I actually enjoyed Avatar more in 2d. Actually, every movie I've seen in 3d has been better in 2d. Even... Piranha 3D?

LOL I actually fell for your misdirect here.

Very VERY good point, Bruce.

Obsidian currently working on next-gen console title
Walsingham replied to funcroc's topic in Obsidian General
I for one don't want Bethesda's bug-ridden foundations anywhere near me and mine. I'm currently stuck unable to complete Skyrim's DLC _OR_ Fallout 3's DLC because of bugs. -
LOL. "My freedom house is bigger than your freedom house"

Adobe compromised completely by hackers?
Walsingham replied to Walsingham's topic in Skeeter's Junkyard
I disabled flash, because of the security issues, and to be perfectly honest, I don't miss it. If I need it (rarely) I use a secure proxy. -
I assumed this.

Interesting. I'd have thought - logically - that it made sense to signify the target/object first. But nevertheless, you have the air of a man who knows what he's about. I'll give it a go.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeiW_bWZ2Is A beefeater giving a talk about the Tower of London. I like it for two reasons. 1) It's very funny 2) This is precisely the style and tone of most Army training I had. Thought you might be interested.

When girls get really thin. You know, the ones in the magazines? They get hairy. It's the body desperately trying to retain heat.- 526 replies

By the sound of things Gromnir should try Iranian stews. Similar flavours at work.

I find it weird that this even got to a legal state; as I recall you'd mentioned that your grades were wrong on the transcript which should easily be sorted out by the teachers involved. And if they're not available the dept. chair or dean. IIRC schools are obligated to require their teachers - for accreditation - to have 7 years (or is it 5) of grade books in case disputes arise. The grade was changed... however the termination and probations that the grade caused were not rescinded. Basically the answer I got was that they won't rescind the fact that I was terminated, or on probation, because that's how the grades worked out at the time, and even though the grades were wrong, that's my problem not theirs. Exact words were The LAS Academic Standards Committee cannot "change history" regarding the academic record, and so the dismissal notation will remain there. Point being that they are quite correct. They cannot misrepresent history. It is precisely for this reason that you wish the record corrected.

It is a matter of eternal surprise to me how little actual work office 9-5'ers actually get done. Blue collar - ****loads. White collar - **** all.

I think there's another point to keep in mind: rebellion. There's a different pattern in - for example - Pakistan and Britain. Over here we get jifs emerging from supportive moderate middle class professional families. This is pure speculation, but my guess is that the little bastards get to adulthood and suddenly find out that only mummy thinks they're a special manly snowflake. So they embrace a fascistic message that puts them in special touch with God. Not a million miles away from Breivik, ironically.

If Obsidian kickstarts a space opera RPG, would you back it?
Walsingham replied to Arcoss's topic in Computer and Console
I can't speak for computer games, but I used to be involved with tabletop. I know for a 'fact' that Waddingtons used to buy up IPR just to prevent competition with goddamn Monopoly. -
Why should anyone be required to speak out against terrorism? Almost every time this topic comes up, the inevitable "moderate Muslims need to speak out against this" comment is made. Do we need college students to speak out every time some deranged twit goes on a rampage? Should all Catholics of Irish decent have had to apologize every time the NRA blew something up? Why the hell should someone who did not do the act of terrorism be required to apologize and/or condemn the acts of another publicly? Do you people think the extremists really give a **** whether or not these people wag their finger and call them ****? It must bother them quite a bit. Because even when a little girl did it, they freaked out.

I agree that we can't take blame off the individuals, but their actions are validated by a supposed holy book. A book can't validate anyone's actions. Humans can, holding a book. I'll allow that a religion which has a martial tradition has an easier time justifying violence than one without. But I simply can't conflate the good men I've known who are muslims with this ludicrous death-cult bull****.
-
I'm not trying to have a go at you. Maybe you don't have any options. But you need to find a better place to work. You'd be a lot happier.
-
I'm not denying that there are muslims who point to the bits of the holy book and say "I'm supposed to be a child-killing bastard. Says so, right there, dude." I don't blame the text. I blame the c*** who went looking for it, and was happy when he found it.

Your job is both a source of security, and it shapes who you are. If you can't believe in what you're doing, if you can't trust your employers not to shaft you for pennies, then what's the ****ing point? You're just playing a very boring kind of Russian roulette.
