There are choirs were the removal of one's manhood was required to preserve the voice. I believe they were called the castrati. I'm not kidding. And certain religious orders often called for celibacy. But the Jedi code isn't based upon God, or some notion that sex is a sin. By forbidding love and marriage outright, the Jedi set themselves up for an Anakin situation in the making. The Jedi get their guidance and strength from the positive energy the flows from all life. They should love and respect life more so than anyone. Let them rejoice in life. However, as Jedi they should be careful to not be ruled by passion. Everything in moderation.

Fortunately, I do not think that having a "lower" level character that is a mentor for you is considered designing the game stupidly. Nor would I consider starting you off at level 1....since it is indeed just an arbitrary number. Spellmar says: ...designing the game poorly. And Hades is a writer. For shame!

I think with a few tweaks, the SPECIAL system could be quite good. Sawyer seemed to be doing a good job of that until Van Buren was cancelled.

Anakin sure defended the whole concept of Jedi being able to love. I thought the no-love thing was silly for Jedi. It makes more sense to say they should strive to keep all things in perspective.

If you need to break for food, that's fine. On Friday, I'm free all day. I work graveyard shifts, and like to sleep in considerably on my days off when I can afford to. So early day is unlikely. From afternoon into the wee hours of night I'm free. What about everyone else?

I heard a story that when Brando was in The Score, it took five times as long to film his scenes that anyone else because he was constantly drunk, abusive to the crew, and refused to acknowledge the director directly. He referred to the director, Frank Oz, as Yoda, or puppet-boy. I've never found Brando to be a great actor. I'd take Pacino over Brando any day.

Spiderman 2 is to Spideman 1 what X-Men 2 was to X-Men, and more accurately what Superman 2 was to Superman 1. In fact, the whole story rips pages out of Superman 2, which isn't bad. Superman 2 was one of the best superhero movies of all time. Spiderman 1 had a really silly script, and a very silly villian. The costume was horrible. The dialogue was horrible. Tobey Maguire pulled off a really likable Peter Parker, and the first movie had it's moments. The second movie fired on all cylinders. With characters firmly established, there is a lot more going on. There is more at stake emotionally for Peter, and a much better villian this time around. I didn't mind the subway scene. My only beef is I wished the fight was slightly longer. We have two heavy-weights duking it out like only superheroes can. Raimi had no qualms taking his time with characterization and exposition. He cut the action a little short, but what was there was quite good.

I think Orson Scott Card is one of the best American authors of all time. His Homecoming series is pretty lack-luster, but just about anything else he has ever written had been fabulous. He wrote a modern version of Sleeping Beauty, I think it was called Enchanted. That was more of the Fantasy genre, and his Alvin Maker series is quite good. It's Historical Fantasy. I loved the Worthing Saga, and I enjoy how many of Card's books don't have black and white villians and heroes. I'm not sure if Card is better than Vonnegut however. And I highly recommend Card's Maps in a Mirror. It's a collection of his short stories. There is a story in there where Card wrote a prequel to Asimov's Foundation series. It's quite good, and draws an interesting point in comparing the two's work. I bought Maps in a Mirror in a big hardcover edition many years ago, but I hear there is a smaller, cheaper trade paperback these days.

After walking away from the board and nationality arguments for a few days I feel immensely better. And I'd like to say Happy Birthday to this country. We don't have 2,000 years of history, but we've endured a lot in a short period of time. We've made a few mistakes along the way, but we are young. I think people often forget that. He's to the next 228 years.

That may be the case, but what I read is that Revan's fate will be revealed. I think many have inferred that to mean Revan will appear directly again. I'm not sure.

Atton is supposed to be wrong about everything though. I think Atton should suggest that Bastilla is dead, and then later you find Bastilla and Atton goes, "oh, that Bastilla. I thought you meant someone else."
