  1. I was thinking to myself the other day: "Self, if I was a pixilated personality looking to score, this is the crew I'd want to hang out with!" Even Kreia's got her own little disgruntled mystique going on... Atton, Di, Visas, Mira: lots of digital eye candy. I have too much free time. Or too much time that I spend as if it were free, anyway! Cloris
  2. Those Sith wouldn't even have known that you existed if Atris hadn't staged your return to Known Space and made the Sith believe that you were the last Jedi. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I loved the fact that Atris starts out the game by insulting the Sith for believing that the PC is "the last of the Jedi" when she she later reveals that this is so because she set it up! Even so, the Sith call the PC "the Exile." Do they just not know that that means? I would think that a disgruntled ex-Jedi would be worth more alive than dead for their purposes. Cloris
  3. On the other hand, according to Kreia, all they did was return Revan's true personality, like some sortt of spiritual and mental restore disk... I rather liked that, the notion that no matter what (Jedi, Sith, Jedi mind-rape victim), Revan was never anything other than Revan. As we can well see in the present, let alone our science fiction, those that would give up their principles for victory are soon left with neither. I do not understand logic that states that "guardians of the peace" can remain so if they cannot uphold those principles in times of conflict. Back to the point, though, let's say that Malak and Kavar are dueling. If Malak drops his saber and stops fighting -- can Kavar, in good consious as a Jedi, kill Malak? Could Malak avoid death by conceeding and saying "I am your prisoner?" Cloris PS: I always set Reven up as female, is there some sort of problem with that, jaguars4ever?
  4. I kept thinking of Highlander: There can be only one! Except for that guy over there... O, yeah, and this one over here... And that guy's cousin, he's one too... And those folks from planet whatever... And old man Smithers! Cloris
  5. Revenge of the Sith only took about six hours to play, and I had a good time. It's much more of a shooter (saber?) than role-play. but it is good for getting some glimpses at the movie ahead of time -- well, the action parts, anyway. Yes, Dooku is hard, but he's only the first of the boss types, so it only gets worse from there. Cheat codes are widely available already, and by the end I had used the one that allows you to regenerate force/health at a slightly (and they do mean SLIGHTLY) faster rate. I haven't played through the bonus missions yet, or done much dueling, but they both look like fun. Playing co-op is supposed to be a different experience, so in the end, there may be a lot more playability than I first thought. You could always get it from Amazon or Best Buy or who-knows-how-many places online if you really don't want to shop at Psycho-Sam's Neighborhood Destroying Juggernaut... Cloris
  6. They say that they don't kill their prisoners, but part of that bugs me: how do you define prisoner? Is someone your prisoner only when you declare them to be, or when you have the tactical upper hand (say, disarming someone)? Same thing with the Windu reference... When does someone stop being an opponent and start being a prisoner? Wow, maybe I should just get some sleep. Cloris
  7. Gamertag: Cloris Games: SW: Battlefront Halo 2 (I haven't played Live since I bought TSL!) Cloris
  8. That's adorable! O, I found that on my monitor, Di looks kind of rotten if the brightness isn't set properly. Reset, he's kind of hot. 'Course, my husband's blonde and broad-shouldered, too, so maybe I'm biased. Cloris
  9. I know that I'll end up buying it, but I probably only get it for PC (if available), since I ended up getting TSL for Xbox, and then again for PC so I could play more of the damn thing (LA can thank the modding community for me buying it twice). Cloris
  10. That was awesome! Was that an advert for a German energy drink? Thanks, I startled my whole household with it. Cloris
  11. I have to go with the Disciple -- he's kind of annoying, but can become a Jedi before you leave the Enclave, and eqquiped well he can kick some serious tail. Okay, that, and I like the fact that he was meant to be your student. And he actually contributes to your understanding of what's going on. The Handmaiden's alright, but her story isn't really tied to yours. The Disciple fulfills a dream when he becomes a Jedi, Brianna betrays an oath to do it... no wonder she needs the cargo hold with all that emotional baggage! Cloris
  12. I know I'll buy K3, hell or high water. There was just so much to -do- in K2, and my dissatisfaction with it came not from what they did, but what wasn't finished. Hell, I just played the Episode 3 game, and I'm not even really a fan of Star Wars in general. Okay, wait, maybe I am becoming a fan, but it's beause of "The Sith Lords," I swear! Before that, I had Battlefront. Now I have six of these damn games, and one of them twice (Xbox and PC -- you just guess which one!) Cloris
  13. Check at the Restoration Project: http://magestrix.com/K2End/index.html under downloads and you'll find a fix. If you're using an Xbox, then you're out of luck (at least for now -- entire threads are around here about that subject). Cloris
  14. Teehee, that's what my dev friends tell me -- no software is ever really finished. I must say, though, that if the story wasn't so compelling, I wouldn't be so bugged by the bugs and the crash/zoom ending. I would have stopped playing, and returned it if I could. But noooo, it had to have a truly evocative plot, compelling characters, and awesome visuals... Cloris
  15. Thanks! I've played this blasted game (I mean "blasted" in a good way, mostly!) I don't know how many times anymore, most of them LS, but I haven't been able to finish this particular entry. I fortified the defenses, recruited, all that, and then I talk to everybody I can find after the conflict, and they all seem Jedi positive, but the entry remains. *sigh* Cloris
  16. So, did anybody figure this out? It's one of the only missions that I haven't been able to complete... Cloris
  17. Hmm... did the revelation in KOTOR I thus not surprise you, or did it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, no -- by the time I played One, I was pre-spoiled by playing Two a few times. For me, it was kind of like the recently released films -- we all know what will happen, but we don't know quite how. How they did it surpised and impressed me, and I was really pleased by that. I am a complete nut over character development, it is the reason for me to play a game, and I loved what was done with the characters through Two all the way up to the confrontation at the Jedi Enclave. Then I felt rather left-at-the-alter at the way it ended. I'm with you guys "What the hell happened to my crew?!?" The writing and acting was effective enough to get me to care about these pixelated people, and then... next-to-nothing. Cloris
  18. Too true -- if that pair of animal handlers in the tomb had added "Now, something like a drexel, well, that takes big juju," would have cleared that right up. Cloris
  19. Well, we seem to have come to an impass. Are there any modded Xbox folks on here with the programming know-how to confirm or deny the existence of an open-interface left in the original product? I don't want to ask anyone to go look for it, as that would be a monsterous task, but if you already know, your input would be appreciated. I don't think that we'll know for sure until someone looks with their own eyes and sees for themselves. I'd rather have fact than conjecture or rumor. It seems rather incredulous that with all the other material left in the product, that the standard open-interface would have been removed. No offense intended or desired, but LA and OE have played hot-potato with this game for quite some time, so I find neither of them to be entirely credible. Cloris
  20. Hi! This is a really interesting thread, and it brought to mind some questions that have been stewing... This is all kind of disjointed, because I'm writing it as I read through the thread. Does Kreia really go beyond good/evil? Or is it that her ultimate betrayal isn't to your character, or her previous students -- but to herself for saving the galaxy? Is it that she really isn't a "bad guy" after all? I know it's weird, but stay with me for a few moments... Kreia sees connections, both between persons and between actions and futures. She sets all of this up under the guise of destroying her enemies, but isn't she the one that actually sets the galaxy up to be saved (also under the apparent pretense of destroying the Force)? The betrayer can't be exposed to soon, or all will be lost is one of the things she tells you with influence. She knows that the ONLY way that existence can be salvaged is if she and her baddie cohorts are wiped out -- she knows where everything is going and how it must end if she brings you into her game. Now, I don't like Kreia's character, I tend to think of her as a prattling nag myself, but I think her most important betrayal isn't to the PC, but to herself. I think this is part of the reason she stays neutral no matter what happens; not because she doesn't care but because she is both good and evil. She is a manipulator, and there is no better tool for maniplation than truth. Enough truth, at the right moment, can change the galaxy. The ending could have been so much better, and I suspect, when I'm in a conspiritorial mood, that the unused material was left in the product in order to show how much better it could have been. On a different tangent -- when the Jedi Masters ask the PC about killing hundreds to get there, getting stronger all the time: "What did you think that was?" Remember that? I couldn't help but say, out loud, "I thought I was playing a fricking VIDEO GAME, that's what!!!" Anybody else have a similar reaction? Nihilus and Atris were pimped way too much in the promo materials to only be side characters, in my opinion. Poor choice for marketing, but then again, you can't really pimp the PC, since there isn't one way for it to look... Confession: I am not a Star Wars fan -- I thought that Luke was a petulant peon, and that the recently released films were a bit better, but still not as compelling as they seem to be to others. I bought KOTORII because the reviews paralleled it to Fable, and then KOTORI so I could get more out of II. As a near-middle aged wife and mother, I am not the target audience for this type of thing. Anyway, I hope my ramblings make some sense! Cloris PS: I did love the fact, that in true SW fashion, the fate of the universe was really left to the droids...
  21. Boy, I seem to have stepped right in it, and on my first post too! I know that the likelyhood of seeing an patch for KOTORII for Xbox is slim to no-way-in-hell, for various reasons. However, I believe that my point has been missed -- it can be done, and it IS done all the time, via a mass-produced and widely available format. "Official Xbox Magazine" http://www.officialxboxmagazine.com/ I hate to sound like a commercial for the damn rag, but apparently the point hasn't been made. Every issue is released with an sanctioned disk, and that disk contains video, playable demos, and oftentime patches and save-games. Most major book and game stores chains carry it. It doesn't have anything at all to do with Xbox Live, for pity's sake. Nor does it have anything to do with a hacked or modded Xbox. It's legitimate, it doesn't require even a network connection, let alone Live, and you don't have to void the warrenty on your box to get it. *sigh* If we don't get a patch, then blame several of the other reasons that we can speculate about. However, it is possible, it has been done before. I think that's about it for me on this thread, Cloris
  22. I've seen this a lot on here -- and that isn't exactly true. My point was that it doesn't have to be XBox Live enabled to release a patch. It can be put on the disk that comes with every issue of the "Official Xbox Magazine." They don't do it so much anymore, but it has included (along with the playable demos et al) game saves and patches. So if they don't patch the Xbox version, it isn't because "it can't be done." Cloris
  23. Okay, the thread seems to have gone all Jade Empire, but I want to get back to KOTORII -- I loved this game, thought it rocked, until it was time to go back to the Enclave. Outside of the mandatory conversations with the major players (and Tobin), the character development comes to a dead stop. In most games, this wouldn't really bother me, but this one is really well-written until that point. The designers get you to actually care about what happens to these pixel-people only to leave you at the alter (if that makes any sense). The deus-ex-Traya at the end doesn't really help, either. I know it has all been said before, but if I didn't enjoy the game so much, I wouldn't be so ticked off by the ending. Count me as another one of the crowd waiting on the Restoration Project in order to get more satisfaction out of it all. Anyway, a thanks to Obsidian for all their great ideas, and a thanks to the modders out there who are working to make sure we get to see them all!!! Cloris
  24. They could release a patch for it via OXB -- I've seen it done in the past. But it's hit or miss, and adds the cost of the magazine. Anyway, I just wanted to say that it IS possible, but I guess that doesn't make it likely. *sigh* I've been lurking for months, and finally decided to register and post, so -- hello! Cloris
