You can side with the Huana by siding with Rauatai and then backing out instead of agreeing to killing the queen. Rauataians will go hostile, you kill them, Maia does not object. You go back to the queen, she gives you the 'go to Ukaizo' speech without wanting Pallegina gone. I suspect more stuff like this can be done to side with the other factions.

I did a short test run with a lvl 20 Warlock (Berserker/plain Wizard). Seems to be better at shelling out damage than Brute (same equipment, didn't adapt the gear to the new build), even without bonus talents (Berath's favor, PoE bonus stats). Couldn't really get a feel for the durability, but taking out the Rauataians and Kahanga palace (with full party) didn't scratch him. I guess my next playthrough is decided...

I never picked a caster as main character so far... but I am now tempted to make a Warlock and let the AI do the buffing. edit: Took some time to look at the spells... of course the most useful looking ones for martial self-buffing are spread between Enchanting and Illusion. So no wizard subclass, I guess.

Maia is constantly dominated though if you don't put something with immunity to intellect afflictions on her, or omit the deep wounds talent (as the DoT triggers the dominating gaze bug). Also, on Veteran with upscaling I never saw Fampyrs with level below my own, so the red hand doesn't help. Good to know about Wael's wind, because several of the items mentioned before (Hylea's bounty, Svef) no don't give you immunity anymore, only resistance, meaning you'll still be charmed, which is hardly better. My tactics against Fampyrs consisted of: -sending Maia away. Better go into the fight with 4 guys only, than having her kill my support (or if you know you're up against Fampyrs, take someone else without DoT talents). -equipping upgraded Modwyr on my watcher -equipping Pallegina with upgraded Shimmer Scale Tekehu and Serafen were periodically dominated, but Pallegina could 'fix' them with Aegis of Loyalty attacks.

Oh, I figure. Though I do like actually playing the game and not letting the AI do everything. True, but chaining the commands for the encounter-ending Barbaric Smash killing streak would be extremely tedious. But when I think about it, I had the AI customized so far that I could let it play out most encounters. It's just too good at self buffing, especially for a Brute - you can set the AI to cast Tactical Barrage-> Refreshing Defense -> Frenzy (+Upgrades) to get unconfused berserker frenzy and won't even see the symbol for refreshing defense displayed, because the first two are instant casts. To do this manually every 30 seconds would be freakingly annoying.

All of them are a bit unlikeable. I miss a New Vegas style Wildcard option... our own army of Adra Animats or something. Taking over Splintered Reef and conquering the Deadfire with undead would be a great option for evil, necromancery characters. Or at least being able to give the faction leaders more input on how to be less unlikeable, for more wholesome ending slides.
