Ranger Main's, how often does your pet die and how do you minimize it?
Items: - Shod-in-Faith boots - on a char who is near the pet most of the time (also see Riptide build). - Lost Periapt of the Winding Path - same - scroll of Moonwell and so on Cipher: - Pain Block - cast it on the pet - Going Between - same - Defensive Mindweb - if you have a real tank in the party your pet will be near unkillable Chanter: - Ancient Memory - Beloved Spirits - Kindness chant Priest: - Triumph of the Crusaders - as long as the pet kills enemies, it will get insta-healed. - Consecrated Ground - if the priest is near the pet - Watchful Presence - Watchful Guardian - Crowns for the Faithful - +25 RES, meaning +25 deflection - Shields for the Faithful - another +25 deflection - Circle of Defense - +15 to all defenses, stacks with the above - Armor of Faith - more DR without speed loos is alsways good Paladin: - Lay on Hands - best single target heal like zeldagaiden said - Reinforcing Exhortation - +25 deflection, doesn't stack with Shields for the Faithful - Zealous Endurance - more DR is good, doesn't stack with Armor of Faith Druid: - Nature's Vigor - not only heals, but also raises endurance by +15% - Nature's Balm - heals faster, stacks with Nature's Vigor - Moonwell - heals and raises defenses by +10. What are the most powerful classes in 3.03?
Vicious Aim also works with some of the ranged targeted spells - as does pen. shot. But it's only the +20% damage that gets applied. Another great ability for scoll casting is everything that speeds you up, esp. Blood Thirst. But there's nothing that beats a rogue who casts Combusting Wounds + Missile Barrage + Deathblows with max DR bypass.

[CLASS BUILD] The Mad Hornet (dps ranged rogue)
I didn't try it in the last few weeks, but normally it should work like this: Shift (hold it) + click target no. 1 then click target no. 2 and so on - then release shift. If it doesn't work OBS may have changed the queuing. The processing of the queue also stops if one of the targets you clicked on dies or changes sides (charmed or dominated for example). If this all doesn't work and queuing is broken then you could retrain for low micro: dump INT to 3 and don't take Envenomed Strike. You can then wear the Hat of the Diseased Yak (RES+2, INT -1) or the Ultimate Hat of Alluring Perfection (MIG and CON +2, RES and INT -2). This will leave you with 2 or 3 INT. You can put the points from INT where you want. Low INT is perfect for wounding damage and also Runner's Wounding Shot. It applies the same damage than with high INT, but in much shorter time. If you keep firing at one target, Deep Wounds with low INT is no problem because it gets refreshed after every hit. Unfortunately Envenomed Strike is bad with low INT (damage increases with INT) so we skip it. Such you would turn the multiple target Mad Hornet into a single target Dumb Hornet. Micro would be near zero if you don't get attacked and if others provide afflictions for your Sneak Attack and Deathblows. Persistence also works against pierce immune targets: pierce damage will be blocked but wounding still happens.

The only one handed weapons with marking are Shame or Glory and Cladhaliath. This is the oneand only setup where you can dual wield marking weapons. Or you use the Helwax Mold to clone one of them of course. It's a good question if this is better than Outworn Buckler. I guess it depends. A darcozzi paladin with dual marking could buff a single ally's ACC by +46 - not bad at all. On the other side - +5 to all defenses (stackable) is also a good thing. Charming with Munacra Arret and Sworn Enemy is fun and works on any enemy who is not immune. The +10 feom the spell itself, Zealous Focus, Sworn Enemy and Distant Advantage (with Wood Elf) add up nicely to an ACC bonus of +38. I did not miss once as far as I can remember, not even dragons. @MaxQuest: if you have Strange Mercy (and maybe Inspiring Triumph and maybe Executioner's Hood) you will have to steal kills. It's not that hard. Just support your people until an enemy is nearly dead, then strike. If you kill somebody with FoD you will trigger two heals - most of the time this would be overkill, but it can be a real lifesaver if an ally's endurance is very low. Actually, I did a "mercyful" Executioner Paladin build with Strange Mercy, Sword & Shepherd, Spectacular Spetum, Coordinated Attacks and the Hood plus Insp. Triumph. It worked quite well. I didn't do a whole playthrough with it though.

When you give double Bittercut to Riptide you are taking away the whole base of the build. The ranger is supposed to do wounding damage for his pet in order to trigger Predator's Sense all the time. That's the reason he must wear Tidefall in my build. An alternative would be Drawn in Spring or Acuan Giamas. Both come late, Tidefall is early. Dual Bittercut would be really good on the cipher. Use an Island Aumaua and don't take any ranged or switching talent. Instead, use the Coil of Resourcefulness from the first map of the White March (Russetwood). It also let's you quick switch. Then use two pistols or blunderbusses to fire two quick shots for good focus and then switch to dual sabres. You won't lose any talent points. Lady should be MC. She profits the most from the story talents.

I thought so. It's easy to mix up because of "duality" - especially if you play a translated version.

Well, you sell everything you find to Heodan. He pays a lot of extra money, way more than any other merchant. So every potion and item you find you should sell to him before you fetch Sparfel's Waterskin. Then you should have enough money to make a beeline to Gilded Vale and recruit 5 additional adventurers. It's best to hire asap so that the exp gap to the MC is very small. Exp gets spreaded evenly. If you have 6 party members every member will get 1/6th of the exp you gain. So, obviously a solo char wil level more quickly than a whole party. But there's enough content in the game to level up 6 guys long before the end of the game.

Until you get the Blade otEP you could use The Spectecular Spetum that you can buy early at the Salty Mast (Vincent Dwellier). It also has marking, uses the same weapon focus as the Blade and also is a two hander.

Yes, there's a fine arbalest for example that you can get without a fight.

Duality of Mortal Presence - ability or talent?
You don't need wounds for it. It is not an active skill like Knockdown or Force of Anguish. It's a defensive modal with two options: You can either buff deflection (option 1) or the rest of the defenses (fortitude, reflex and will, option 2). It's always on, no resources needed. It's an ability, not a talent.

If I got it right he wants to use Stormcaller with the chanter. It's a nice combo if you don't want to give it to a ranger or a cipher. Chants would be Sure Handed Ila (also helps the monk) and another chant. Could be something short in order to speed up the phrase count, could be burning lash.

For the Witch Doctor I like female boreal dwarf because the Maegfolc Skulls doesn't look so ugly on them. It's quite small on a female dwarf's head. And boreal dwarf is one of the best races in my opinion. In combination with the hater talents that I used with the Witch Doctor it's the best option in my opinion. Coastal Aumaua would also be ok. Hearth Orlan for Riptide is a good choice - if you attack as a team you will cnstantly have 10% hit/crit conversion. For switching cipher I would surely go for Island Aumua. One more gunshot is worth a lot. Wood elf ranged chanter is good. Your paladin doesn't need to be the MC in order to gain benefits from Faith and Conviction. It will scale with level if he's not the MC. It's not that much of a difference at later levels. And hirelings don't suffer from the wrong disposition of the MC - so with a hireling pala you would be on the safe side. Talents like Gift from the Machine and so on may be better suited for the Lady of Pain or the Witch Doctor. The Witch Doctor likes a lot of MIG as does the Lady of Pain.

Combusting Wounds + Alacrity + Expose proc + two projectiles with Blast is nice.

That is absolutely right. If it looks crappy I don't use it. One reason why I don't use Drawn in Spring too often... The White Crest armor + helmet + White Spire look so good together and are also good items by themselves. I love that combo.

Bear is just weak. Antelope is better. But for me it's wolf or stag for the win. Great damage if you know how to use them. Pets are no good at tanking in my opinion - unless you can provide constant healing - then they are god mode tanks because they have no health and defenses + DR don't matter that much. Another reason to think about the Kind Wayfarer paladin + somebody like Riptide who uses Shod-in-Faith plus a chanter with Ancient Memory + Beloved Spirits. Durgan Steel shortness is another reason why the Witch Doctor can be great. He uses his fists and as soon as he has two wounds you want to summon The Long Pain (lvl 7 ability). It's so good and you don't need durgan steel. I'm really confused that so few people use this ability with a monk. One of the most powerful things in the game in my opinion. Another nice setup for a melee ranger + pet is Tidefall + high survival in order to get max flanking bonus damage. Since you can always engage and flank together with your pet, you'll get all bonuses all the time: Appr. Sneak Attack, Predator's Sense, Merciless Companion, flanking bonus (up to +60% with camping bonus + item), Stalker's Link, Stalker's Torc. You and your pet combined will do tremendous single target damage.

As far as I know the damage of wounding is based on the weapon damage minus DR (?) while elemental lashes are based on the weapon damage before DR. But don't quote me on that. When you reach 0 recovery Tidefall is better in terms of DPS. But with Drawn in Spring it's way easier to reach 0 recovery - even with a shield. Persistence, Drawn in Spring and Tidefall are indeed the top dps weapons for their style (two handed, one handed, bows). Maybe Bittercut+Spirit of Decay is still competing with Drawn in Spring even after the sabre nerf. Blade otEP can also be better if you have trouble reaching 0 recovery. Generally speaking wounding is the best enchantment for DPS. And the side effect that it triggers Predator's Sense is also great. But as others said damage isn't necessarily the most important thing. CC and disables generally are more important in my opinion than pure damage if you can process then reliably. It all comes down to your chars, yourparty comp. and how you play.

It profits twice from MIG because MIG influences the weapon damage (wounding damage, like lashes, will get calculated based on your damage roll) AND MIG also buffs the wounding "lash" itself because it's a DoT effect. This is unique. Elemental lashes and wounding don't influence each other. Elemental lashes have to overcome 1/4 DR, wounding is raw damage. No DR involved as Jerek said
