasteland 3 and it looks outright gorgeous. Going 3D doesn't mean i want a first person game. Hell no. If i want to play a first person RPG game i play The Witcher. I don't really care if the PoE3 will be 3D or not. But i'm not sure without considering technological and visual jump, how can they improve the game further in terms of gameplay and content in PoE3 (if it's going to get make one day)? If it will be more likely the same, it's hard to retain the score of 9/10 crown.
-
Seeing that Deadfire, many of the assets are 3D do you think PoE3 (if it's ever get made?) will go fully to 3D environments? Earlier days everyone used to argue that they love hand drawn environments as they were more beautiful. This is true when 15 years ago where the graphics and visual technology weren't good enough.

I bought DOS2 day1 but has yet to install it. Still playing PoE and having so much fun. However, i'm grateful seeing the success of DOS2 as they are setting the bar higher for good old RPGs and that will discourage lazy devs and no cutting corners from Obsidian. To get an average score of 8.5 - 9 on critics or reviews for Deadfire, Obsidian really need to deliver and excellent sequel which includes quality content, gameplay, depth, memorable experiences and replay values. Hoping they don't drop the ball on the release by saving some of the quality content for the expansions.
