  1. Ah I see. Sorry for the wrong interpretation. You chose some builds that are rather diffcult at the start and become really strong later on. The barb is the best example. He is a really awesome tank later on but at the start of the game he's way too squishy to be a main tank. Barbs have a weird "power curve". I guess the Thundercat can also fit in that category, same as the priest. Those are superawesome after some levels, but at the beginning they seem to be a bit underwhelming. They simply lack those great spells which they get after some levels - which turn the tide.
  2. + I really like it that the pictures of my companions change appearance (gear and stuff) when I talk to them. I really like the gestures, too. + I love the start (conquest and all). - I totally loathe the art style of the 3d-characters and -items. But that's my personal taste. Looks MOBAish and also looks a bit like Torchlight to me (which i like despite that look). The environment is nice though. - I don't like the pace in combat. It's too slow for my taste. + I like the talents and the talent tree so far. It's more interesting than PoE's. + I really like it that there are no classes. + The in game infos around game mechanics seem to be way better
  3. Of course a party with official companions is stronger against Maerwald: those chars are one level above hired companions! That is a huge advantage so early in the game - way better than a few minmaxed stat points here and there. Besides that, you can easily use official companions for most builds in the list if you don't follow them too slavishly. Then there are builds in your list that start pretty weak and then start to take off rather steeply, liek the Golden Dragon. He's squishy in the early game like all barbs are - you can only use them as "real" tanks after some levels. If he drops too fast early game you need to give him more CON and retrain later. The Drake's Ambassador is another example: he's a pretty ordinary chanter until lvl 9 where he will soon climb the "damage done" ladder to the top. Kana can be played as this build easily: you will have the beneift of a higher level plus his companion quest and his constant cheering. The Engineer Fighter is a tanky, defensive fighter with lots of self heals. How do you manage to get him killed after all? You can use Edér for this build. The Fire Priest (use Durance) and also the Thundercat are extremely good builds, too. If you can't kill Maerwald with a complete party on PotD (and esp. those you mentioned above) then I can only say (no offense) that you're doing something very wrong - it should be easy even with a party of 6 complete moronically build chars. I guess you're just using the wrong tactics - and on PotD you need at least some basic ones. Especially if you go to Maerwald with a lowish level - he has a lot of offensive spells that can kill you quickly if you expose your whole group. Standing there and let Maerwald drop one spell after another onto your head will get you killed, right? So for example summon a minion from a figurine and quickly leave the room and take a stand right around the corner after the doorway. You will see that the fight is a lot easier then. So I assume it's not the chars that lead to your defeat (because I played at least each of my builds on PotD without any problems - some of them even solo!). After Act I (which usually is the toughest part of the game) they start to become so powerful in their own ways that the game is a joke in terms of difficulty most of the time if you have them all in one party. I predict that if you improve your tactics you will see that the Maerwald fight is easy. And calling other's builds "complete garbage" is not the best way to get help by the way - since the guys who wrote the builds are likely the same ones that stick around to help people in need and give advice.
  4. I have to figure out a way not to get knocked over before those self buffs work, true. A bit of pulling is ok though I guess. Triumph of the Crusaders is also really nice solo, but it doesn't help you a lot if your health score is 0. Maybe one can figure out a trick with Second Chance + Watchful Guard + Barring Death's Door - if it's not possible to get up defenses quickly enough.
  5. They have no character builds subforum on the tyranny board. Count me out! I mean the forum, not the game. Maybe OBS should really open such a subforum here. Or we open one ourselves. Back to the cipher: any progress? I'm still leveling my pike wizard. Don't think he will be good at this but who knows? Kaylon already tried chanter and did it with barb, you tried cipher. Maybe priest next?
  6. In order to stack with Wild Leech you have to cast every Leech on a different target I guess. Tyranny is fun so far - although I hate the style of the character models - looks like Torchlight or some MMO or MOBA. I hate those, too. The mechanics are a bit different from PoE. First of all, the combat feels sluggish compared to PoE. At the same time the talents seems to be more interesting. And it's kinf of a classless system, what I like.
  7. Would it speed things up if you multibuff with Wild Leech perhaps and then use the damaging powers? If you're lucky you can stack PER, INT or MIG and not CON, RES or DEX. And what about Antipathetic Field? Is the damage too low? With boots of speed one could maybe run away a bit so that the enemis follow in a straight line and use binding web + stag helmet so that you can run through but they can't move a lot? The range is quite awesome. It's so stupid that Amplified Wave and similar "target an ally" stuff like Ectopsychic Echo doesn't work with charmed/dominated enemies.
  8. And since Amplified Wave doesn't work... Did you try retaliation + Ring of Searing Flames + Pain Link + Wall of Flame once they start hitting you in melee? This should give you some nice extra AoE DoT damage, even if they are resistant to burn a bit always comes through.
  9. Borrowed Instincts followed by Whisper of Treason. You can use Munacra Arret, Ring of Changing Heart (no ACC bonus for dominate, but faster) and Spirit Spiral in order to cast Whisper/dominate without focus. That way they will not put all the hefty spells on you and you will have more time to gain focus and use the powers with more impact. If you manage to charm like three or four priests sometimes the druids will kill them with Sunlances. Defensive Mindweb should give you the defenses of the dominated enemies - those don't suffer from debuffs like chamred do. It's still tricky. Wait - I don't know if Reaping Knives works on mind controlled enemies. I think it doesn't, but it would be kinda funny.
  10. Kana does just fine with this build. Pre lvl 9 I use Come Sweet Winds or Wengrith + Hearts grew bold mostly and also the fear chant. I will start to look into Tyranny just today I guess - if my hardware isn't too slow for it. I'm still playing PoE. Atm I'm doing a solo run with a pike wizard. Killed Helig yesterday...
  11. After lvl 9 you chant Dragon Thrashed only. The damage of overlapping phrases stacks. Then you can use any invocation you need. But it's even better to just chant and lob a fireball if you must. An invocation will pause your chanting - casting a fireball not.
  12. Don't forget to add the adra spheres with "additem <blabla_adra_sphere_objectbundle_name> 2" (or is there a way of doing this without them)?
  13. My congratulations! Well deserved I'd say.
  14. Sking said it in his posting you quoted: so far only the Ogres in the initial fight in Stalwart seem to be affected.
  15. Hi my fellow PoE class builders! Tomorrow, Tyranny will be out - and the official forums will not be hosted here (which is a pity) - so I fear this place will grow really quite. Before the tumbleweeds take over, I wanted to say a few things: First of all, I wanted to thank all of you fellows for your great participation in this subforum. I think you all did a great job. Not only were you creative, but also you colaborated and invented new things together, shared great ideas, discussed a lot of complicated and awesome stuff around the game, unveiled mechanics (and weird code ) and explained even the most obscure stuff in a way that everybody could understand it. And you always tried to help newbies and veterans alike. Then I wanted to thank you all for the awesome atmosphere. You created a small but very valuable place in the internet that was (and still is) gentle, polite, most of the time objective, sometimes very funny, respectful, interesting, intriguing and warm-hearted. I guuess if all people on earth would behave like you in this forum, the world would be an even more awesome place as it is now. Sure, we had some small disturbances - but we solved them in a calm and polite way when possible. Totally hate-free it seems. And that is magnificent! Then I wanted to thank all the people who contacted me directly via PM and wrote all those nice things (I don't want to go into detail). I mean seriously: nowadays, who takes the time and writes letters to a stranger with such nice and warming words so that said stranger sometimes struggles not to whipe his eyes with a napkin (yeah, I'm a sissy, I know... a big, bearded, 6.3 ft tall sissy that is )? Again, thanks for that. I really appreciate it. My wife just recently said "And you get all those nice letters because you write weird nerdy stuff in a computer game forum?" So yeah, that's it basically. I really hope somebody will stick around after tomorrow. I still have 2 or 3 builds to post. Fraternally yours and lots of love Boeroer
  16. Is my memory fooling me so hard? I would've sworn up and down that they stacked. But I don't think OBS changed that recently. So It must again be my swiss-cheese-brain.
  17. Huh? That shouldn't be. Last time I tried a tanky cipher (remember the Wild Leech stacking with over 50 DEX I talked about in another thread?) it stacked (3.03). It should stack because Psychov. Shield only raises deflection while Borrowed Instincts raises all defenses - they should be in two different categories.
  18. It also stacks witt Psychovampiric Shield. Yes, the chanter with scrolls is much easier than without.
  19. Sure it is. But a paladin is a healer. And one of the best. Besides that - Veteran's Recovery/Constant Recovery help a lot, too. Concelhaut's Siphon is also good healing, but only for the wizard. Barbs have Savage Defiance, which I would always recommend. It's superstrong at the beginning and still good later on. Blunderbuss is actually not a good choice for a paladin because of the way lashes work. The multiple pellets with low damage lead to multiple lashed with low damage that all have to overcome burn DR. So, it's only good against soft targets with lowish DR. Pen. Shot and so on don't work with the lashes, only with the direct pellet hits. Because of that, it's better to use an arquebus, Firebrand or dual weapons like Resolution + Purgatory. Sworn Enemy + FoD will give you +35 ACC which often leads to a crit with FoD - so annihilating can be good. Most of the tie I find an Island Aumua with Arms Bearer, Coil of Resourcefulness, three arquebuses and war hammer is nice. I also always use the Outworn Buckler. 2 FoD Shots with burning lash, Intense Flames, Remember Rhakan Field and Scion of Flame and 1 Runner's Wounding shot (the +80% also work with the lash damage of the weapon) do a lot of burst damage. Then I switch to support/tank mode with the buckler. If you want to have high MIG and INT you should also think about Envenomed Strike to help with more dps. It's totally independent from weapons' damage. Only ACC, MIG and INT count.
  20. Damn it, I forgot Mob Justice. Cladhaliath is the best weapon choice I think. With the dozens you get it early, you get +5 from spears, +4 from Coordinating enchantment and also Mob Justice. Good point about cloak & breastplate. Multiple paladins with marking/coordinated attacks: I don't think so. If it was was stackable, you could never make sure the two paladins don't buff each other and not the third ally. But I never tested this. You can stack coordinated attacks +marking with a coordinating weapon. Do multiple Inspiring Exh. or multiple Insp. Radiances stack by the way?
  21. Ok. I just want to set the rules. So without stronghold items to keep the thing "pure" solo.
  22. Hm... another paladin with FoD + Swotn Enemy could indeed be better than Tactical Meld + Borrowed Insticts. But if the cipher can manage to get multiple Wild Leeches on PER he's still better.
