  1. Well Fampyr is more like a lich in this game anyways. So I think the point is moot.
  2. At first I thought the title was "Chrono Trigger Durance..." That amused me more than it should have.
  3. do you have one game on expert mode? I noticed sometimes expert mode changes my settings outside expert mode
  4. This seems to be the majority opinion. Why is that? The Crucible Knights are buying souls (which seems like an evil incarnate type of thing to do) and planning to use them to make a golem army to keep the peace which seemed like a sufficiently bad idea that I sided with the Dozens who just seemed to be mostly harmlessly stupid. (The Doemenels were, um, unavailable.) Really, how could the stealing souls to make a golem peacekeeping army plan not go wrong? Well, I never even attempted the Doemenels, but for all the crucible knight's authoritarianism and how they use animancy I just simply cannot get behind a reactionary group that's let fear lead them around. Maybe they enslaved a few souls, and maybe they were really stupid about the golem thing. But fear mongers and reactionaries have caused more suffering in history than immoral scientists. Really wish there was some fourth option. Maybe have the sanitarium as it's own faction? Or an anti authoritarian faction that isn't just giving your authority over to some grandstanding ideologue.
  5. Yeah Vancian magic was always a pretty crap holdover from D&D. There's a reason that it's the only pnp game that currently uses vancian magic.
  6. I thought they all sucked but the Crucible Knights are the lesser evil I think. I am getting tired of the "everyone is terrible" trope that seems to be populating a lot of rpgs these days.
  7. I would say that they should make it so that you can wield pistol and one handed weapon in same weapon slot pair, but make it so that reloading pistol needs both hands and you get single weapon accuracy bonus with one handed weapon. Because it would give something special for pistols over arquebuses, as you can save half of weapon slot so to speak by deciding to use one instead of arquebus, but losing some damage potential. Although allowing such thing would need some changes in mechanics so that you can determine which weapon in the pair you want to use. Letting you attack with both one handed weapon and pistol same time so that you can also reload pistol same time would make pistol maybe too good, although that could be solved with giving accuracy minuses such pairing, but that probably would make it become unattractive choice at the end. Basically pistols could be a single opening shot for melee bruisers. And fittingly, that would make for great rogue's. An opening eyestrike with a pistol and move in close with a saber to get in a sneak attack. With a high enough might that'd probably finish off many mobs.
  8. I hope not. I have never liked romance options in games.
  9. I think people get too caught up in the specifics. While it may be based on America it isn't a laundry list of things to represent.
  10. I think he means the infinite stash. As far as that goes I kind of agree. I know they don't like things like encumbrance but I think it adds something to the game.
  11. I happen to like custom companions. Though I think it might be better if instead you hired from a roster of generated generic companions. The whole point was so that you could spend some money and have a mechanics or survival expert on somewhat short notice. Which is a good idea it deals with a lot of frustration and it makes designing areas a bit easier.
  12. That's really reaching. The civil war was not primarily a religious war (it only barely was religious do to some propaganda). It was pure economics on both sides. The saint's war is more like the crusades then anything.
  13. I find this scenario funny, after all this work the Leaden key does the secret gets out anyways. And the public's response is almost universally a resounding "meh". Since they technically still exist, and they do give powers, it just doesn't seem like authenticity is that big of a deal. The conspiracy would probably do more harm then anything.
  14. I actually quite liked Segani myself. Sure she wasn't as bombastic as Kana or as well written as Durance but she just seemed like the kind of person you could sit on the back porch drinking with. Her and Eder both on that front.
  15. yeah, maybe a mod to knock quest experience down a decimal place would be much better.
  16. What was oddly prevalent in the regular game was all the damned roads that went nowhere. There's one leading west out of Magran's fork. One leading north of the eastern woods. One leading west of that one woodland area right after the opening dungeon. I went over there and was like "what's over this way" got to the map screen and found out "not a damn thing". It also looks like you should be able to go west of Anslog's Compas.
  17. Are you sure the guy in the middle was Sly Cyrdel? There's another party hanging out at the Statue Magran after taking out Raedric, I forgot his name (something the wayfarer).
  18. I agree with that at the end of the day. I think it should've just been Fighter, Rogue, Mage, Priest and Cipher this time around. Cipher's only because they're kind of relevant. To have those and focus on them, would be much better. Maybe some of the other classes can come along as NPC only classes, but that way they could focus on the player classes. Maybe have NPCs have their own specific levelling paths so they retain some of their personality in their abilities.
  19. Have a special mode where, instead of being able to build your hirelings your ground up you have randomly generated hirelings for the Attributes = 4d6 drop low Skills Specializes in 1 and has a few points in another what you see is a short description that gives the level, a reference to your stats (ie Hardy for high constitution) and a their skill info. example; Cunelegn, A hardy Level 3 Mercenary Rogue from the Living Lands, Specializes in Mechanics with some skill in lore. This would be optional (of course), basically adds a sense of randomness to the whole thing. Each day would generate an arbitrary number of hirelings for each level. Their two skills and background would be random but there class would be based on comparing their stats to the recommended stats. So, while someone might have a high attribute that isn't common for their class, they would usually be suited for their class.
  20. I guess, maybe a swashbuckler? Like a monk but instead of wounds they are based on countering from a successful deflection? High deflection and accuracy, low side of medium for everything else. Their deflection resets (with a damage bonus) each time they land a hit but they can choose to spend it on powerful counterattacks. Basically think a more "active" dps tank if you want to use those terminologies. They could even have a class ability that reduces the accuracy penalty for shields.
  21. Yeah in order to actually support when you see him you actually have to go talk to Osya first and say "Well can I help" That's silly....
  22. I found it hilarious in close combat, when my high-def fighter was methodically reloading his arquebus with absolute zen calmness while angry mobs were desperately whaling at him from all directions. I could see that breaking immersion hehe
  23. It's no Ultima 4 but it's a great IE like. I also really like the world.
  24. It already is a sandbox game. Compare it to say, Drakensang, where most places besides Ferdok you can't revisit after you complete it's main quest. Maybe we have different definitions of sandboxes though. I really cannot stand being railroaded in a crpg. I can understand it in a jrpg because that's their modus operandi. But even then, in ff6 I rush to get out of the world of balance for that reason. I guess I can explain what I think would make an interesting game is to have the main quest be introduced from many different angles and in a way that would feel very natural. Even if it's not necessarily the gradual reveal I was talking about before. IE I felt the hollowborn epidemic and the leaden key's plot to stifle progress was way more important than my "condition". But I always forced to ask about it.
