  1. Wow, you know -- this was one of the few game-oriented message boards that I would count on for intelligent conversation. Then threads like this pop up, and I wonder why on earth I even bother. What is it with video game message boards and the penchant for homophobia? As a sexuality and reproductive health professional, and a person of alternative sexual orientation, I can tell you that folks like {deleted for the sake of flame avoidance} are indeed bigoted and most certainly incorrect on almost every single point made in this thread. Not knocking you guys personally (though I would like to), but your science is bad, your philosophy is ill-advised, and your facts are just plain wrong. Current scientific (biology, psychology, sociology, and anthropology) thought indicates that the sexual orientation is the likely result of a number of factors including genetics (that influence the activity level of certain parts of the brain), hormonal influence in the womb, socio-economic and cultural influence, and the effectiveness of reporting (someone living in a well-educated, affluent urban area is statistically much more likely to express rather than repress a tendency towards same-sex attraction than someone in a rural, economically depressed, and poorly educated area). So far there is not, nor is there likely to be, a single "magic bullet" that creates same-sex attraction. To believe it is simply a "choice" is not only wrong, but is quite frankly delusional and almost criminal in its ignorance. Oh, and KJVB doesn't teach that homosexuality is wrong -- it teaches that it is an "abomination" which is, in context, something unfit for Jews. Never mind the hypocrisy of James I while he was overseeing this little project (ask the Brits on the board about George Villers, Duke of Buckingham). If theocratic bigots aren't simply teaching hatred, well then they would go after ham and cheese bagels the same way they go after homosexuals... or people that wear poly cotton blends, or work on Sundays, or football players (unclean pigskin and all) et al. With over twelve years of research in this field, a library of over 200 volumes on sexuality, and a curriculum vitae specializing in alternative sexuality -- I could go on and on and on and on about this. But I'm too damned mad -- so I'm going to load up a game, and blow the hell out of some strangers instead. Absolutely Disgusted, Cloris
  2. Team Gizka, Thanks for all the hard work! Here's a small suggestion that may help: a.) Help people understand what kind of effort is going into this, and b.) Get the more impatient people off of your diligent and well-appreciated backs. In the progress reports, under the very cool light saber bars, give an hours worked estimate. Note: only a valid suggestion if it won't add more undo labor to what is surely a gueling labor-of-love anyhow! Rather out of my mind this morning, Cloris
  3. Too true! Maybe I like Di so much because it seems to be heavily implied that he's had a crush on the PC ever since that first meeting in the Enclave. Of course that is going to be a little odd -- and maybe even a bit stalker-ish, but I think it's awesome. Atton's fun and all, but out of the two of them, I think it's obvious which one would remember your birthday! Cloris
  4. Bitter Beauty Beautiful Scars Hey, I kind of like mine... Cloris
  5. In some long-ago seeming thread, I listed a bunch of the voice actors and other projects from which I thought we might recognize them, but I don't remember what the thread was called! Anyway, take a look at IMDb -- it's all there, and it was pretty fun to figure out who sounded familar and why. Or maybe that's just me being a geek, Cloris
  6. Sure, but he's "so open, so trusting..." It's that naive love for others, it'll get you every time! He can be my wasted pawn any day! Bwaaaahahaha... opps, sorry, ummm, so how's the weather? Cloris
  7. Okay, I have finally quoted myself, but it's because I forgot something: Disciple is the only one on the ship that knows who Kreia is! We never find out, but at first he asks who she is, and then later says "I know you, not even the markings of the dark side can hide it." But he never gets to tell the exile, so we never find out -- aaarrrggg! Cloris
  8. Here's another mod question: when I try to download some mods from pcgamemods.com, I get a screen of nonsense rather than the save window -- anybody have an idea of what's up? Cloris
  9. Kreia clouds his mind so that he can't remember what he learns until much later in the game -- Mical figures out that something is wrong with life itself. It's kind of hard to explain... (I haven't played for weeks, so I'd rather be vauge than wrong.) I've played both male and female, and honestly I think that Di is much more useful than Handmaiden. The hand-to-hand in skivvies is nice, but no where near as useful. I do like the questions surrounding her parentage, though. That, and the Di romance has kind of a Lancelot feeling to it. Cloris
  10. I like him, and he's a really useful character. I posted about that before, but it's been a while. Mical's got 'mad skillz,' for one, and is one of the only people from the PC's past that can be counted on to help. Not only is he a tank, but he can heal you, recover your force points, AND serve as a lab station. Nevermind that he's the only one that figures out what the hell is going on (even if Kreia makes him forget)! I like Atton, too, but he's just not as handy. It's not Disciple's fault his teeth are too big for his chin! :D Cloris
  11. Agreed -- and that long, slow pan across the repairs makes it seem like the repairs are a big deal, although they never explain how or why. Cloris
  12. I think Kreia had to die because she knew the path she was on (the death of the Force), and knew that the Exile was the only one that could stop her, and that she would only stop when she was dead. I enjoy the "was she good/evil/neutral" debate -- because I find her to be all of these things rather than any one exclusively. That's just my opinion, Cloris
  13. I agree. And you can get Yavin 4 (KOTOR I) via XBox Live, I did. Cloris
  14. I agree, and its more fun to kick ass when they don't see it coming (not that I rub it in with the fanboys on Halo2 Live). " I've played both male and female on both KOTOR games and don't find any of them to be disturbing. Now if they were hitting on someone too young or infirm to consent, that would bother me -- but adults that no what they're doing, nope. In TSL, I found Sion's big battle dialog with the female exile to be particularly interesting. Cloris
  15. This probably won't help, but I thought I'd mention it here... On two play-throughs all the doors in Telos malfunctioned for about half of my play there. I would open a door, but it didn't visually open. I could walk though it, or be shot at through it, but they would always appear closed. Fortunately by then I knew the game wll enough to know where I was going & what would be there, but it was rather odd and slightly irritating. Some sort of clipping bug, maybe? Cloris
  16. I think I recall someone finding a party member graphic for Atris in the game files. Can anyone confirm or deny, please? I am embarassed that I can't recall more fully, my apologies. Cloris
  17. Thanks. I know, I know. I do try not to let myself get baited by bigots, I really do. However, I was raised in an environment that taught that silence equals assent, so to say nothing is to do nothing, and it is worse to do nothing about a wise stance than it is to have a misguided one. Does that make any sense? One changed mind can change the world (and other uncharacterist optimism...). Hope you enjoyed your trip! Cloris
  18. Thanks -- I'm not going to. I caught on after a while, not soon enough to keep me from wasting my time, but hey, learning isn't free. I am really glad to see some folks that have played the game on both platforms posting though, that's cool -- I am all for intelligent, informed, honest discussion! " Cloris
  19. No, you should post exactly as you do -- it lets me know not only your opinion, but that you consider it to be worth more than it is (by fraudulently presenting it as fact), and consequently, how much weight I should give it. I greatly appreciate the convenience. However, your analysis of my post could not have been further from correct if you had actually aimed for error. Odd, I remember this thread being about a platform comparison rather than someone's ego. Cloris
  20. Does this mean that you find lesiure activities to have no value at all? I find the opportunity to relax and enjoy myself to be of great value. To me, since those results have value, then the money spent on a game is not a waste of time but an investment in my own well-being. Cloris
  21. Obviously I am happy with that or I wouldn't have it on both, no? Although, I admit that I would have it on pc only if I had been more familar with the difficulties and bugs. Wait, I may not have bought it at all if that were the case -- which would have robbed me of much enjoyment and many happy gaming hours. I was hoping for more than the peurile, though -- I tend to stay away from theads that have no hope of being anything but tripe. This was a good chance that some actual conversation could be exchanged regarding the specific pros & cons on this game for different platforms, if it weren't for the presense of so much posturing and egotism. Thanks -- and thanks for using my correct gender as well! I post opinions, but I clearly label them as such and expect them to hold no more or less weight than the opinions of others -- but "XYZ SUX" is a lot different than "I thought XYZ sucked" in my own little semantic world. The first pretends to be fact in order to accrue some false sense of self-esteem, whereas the second is well-labeled opinion. I know, Metadigital, this is about the time I get should quit trying to cloud up people's fun with logic and the bare amount of curtosey we owe to ourselves and strangers, but it suits me, no matter how worthless it seems. Although my spelling and syntax have suffered greatly due to memory loss in the last six months, I still do my best to communicate as clearly and efficently as possible. Folks that don't see any value in that are more than welcome to keep on scrolling. The whining "what I like is obviously the best and anyone that disagrees is STOOPID" attitude is why the general public has such a low opinion of gamers in general -- these types encourage it! Cloris
  22. I think that real power would come in the ability to manipulate the balance of the two... Cloris
  23. His personality traits aside (there's plenty of debate on that), he's a damn useful character to have around: --He can heal vitality points. --Via dialog, you can get a mediation option which will allow him to restore your character's force points as well. --He functions as a lab station, able to create and breakdown any items in that catagory. --He's a hell of a melee fighter once you turn him into a Jedi, which you can do before leaving the Enclave, if you work the dialog tree properly.
