  1. Some porn is quite artistic, take a look at Andrew Blake's work or any number or quickly rising female erotic film directors and you can see that some parts of the marketplace are answering the demand for quality rather than simply anatomy. I guess I should say take a look if you are old enough in your location to legally do so. While the majority of work out there is bullocks, there is always the exception. Damn, I'm off-topic again! Let's fix that... Mature content isn't always about nudity or vulgarity. The SW universe is incredibly violent, but it is absent the gore that we usually associate with such (hence the propensity for energy weapons, in my opinion, all the dismemberment wihout the blood and viscera). I have to admit, I have had a good laugh at the recent parent groups that have complained that Episode III is too dark -- I mean, come on, Anakin becomes Dark Vader! How was that going to happen -- with him smelling flowers and snuggling cute puppies?!? Rating systems are always questionable because they, by definition, must be based on a person or group of people's opinion as to what is appropriate for whom. However, I do greatly appreciate the additional descriptions: gang violence, drugs, sex, launguage: as a parent, that gives me far greater ability to make sure that what my children see is appropriate to their developmental level. E, T, M: those simply don't cut it -- however, these ratings also give companies the room to produce mature content whereas without such, they are accused of peddling porn to preschoolers. As a fan of mature content, I am also a advocate for the ratings system. It's Cloris. I do not believe that a game should have filters forced on it. If, however, a publisher wants a broad market appeal, then filters are the way to go. Of course, any such system depends on the involvement of parents in their child's lives, and we all know how well that goes over with the fundie groups. As a consumer, if you decide not to buy a product based on the inclusion of adult or mature material, be sure that there will be someone right behind you to pick it up, perhaps just because it contains such. Mature content has almost never indicated lesser sales. In the marketplace, we all vote with our money. If a product has mature content, and is labeled as such, then no one is being forced to do anything -- so I am having trouble seeing your point on that one, please elaborate. Are you saying that the inclusion of vulgarity or alternative lifestyles is to "force" such on the consumer? If in any place where representation of a heterosexual lifestyle would be appropriate, to say that any other representation would not be is dubious at best. Your wallet indicates your intent, in my opinion. If it is part of the story, and it is mature content labeled as such, then I have no problem with it. I snipped the bit about your friends et al, because I do not believe that this is a place to discuss prejudice and the many nuances it encompases. It's Cloris. Hmmm, that seems odd -- not to seem trite, but has anyone else had that experience? I've played LSF a number of times and ways and never have I seen that. I think I have a savegame that I can edit and test this theory... Cloris
  2. Nope, that would be the movie, Xmen 2: Kelly Hu (IMDB) You can click on her bio picture to see stills of her as Deathstrike. Cloris
  3. It is kind of gut-wrenching (okay, so I'm a softy!) but it is great and I was oh-so-mad that it wasn't in-game! Cloris
  4. Thanks for the reply! Yes, you can get Force Sight from Visas as a female Exile, perhaps I should have been more clear -- I meant the Sight scene with Visas just prior to the game's end run. As a female character, you usually see Disciple at that point. While there is no gratuitous anything in the Visas scene, it is more satisfying emotional and implies a greater sense of intimacy as a male character. Unless I'm really missing something else, there is no real equivilent as a female character. Does that make more sense? While your statement may have been based on factual information (yes, I have seen some of those threads) it was a gross generalization that frankly, was insulting. I was also very clear that I personally did not necessarily mean that I needed explicit footage in the act to get more out of it (a reference to your "bumbing uglies" comment) -- something you did not address. Surely we are not saying that the only way to express a greater emotional denouement is to cut in scenes of pixilated pornography or somesuch. If I want adult content (and occassionally I do), I know where to get it -- although finding such content coupled with quality is always a struggle. I know that I am new here (and that you are not), but I assure you that I did "get it" and it, frankly, wasn't enough. That I wanted more is a testament to the writers' ability to take the player to an emotional level but were not either willing or able to see it through. I am sorry that you see that as me "dissing" the game because I did not "get it." If we can get past that, I think we can have a very worth-while conversation about this topic. Otherwise, it was good to try on both our parts. Cloris
  5. I don't know if there would really be a point to extending that sort of effort. We all go through hormone-based cycles, which can have behavioral side effects -- women are just the obvious target. I do like the fact that in this game, in order to gain influence, you have to nurture and care for the NPCs, which a behavior typically attributed to females. My hypothosis is that this is why many are unhappy with the influence system. That's kind of what I was getting at in the thread on language usage and female pronouns. I woudn't fear, though, Metadigital, these types of thought processes are obvious in their owners, and should he actually believe this tripe to be realistic in any way, well -- he will reap what he sows, I suppose. The politics, well, the politics probably belong someplace more... political. Cloris
  6. Well, there's Kelly Hu (Visas), and I don't think she wore latex in X2, she was still pretty hot. And of course, there's Nikky Kat (Atton), who was in Boiler Room and more recently, Sin City. Ed Asner was a given, to be sure. Raphael Sbarge (Carth) I remember from Introducing Dorothy Dandridge -- the character was a racist so-and-so. He was also in SW: Republic Commando. Kristoffer Tabori (HK47 -50) was all over 70s and 80s TV. Daran Norris (GOTO) is Cosmo & the Dad in "Fairly Odd Parents", while Grey DeLisle (Handmaiden) is Vicky in the same series. DeLisle is also Emily Elizabeth in "Clifford the Big Red Dog." She and Norris are all over the place with VO work. So is Tom Kane (Vandar) -- I just knew that I knew that voice! Jennifer Hale (Bastilla) is another VO wonder, notably to me she's in "MegasXLR." I character actors... You had to ask, didn't you? Cloris
  7. To see what Revan would have programmed him to say about love. A little bit of Sith romantic philosophy research... Cloris
  8. According to IMDB, Jolee was voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson, and he doesn't appear to be on the credits at all for TSL. I had a great time looking at the credits and seeing where I had heard these actors before... Cloris
  9. I believe that it is time for more mature content -- I think that the gaming demographic is aging, and the double standard of violence being okay, but a nipple can cost you millions is wearing thin. In reference to this game, sure there was some suggestiveness with the "sight" scene, but if you play a female Exile, you don't even get that. Just Atton and Mical bickering and Mira asking about "power couplings" (which I thought was cute). An embrace, something would have been nice. To suggest that people wanted more because they didn't "get" the artistry is well, insulting. A kiss, a hug, throw us a fricken' bone over here! Cloris
  10. He reminds me of a member from some 70s rock band, but I can't remember who... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought he looked like Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young all blended together... heavy on the Young. But I liked his voice! Cloris
  11. Yes, yes. *cough* And I will require these funds to continue my survey of modern pop culture violence as expressed through intereactive, electronic medias... *cough* And that doesn't even count whatever surprise annoncements at E3! Cloris
  12. Hey, now, I liked Luxa and I'm not a guy. 'Course, for me, her main selling point was her attitude... Maybe they should go back to some of the old pc game conventions. I remember a game, I think it was an early Leisure Suit Larry, where to get the adult content you had to answer a series of questions about recent history (I think one was about Nixon). Of course, this is the age of the search engine, so maybe that wouldn't be such a good idea. I like randy material in my games, as long as it is done with some style. Cloris
  13. I thought that was cool. By the end, you expect Vrook to be judgemental jerk, but it really felt like Zez-Kai-Ell and Vandar were turning and stabbing you in the back at the Enclave, if you played it LS. That ticked me off, but then I was impressed that it was written well enough that I was ticked off! Cloris
  14. That's what Lionhead is doing with Fable: The Lost Chapters. I guess that originally it was supposed to be a direct port to PC, but they decided that would "bore them stiff" and added new adventures, items, skills/spells, characters, and locations. I have my tentacles crossed that Obsidian & LA are watching, because I'm sure it will sell well and maybe, just maybe, we might see a finished KOTORII yet. Cloris
  15. So does Evil Dead: Regeneration, Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows, The Matrix: the Path of Neo, Fable: TLC... Never mind the new XBox360. It is going to be one fun year, but now my discretionary funds seem to have already been spent... Thanks, E3! Cloris
  16. Agreed -- 4 power crystals instead of two, and double the other parts as well. Woohoo! I did rather feel like a dunce when I figured that out, though... But while you're low on parts, a double-bladed is the way to go. Cloris
  17. I can't help but think that maybe Obsidian and LA should take a nod from Lionhead with Fable: The Lost Chapters. Fix the bugs, add new adventures, items, and whatnot, and rerelease the bloody thing the way it was meant to be. *sigh* Cloris "Personally, I want to slay the dragon..."
  18. Hey, I'm happy to help! If you watch the Carrie-Anne Moss action sequences really closely (who doesn't?), you can see where her latex outfit is replaced with an identical PVC costume. Which I understand, PVC is much more durable and can be fabric-lined, which helps wtih the tremendous sweat issue... Anyway, if I can contribute to a true appreciation of the latex-clad body, then I'm a happy camper. It is weird to wear clothes that have to be kept in platic baggies least they get exposed to air or sun or any of the things that can ruin them. *sigh* Cloris
  19. It was confusing. I played TSL first, and then bought the first one just to find out what the whole Revan thing was about. *sigh* Then I was more confused! Revan goes dark side, kills millions, destroys entire civilizations, and because of a knock to her head she gets a chance at redemption. The Exile, on the other hand, never did follow Revan to the dark side, leads to save people, and makes one bad call: the Mass Shadow generator, in the hope of saving more lives by ending the war quickly (WWII, anyone?) -- but no, the Council won't hear of taking her back, because she's been metaphysically wounded by the war?!? I know, I know, the Council hoped to use Revan as some sort of psychic sleeper agent, and the Exile could have been more of a threat than a help -- but Kavar was right: only in understanding what had happened could the same have been prevented later. Of course, if the Council was really smart, these stories would all be 10 minute (or less) shorts. I guess it's like complaining that horror stories are always populated with stupid characters -- there was a Saturday Night Live bit that had a horror movie set up with smart characters, and it lasted about three minutes! Cloris
  20. Umm, sorry -- a little phrase I aquired from my husband, so I blame him! :D True, that was very nice -- and trust me, latex wardrobes are a real pain to take care of and maintain... even with the best polishes, if she so much as brushed against something or touched her dress, that spot would have to be repolished and allowed to dry. They did a great job keeping her spotless! However, knowing that, it made some of the action sequences hard to believe, because I know that there are some things that are nearly impossible to do in latex... That was more of a disbelief problem than the philosophy, I already knew enough of Gnosticism and Eastern thought to get through that pretty easily. Cloris
  21. I make a rule to 'fess up when I've screwed the pooch, I'm weird that way! Yep, they say that they did Bound in order to prove that they could make a movie and get the go-ahead for The Matrix. Before that, they had screen writing credits on Assassins, I think. I'm told that I tend to go for movies (and games) with boring exposition. *shrug* I like heavy plots, what can I say? Cloris
  22. That's almost a bit too true to life, isn't it? " Cloris
  23. Maybe I'm just cracked, but when I think about it, sometimes I wonder if Force Bonds are ways to make Jedi feel again. That's not quite it, let me try again: if the Force is all about balance, then wouldn't no emotional attachment be just as wrong as too much emotional attachment? I don't know about attributing Anakin's fall to love, more to his obssesive inability to let go of the people that he loves -- his unwillingness to acknowledge that he can't control everything. Rather than face the fact that not everything can be controlled, he reaches out for more power, for more control. It isn't love, it's what he does about his love that makes all the difference. Flatus, you've got some good points. I tell you though, if I were exiled from an order that forbid love, the first thing I would do is go have a good fling! Not out of spite or rebellion, but out of relief of no longer being subject to such a rule. I mean, if you are "a Jedi no longer," then why fight it? Cloris
  24. True, but I didn't mean greed for stuff, but for powers. More info would have been good, since that was part of the reason your were tracking them down to begin with, or at least part of my reason... Cloris
  25. True, this is in Way Off-Topic, my apologies. Ahh, but there are some intensely boring dialogs about SW philosophy, too, which is what prompted my irony comment in the first place. I did, however, leave room for personal preference, which some folks in this thread seem unwilling to do. But we agree on hot lesbians, and that's a start! Cloris
