That is why there are MANY difficulty settings. It allows for enjoyment for most player types. If you think food consumables break the game....simply don't use them. There is ZERO chance a dev team will meet every single player type's gaming want, need and desire. I would say they gave it an excellent try though.

Unless your going fir a RP playthru forget the Companions and build your own adventurers. Sell Guan's Pledge to Heoden abd rush to Gilded Vale asap. You will lvl 2 and build 5 npcs. I have ran a 3 Ranger, a Barb and 2 Druid setup. Pallys are not needed. 3 Resilent Bears and the Barb can hold the line.

The name has little meaning in reality, since people have been calling those of different cultures "barbarians" since the times of Rome. Plus, with the fact they are "fantasy warriors" you can justify praticaly anything, including they using their powerful brains to project telekinetic waves of force from their weapons. I, however, prefer the simpler explanation of careful positioning and disciplined rage. I do not oppose making Carnage independent on INT, I am just trying to point out why making it rely on Int is not stupid. If the class had any name other than Barbarian or Berseker, then I doubt people would care so much about that. OMG.... you're part Barbarian aren't you?! I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to offend you.

Now I am unsure what you are talking about. In order to hurt foes effectively, or even hit them at all, you need technique and precision. Brute strenght does not cut it if you have neither. And when you want to do so against many foes, you need a lot of finesse to be able to pull it off. You can just jump into the fray swinging your greatsword blindly, but in that case you would most likely either kill yourself or break your own blade against the hard parts of an enemy's armor. And I don't see how blind, stupid rage would let you pull it off with no discipline or technique. Focused anger, however, can help sometimes. Barbs are fantasy warriors. They are based on rage not discipline or technique. Hence their name.

Not my fault they choose that name for the class. But nothing stops angry people from being intelligent. Plus, if the only reason Barbs hit many foes at once is because they sweep their weapons REALLY wide, then why can't fighters or paladins or just about anyone do it?I wouldnt put "angry people" and barb rage in the same category. Of course fighters get angry as they are trying kill with a sword. A barbs rage is beyond that. Its what splits them apart.

Int should not determine all AoEs. Carnage is a perfect example of why. I get they were trying to balance the stats to make them all useful.... but Int being the basis for carnage? wtf? That's just plain old dumb. Period. They should try another avenue with carnage. Or possibly combine it into Frenzy as the base Barb skill at creation and make the range level based and give them a new class ability, possibly something totemic.

After putting a late night into the beta, I really didn't see much of a difference in the WM with my cipher. Borresaine was still racking up my focus and I was ripping off spells left and right. Amp Wave was used in most fights. But maybe because of enhancements from the patch to my other characters I wasn't noticing an impact. It does seem to, at a glance, screw a solo cipher.

Like the Act III scaling option for high level parties. Like the Faith and Conviction changes for NPCs. Like the Recovery changes. Like the Chanter upgrades. Don't Like the Ciphers downgrades....why? No really.....why? -
Well.. I was thinking maybe it was like the ring that suppresses afflictions. It doesn't stack with the spell but it does the same thing. In the case of the Cloak I was thinking maybe a Fighter who wears it can pick a different ability instead. Allowing for more build customization. But if it stacks...
