I found that chanters make the best immovable objects for this game. Their chanting abilities are on a timer, not tied to dex, letting you dump that stat. And at higher level they set their foes on fire just by invading their personal space, so their damage isn't tied to dex or accuracy. What more can you ask? As for high dex tanks, if you are planning on using heavy armor then your attack rate will be slow anyway, at least compared to the rest of the team. You are better off with a riposte/retaliate build than with high dex.

1.06 Hotfix Live on Steam
srlapo replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Sure, it can be disabled. And it is not implemented yet but choosing what version you want will also be an option for those that disable auto update. So even if you update to the latest version you will be able to roll back with a few clicks once that is implemented. We are talking about GoG after all... -

Thanks, I wouldn't have known otherwise, because it hasn't been announced yet. Gog Galaxy updates the game automatically. -
1.06 Hotfix Live on Steam

The GOG update is live. -
It is useful only for tanks right now, and reflex is the least important defense thanks to the shield talent adding the shield bonus to that. Ranged users dump perception with the current system, that is counter intuitive. Someone mentioned that perception was once used to add to accuracy early in the beta period? Not sure if that is true, but if it is then this change could be a simple regression that slipped by.

Upgrades disappeared
srlapo replied to shinysquirrel's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Upgrades can be destroyed during enemy attacks if you don't deal with them personally. You need to rebuild them. Check your keep status windows periodically just in case you missed a warning. -
1-2) Fampyrs attack the person most likely to fall for their charm so there isn't much you can do to prevent it, your entire team can't be strong everywhere. You need to work on a counter strategy, either disable the fampyr before it can fire off the charm or have a counter to the charm (paralyze or a charm or dominate of your own) ready. And not all dominate/charm attack will, sometimes they hit other defenses, so even a character strong against a type of charm can be affected by another type easily. That is why enemies that charm or dominate are the most difficult in the game. 3) Yes, replay value and all that. Don't worry about it, you are not missing anything critical. Just make sure someone in your party maxes out mechanics. 4) As for attributes, the checks can go up to 20, but most are 16 or below. It is the same as point 3, choose what you want to play and don't worry about it, the checks aren't really important. They just reinforce the perception of the characteristics you have chosen for you character. And sometimes you get a nice alternate quest resolution or some reputation points, but nothing really major.

Durance's story and endgame
srlapo replied to AndreaColombo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I take it you got the bad ending for him. In the end it isn't about redemption, it is about personal insight. -
Potential HP bug after resting
srlapo replied to NoxNoctum's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I have seen some odd extra endurance after a level up, but saving and loading the save game seems to clear it. -

Durance's story and endgame
srlapo replied to AndreaColombo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
He wants the Watcher's sight and insight to see if he can figure out what is wrong with his relationship with Magran. And he is too proud to tell you because it would be admitting that he is lost and needs help, something he probably can't admit even to himself. So he joins to "judge" you. Yeah, not really. -
Auto Attack Not Working

I can confirm this really annoying bug. -
Insane attack on stronghold loop
srlapo replied to abaris's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
I had 3 or 4 stronghold attacks in a row once. I also had games without an attack. Not a bug I guess, just a few unlucky rolls. -
PoE review at RPG Codex by Decado
srlapo replied to Drath's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Why is it that people keep saying that loot is unimpressive? This is a low/mid level adventure, it won't be filled with +5 tapdancing vorpal swords of brutal godkilling. I am surprised that some of the items are as powerful as they are when you find them (cough, obsidian lamp, cough). -
Least Liked Companions
srlapo replied to Primislas's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Chanters make great sword and board tanks. Not because they are particularly great at that role, but because their chants are not affected by dexterity. You can just dump dex to three and focus on maxing out deflection with little consequence to their chant/invocation offensive and support abilities. I usually just stick to the chant that creates an aura of damage while I am charging up for the summon and then switch to something with a bit more bite, like Dragon Thrashed/Wailed. They are the only class that makes tanking less passive and boring. Back on topic, I am surprised that Durance gets so few votes. The poll isn't the best written character, it is the least likable one. Durance is both. Him and Aloth get my vote. My only regret is that the blood pool will only take one.
