Fallout goes d20
It's so true. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> To me the problem isn't with the system. I agree that the system used in the Fallout games (that's SPECIAL, isn't it?) is similar to d20, and so d20 may seem appropriate. But that's not the problem for me. Because I honestly didn't like the Fallout system much. The Fallout games were great in spite of the system used, not because of it, in my not so humble opinion. It was okay, but I still feel the result would have been better with GURPS rules. But Fallout worked anyway because it was so well-written with lots of exciting plot and interesting characters. D20 seems to me to resort completely to dungeon-crawls and hack 'n slash, where the stats for rooms and monsters are far more important than the descriptions of the characters. I mean, what made Fallout great were stuff like this from Fallout 2: "The irony is razor sharp. Maybe we'll talk later after I stop the bleeding." [Comment to McClure in Fallout 2 upon hearing that the orders of an extra GECK for Vault 8 and extra water chips for Vault 13 were accidentally switched.] "Oh well, I thought there weren't any children because this might be the European version of Fallout 2." [Comment to Phyllis upon learning about the pregnancy cycles of Vault City in Fallout 2.] "The next cheap sonuvabitch who haggles for a drink is going to be wearing his ass as a hat!" [Cassidy] "Wow! I feel as if I've passed some arbitrary experience value and gained more power!" [Marcus] :D Just reading that again makes me laugh... Or has anyone tried sneak into the raider camp, kill all the mercs, but NOT the native (the bare-chested guy), then walk up to him and talk to him? He says nothing for the first twenty clicks, but his comment when he does is just pure gold It's very difficult to put that sort of thing into a PnP RPG, especially if it's d20, which is very geared towards combat and stats. That doesn't preclude it from being good, but I won't be holding my breath...

Are you kidding? England and Sweden playing 2-2 was exciting in the extreme... and no, I'm neither a Swede nor an Englishman.

John Cleese on soccer vs. american football
- John Cleese on soccer vs. american football
yeah, but that's not what cleese said: which is what i was referring to. but i understand why it got mixed up between our posts, however, so sorry for the confusion. it is an unknown play, seen more in college and high school than anything. i'm not sure why, maybe because of the uncertainty since it is an awkward thing to do (hit the ground wrong and it is a fumble). taks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So what you're saying is that not one but two people from each team are actually allowed to kick the ball... Well, in that case, I can certainly see that Cleese is wrong - that surely makes it more than relevant for the game to be called football then!!!- 2006 FIFA World Cup
At least it wasn't one of those "ties" that the announcers hail as one of the greatest games ever played. I hate when they do that, it's a ****ing tie. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A tie can be a very great game, however. Like when Denmark and Sweden was playing in the EU championship not long ago, and a 2-2 was needed in order to kick Italy out of the group and for the two to qualify. That tie was reached, much to the displeasure of the Italians who cried foul play. But yeah, a 0-0 tie is boring as hell. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It depends. I've certainly seen games that were amazingly dramatic, yet ended with 0-0 because the cursed ball just wouldn't go into that bloody goal. They don't always seem exciting while you're watching, but you know they were when you're wiping sweat off your forehead at the final whistle...- 2006 FIFA World Cup
Please, Argentina vs. Holland was a vast disappointment given the standards of those teams, particularly given how magnificently the Argentinians have been playing so far. 90 minutes and 0-0. That's an hour and a half I'm not getting back- John Cleese on soccer vs. american football
DISCLAIMER: The following is a quote from the tv-program: "The Art of Football" with John Cleese and Tom Konkle, where Cleese speaks of the difference between soccer and american football. I thought it was amusing, but wish to stress that those are not my words - it's a quote. And it's not to be taken seriously. John Cleese:- Fallout goes d20
Now I'm scared... Because I agree with that...- Fallout goes d20
:D So all you have to do to scary Hades off is to agree with him... I'll have to remember that in the future- TSL Restoration Project: The Phantom Deadline
Careful, or we'll just get another picture of the team's progress notes :D- Missing HK part.
I thought you can't get the last part for HK-47 until after you killed the three HK-50 units hunting down T3 in the droid warehouse on Nar Shaddaa... Don't remember where I got which part, though.- Jedi Council's meeting with the Exile on Coruscant
I think it's actually said more than once, but it is certainly stated during the meeting with the masters on Dantooine. "The last Jedi conclave was on Katarr, a Miraluka colony. And all of Katarr was destroyed, all of the Jedi killed...Including Master Zhar... Master Vandar..."- KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
People would laugh at him instead of fear him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Better not let the Lord Darth JarJar hear that... He was a potential apprentice, you know... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think a Gungan jedi would be sweet, if they fixed the whole speech thing <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A gungan jedi wouldn't speak like that because they would be raised by proper speaking jedi and gungans get that speach thing from other gungans around them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Gungans are to be in Star Wars games only in the way they are in Battlefront: "Meesa gonna die!!" Period!- Remote and Go-to
It's probably just so that we'll know right off what sort of characte G0T0 is, since we all recognize that droid. Did seem a bit inappropriate to see about 3000 years before Ep. IV (not Ep. I)- Wait I dont get It
You mean you want someone else to open that can instead?! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Certainly not - perish the thought- Who Kriea actually could be?
Kreia lost her connection to the force when Nihilus and Sion cast her out of the Sith order, just the Exile did when the jedi kicked him out. Kreia used Exile to regain a connection to the force through his force-bonding ability but creating a powerful bond with him. That's why she's so weak and inexperienced at the beginning of the game in spite having been a jedi master, I guess. That threw me too, at first, since I thought her lack of power was merely a consequence of the d20 system used in the KotOR games, but apparently Obsidian did work it into the plot - note how she mentions being stripped of power during the cutscene, where Nihilus and, especially, Sion kick the snot out of her... As for Wookieepedia, I actually find the comment about "mistaken identity" to be fairly neutral in that sense that either people are wrong for thinking that Kreia is Kae or for thinking that she is not (since it's one or the other). And though I do think Kreia is Kae, we cannot say that with any authority, since there is no conclusive evidence to support the claim. I'll reserve the right speak out against anyone claiming the opposite to be true, however, since there is certainly circumstantial evidence to at least suggest it. I may not be able to prove that Kreia is Kae, but neither can anyone else prove that Kreia is not Kae.- Favorite SW game

- Is that it????
But non-canonical. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmm... awk. Well, who cares? And besides, there is chance...yes there is! (w00t) At least I hope so... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It would be a first, but it's not something to hold your breath over... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nor do I. Still, it's not as if Team Gizka is adding their own stuff - all they'll be restoring was intended to be in the game by the authors, so I do think that increases the chance of having it be at least accepted as at least semi-canon. The same will probably not be the case for the M4-78 project, though, since they have no choice but to write new stuff, given how early during development the planet was cut. Makes me very curious to see what they come up with, though.- Wait I dont get It
It's true that Vash mentions in her cut dialogue that if one person falls to the dark side, then the bond between them can be cut. However, Vash also restates Zez-Kai Ell's concerns about the unusual nature of the Exile's bond with Kreia. Vash: "Yes, as many Masters and Padawans become with time. The bond can be broken in many ways. If one falls to the Dark Side, the bond may fade and eventually break. This is why, when gripped with fear, Kaah was unable to feel our bond. He assumed I was dead.He is dead. We were mentally bonded.Kaah was pulled to the Dark Side through his fear. He could no longer feel our bond.It is painful to lose one to whom you are bonded. But it is not fatal.{concerned}That is most unnatural. This bond you share with Kreia is not like any I've ever heard of. How did it come to be?{pensive}Look within for the answer. We are each solely accountable for everything in our lives." So while Vash has some interesting bits of information to tell, her knowledge on the topic does not serve to explain the bond in question - she's a mystified and concerned about it as Zez-Kai Ell and the Exile himself are, and as much at a loss to explain it too. I must also question the theory that the bond between Exile and Kreia is somehow "diluted" when the Exile forms bonds with other characters, because the effects of the bond are still clearly present no matter how many companions the Exile forms bonds with - the double effect of some force buffs (speed, resistance, etc.) on both Exile and Kreia if just one of them uses it remains present in the game continually until Kreia leaves the group, so her bond with the Exile would seem as strong as ever. I do find the last bit of Vash's comments above very interesting, though. But I don't think I want to open that can of worms again. Suffice it to say that I think this apparent plothole is purposefully left unexplained to serve as a plot device when it's explained in KotOR3- Jedi Council's meeting with the Exile on Coruscant
:D I can hear the masters now... "No, Vrook - this is a promotion for you. Really!"- Who Kriea actually could be?
Officially? No. But IMHO it's still the best and most accurate source of Star Wars information you're going to find by far, because they people behind it are remarkably dedicated to getting things right or die trying.- Is that it????
Kreia dies, end movie plays, then back to the main screen. Yup, K2 was horribly cut, and a lot of the resolutions of the characters was lost. Lots of that material is still hidden in the game files. Remember to ask Kreia questions at the end - she has quite a lot to say that shines light on many elusive topics of the game. As some have said, however, there is a Sith Lords Restoration Project, which will restore much of the cut material and seems to be coming along nicely. However, an entire planet was also cut from the game, which the M4-78 project intends to restore. But yes, it's disappointing. Blame Lucasarts and not Obsidian, though - it was Lucasarts who decided to push the deadline hard and have Obsidian cut the game to pieces - KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
That sounds uncomfortably like Trek's "redshirting" Besides, watching Jolee, Juhani and particularly Mission die in K1 was a massive emphasis on just what it means to embrace the dark side... Same with Vandar btw. That's difficult to get without doing it to characters you care about as a player. Why should I care if some extra or "crewman no. 6" (for those who've seen Galaxy Quest) gets killed? Did anyone care about Tiree or Hutch getting killed during Episode IV? Doubtful... Luke having his hand chopped off in Episode V was far more powerful, as was watching Han being merely frozen. You don't need it, but you shouldn't shy away from it as a plot mechanic either. Of course, killing characters just for the drama of it is pointless. It must serve a greater purpose to the plot if it's to have true impact on the player and enhance the experience.- Keria is the handmaiden mom??
No, all her students until that point had fallen to the dark side, so the masters exiled her. Revan was her her last hope, and then he fell too, of course, and his fall was then attributed to her dark teachings as well. It does fit. - John Cleese on soccer vs. american football
