Update #101: Update 2.02 is Live
srlapo replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
You should, for some reason Galaxy will ignore any manual patching done to the game. It just patches over it again, so once you go Galaxy with a game you need to stay with Galaxy or reinstall. -
The Grieving Mother
srlapo replied to Alexander1's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Assuming anything she said or showed the Watcher is true. The worst kind of liars are those that first convince themselves of a lie. Since they believe in that lie there is no way to tell if they are not telling the truth. GM is this type of person by her own admission, and with her cipher powers added into the mix there is no way to tell if any of her memories have any truth in them. For all we know there was no village, no Birthing Bell, no midwife job and she actually is a grieving mother that keeps lying to avoid facing the truth of her own Hollowborn baby or something like that. Several things fail to check out about her own story as well. She is not old enough, if you add the years since the Hollowborn Epidemic and the fact that she delivered children before that incident that she kept connected to well into puberty/adulthood, plus the time needed to be old enough and train to be a midwife she should be 60+. Also the "special" connection to the Watcher... while the Watcher gets the impression that he can do anything to her with that connection it is in fact under GM control and she can cut it off at any time forcing the Watcher to instantly forget about her, as it is shown in a certain quest near the end of the game if the "baby juice" option is selected. -
Ah, bummer. I was in a hurry, used that option and the quest didn't update after killing the dragon. I guess that save is on hold until it gets patched out. Anyone knows if the beta 2.02 patch fixes this?

OK, tried the 6 ranger party and it is hilariously OP, at least at low levels. 6+6 characters will overwhelm most of the encounters in the (early) game. And since the animal companions only have endurance the typical frontline health attrition doesn't exist. Piercing immunity was a problem against some enemies so I gave everyone scepters as a backup ranged weapon. We'll see how it holds out at higher levels...

The Grey Sleeper
srlapo replied to Theorycrafter's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
It is a nice weapon since it works with any class and can be upgraded easily. Be careful about who pulls it out, unlike the other soulbound weapons you can't sever the bond it and give it to someone else, even after upgrading it fully. -
Unpatch to older version, is it possible?
srlapo replied to Gs11's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
And recovery works in Your case? What ver. You have if I may ask? No, it doesn't work. White March Ver 2.01 from GOG. -

Yes, I could swear that wasn't the case but I was wrong, the description still mentions the recovery. -

Are you sure that's a bug? the description no longer mentions the healing part so it looks like a nerf. -
Role of fighter?

Well, there is... erm... and... eh... Nope, got nothing. They are decent front liners. Jack of all some trades, masters of none. -
Update 2.01 Beta is on Steam
srlapo replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Ah I've always suspected that GOG patchers must be doing some serious diffing, because the patches are so tiny but they take ages to apply. Unless you use Galaxy... White March part 1 was a 5 GB download, not including the 2.0 patch. -
POE Modding sites.....
srlapo replied to qwert_44643's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Wasteland 2 is being moved to Unity 5 to address this very problem (the editor is free for Unity 5) . We can only hope that PoE will eventually follow. -
Romance Packs DLC
srlapo replied to GadgetSun's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well, really, it's not that big a deal if it's in there. Those who have no wish to explore that path with a companion need not click on anything remotely marked as a [flirt] and they will never see the content. There's room for both choices in these games, and that makes them more enjoyable to a wider market. Which isn't to say that only sad and lonely people play games for the romance. Some do like the roleplay aspect and do not self-insert, so it does add to the story and helps indiviuals to possibly relate better to the companions. I only have an issue when that's the only way to do so; friendship content should be available to anyone that earns it, and not just those that are sharing a bedroll. But in a game like this, I still hold with it being better for there to be only minor flirting and a promise to consider more when the bulk of the save-the-world adventure is over. Keep anything else to an epilogue slide. We don't need a fade-to-black sexy cutscenes in every game, I do agree. And it's not a big deal to include a space combat minigame. If you don't wish to explore that path you can simply avoid any option marked as [buy spaceship]. One is genre-appropriate and one isn't. Your syllogism is faulty, yo. Hah, you never played the first Ultima game, right? It had a space combat minigame and it wasn't optional, so while unusual it has been done before in a fantasy RPG mainstream series. -
white march news
srlapo replied to Gromnir's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Why would a pacifist want a soulbound weapon? Soulbound Healing Shiv? FF XII AI making system? We can only hope... Back when FF XII came out a lot of people complained about the AI playing the game for them but no one complained about it not working. It was a card/slot based AI building system where you specified conditions and responses and listed them based on priorities, so if two or more conditions were fulfilled the AI would perform the one with the highest priority. This "make your own AI" system plus the AI OFF button and the current controls on POE would make for an awesome combination. I kinda expected something like the old infinity games, pick the AI package from those available plus a few extra options and roll with it. -
Mac OS X: No Capes/Cloaks
srlapo replied to Lasweetlife's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I recall seeing a developer post in another thread about this... The third party plug-in they use for the capes only works in Windows. It isn't a "bug" in the strict sense of the word and I don't know if they can "fix" it without redoing the whole system that handles the capes. -

We are only missing a barbarian, so I guess it could be some sort of monster. As long as it isn't some sort of rainbow bear... -

No news on a third companion yet? I recall seeing something about that in that card game kickstarter...
