  1. I am hesitant to post to this thread, because it seems that, once, again, people are slinging their opinions around as fact -- and while I find that amusing it is still annoying. SW:KOTORII I have on both Xbox and PC, so I feel that (unlike some more prolific posters) I can actually voice an informed opinion on this one. Overall, there is very little difference, obviously, or it would be two bloody different games, wouldn't it? Console games will always have it over and above pc games in terms of simplicity of controls. The menus are easier to navigate on pc, but the actual game play is much more streamlined and requires less loss-of-immersion on Xbox. It depends on your monitor, but I liked the size of the picture on my television, but the resolution on my LCD was better far and away. Then there is always the issue of patches: pc good, Xbox not-so-good. There are plenty of threads on whether or not this game can be patched on Xbox, and the best thread is still waiting on an answer from someone who can actually look at the Xbox code and say, with certainty, whether or not there is the industry standard open interface present in the programming. Feel free to further debate on that issue there, if you must. I like being able to use my ergo keyboard, LCD, and trackball on pc -- about as much as I like being able to sit on my sofa and hear the game through 5.1 surround. I would say that the biggest difference is in how one likes to play video games rather than any real difference in the game itself. Anyone else here with actual experience with the game in both formats? I know I would like to compare and contrast opinions with you. And no, I am not addressing off-topic items such as sports games et al... You guys can have at it on that one! Yes, I know I sound officious, but the presentation of opinion as fact is not only facetious, it is downright dishonest (and it ticks me off). Cloris
  2. This guy is kidding, right? Right?!? Yann: You have every right to be "old fashioned," as you call it. However, once you draw that line for more people than yourself, then I do believe that "bigot" can also apply. By "other things" you wouldn't mean perhaps such improper thoughts as civil rights, equality, and/or self-determination, would you? Jeez, you would think that if this guy had read any of the content of this thread.... Nevermind. Cloris
  3. "You will be unable to name this flamer. Thoughts of his flame will flow from your mind like water..." Ahh, Kreia, what would we do without you? Anyway, MTJ is apparently single-handedly writing KOTORIII, because he know exactly how it will be. Girias, you've got some good ideas. Cannon (in this instance) is the official story according to Lucas -- some things that happen in the SW franchise products are considered cannon, and some are not. It makes little difference unless you are a part of that franchise developing a new product, or are a big fan and trying to fit some SW event into a timeline or trace down a lineage or whatnot. I like the idea of rebuilding the Order, and seeing characters from both I & II. The female Exile pics work for me, though. Remember Yoda? "When 900 years old you reach, look as good you will not." So the age thing doesn't really matter. Some people are set on a male Exile and Revan, whereas some think that only a female could get the job done. A little Force, a little Oil of Olay, and presto -- you look 22 for ever! Cloris
  4. If you are playing on pc you can find a fix here: http://magestrix.com/K2End/downloads.html If you're playing on Xbox, then it's a bug that you can fix (unless your box is modded). Cloris
  5. Bwaahaha! Too true, too true. Why on earth we can't all discuss what we'd like to see in a KOTORIII, if there even ever is such an animal, without it becoming some weird spitting contest devolving into even worse is simply beyond me. I for one, want to know what happens to these characters we have spend untold time and innumerable efforts on -- if somebody else does not, more power to 'em. Until we hold the next game in our grubby little paws, its anybody's guess what will happen. I love speculation, as if you couldn't tell, but that's all it is. I can tell the thread-poster that there will most likely not be an ex-Sith-Lord ex-Republic-Hero named Raven in the next game though, so rest easy, big guy. Cloris
  6. I wanted them anyway, now I have two reasons. What is it with these folks and their belligerent and nearly insulting thread openers? "NO REVAN, NO EXILE, NO ROMANCE, NO TRUE SITH..." or whatever the rant is about. What ever happened to being able to civilly and articulately voicing an opinion? Cloris
  7. One part is in the swoop garage, one is in the room for Pylon 3, and the power cell is with the Ithorian in the flophouse. I never get to use it much for travel, but there some XP to be had in fixing it up, and you can gain influence with either Atton or Bao Dur by asking for their help when you work on it. Cloris
  8. I thought that they were both fashioned after the librarian stereotype (not to say that it is true, or that all librarians are like that). Cloris
  9. No I don't want to argue with you, but I have to point this out: you are not talking about the loss of actual profit, but the loss of potential profit, which makes your case much less black and white than you seem to think. And rather than rant at those that disagree with you, you should perhaps spend your time delving into the pertinent case law if you are truly interesting in such things. I do sincerely hope that the simple act of disagreeing with you because your arguments are tenuous at best and your terminology is incorrect (and you could also use some fact checking) is not what you consider to be "insulting." Cloris PS: Again, it is copyright infringement (ie: the potential loss of profit), not theft. But I think someone else has already said that.
  10. Agreed -- T3 does seem to share that true hero R2-D2 quality. They are the only ones that really know what's going on and they serve to tie all together without being too trite. Cloris
  11. Here are some random thoughts from caffine-addled mind, and they not meant to be interpreted as anything more or less than my opinion... Perhaps as a new character, you have to find Revan and/or the Exile, and in doing so you have to track down the old party... (the trick, I suppose, would be to keep in mind the various outcomes from TSL, but as they always say, the future is a difficult thing to see, no?). A mission you're given by someone, or compelled to do because of relations, I don't know. -- We hear an awful lot about Kataar (?spelling) in TSL, it would be nice to see it (like Telos -- hear about it in I, see it in II). This is a no-brainer for tracking down Visas. -- Finding the Ebon Hawk (it just has to be there, it and T3 are the things that really tie it all together for me) and Atton, 'cause where else would he be? -- Maybe Disciple and Mira are searching for Force Sensetives to help rebuild the Order. DS option: Hanharr has been hired to hunt them down. Maybe there are competing efforts to do so, or the Sith are also recruiting, seeing their chance to move in on a more permanent basis with the Old Order gone. -- Use the holocron idea -- Force knowledge would have become very scare after TSL, and they would be desperately needed. -- We could find out that a few Masters escaped Kataar, having sensed Atris's intent. -- Gaining the trust of the old party (parties?), whether or not they become members of the new one, would be a great way to get their stories of what happened last time and since. As for an overall goal, I'm not much help on that one. Perhaps the Republic simply needs it's heros back in action, or the Order needs to be rebuilt to face a new threat (let alone the great war waiting in the dark ala the True Sith). One thing, though -- in TSL, when the PC would accomplish most tasks, the conversation options would say "I did this" or "I did that," a LS character looking to acknowledge his or her companions or a DS character looking to share blame would probably say "we." I would really like that to be an option. More from me later, probably -- you have been warned! Cloris
  12. If the other NPCs aren't in your party (if Atton and Kreia are standing there, but you can't control them, then they are not in your party) then you're in the weird "cheat node" bug. Start from before you enter the underground structure (right after you kill the HK-50's). If you can't use the patch that fixes this, then make sure that when the Handmaidens confront you that you do NOT choose "All right, I mean you no harm." as your first converstation option -- choose one of the other two (I ask who they are first). Then you can tell them that you "didn't come here to do battle" and then the game will function as normal. T3 should be ready to bust a motivator to get the hell out of that ice hole! Otherwise, I'm afraid I'm just as confused as you -- let me know how it turns out! Cloris Edit: Spelling
  13. Thanks! I was drawing a blank on that one, so I appreciate the info! Cloris
  14. Right -- that I knew. I should have phrased my question more properly: who was Nomi? Cloris
  15. Thanks!!! My memory isn't as reliable as it used to be, but I was pretty sure it was more than wishful thinking. Cloris
  16. Vao's armband? I found Nomi's with Greeda (?spelling), and although the name sounds familar, I still can't quite remember who that was... Anybody? Don't forget Onasi's blaster! Cloris
  17. True -- it is all the potential that shows in the neglected content that makes it so killer. If it wasn't any good -- well, we'd say "good thing THAT didn't make it into the game!" The increased immersion/drama/angst that lies in the files but doesn't play just kills me. Cloris
  18. Okay, no problem -- I just wanted to let you know that some news had been posted. Just watch where you point that thing next time, okay? Cloris
  19. Wow, I was right -- it does seem to greatly depend on your outlook. I did not interpret it that way at all; I suppose that's part of the beauty of it all... Cloris
  20. Woah, cowboy, switch to decaf! I was just trying to let the original poster know that as far as I knew we did recieve word. *sigh* I share your frustration, but I was the wrong person on which to vent it. Cloris
  21. That's the quote I was talking about -- although I should have said implied rather than called. It implies that somebody else is the hero... Nevermind, it was probably something you either got or not, depending on your outlook, I suppose. I thought that the subtlies of his speech gave it away. Cloris
  22. Look for her in the cantina on Tantooine. Good luck, Cloris
  23. I don't remember where, but didn't we have word that the second patch had been finished by OE and was currently in the hands of the LucasArts Q&A department? Anybody? Cloris
  24. I like Atton, no worries there -- it is much more secure to spend my crushes on scoundrels in fiction than in meatspace. On the other hand, I like Di, too. Practically: he's a walking lab table, can restore force points, and can heal on demand -- better, even, than T3 or Bao Dur. Storywise: he's the only bugger to figure out what the hell is going on (even if he is made to forget), he changed his whole life because of the PC oh-so-long-ago and isn't bitter or vindictive, he continues his study and pursuit of the Jedi even though it seems to pain him, and he makes for a hell of a Jedi himself, and when he and Atton have that first spat -- instead of getting mad he calls Atton a hero. Sure, he isn't "the cool guy," but that doesn't mean that there isn't a good character in there -- even if his chin is too small for his teeth and makes him look a bit beaver-ish. Cloris
  25. Awesome! I am really excited about being able to play the rest of the game -- and I'll wait for quality, dammit. :D Hey, I have a question (what a surprise, I know): do you guys have any idea what the Redemption quest on Dantooine was all about? From my mucking around, I know that there's someone (the mechanic?) that you aren't supposed to reveal your Jedi identity to, but as to how to complete the quest, I've found no clue. *pout* If you know and have time, could you fill me in -- is it a bug (like the escaped criminals or Fuel for Telos), and if it is a bug, is it something that you plan on spending some of your already-in-high-demand time on? Okay, I should have said "I have questions." Cloris Edit: Spelling *sigh*
