"alpha Protocol is a cult hit, probably one of the most dynamic cause and effect games ever made. It didn't sell great, but quite a few of us loved it. " Not a cult hit. People misuse that term so much. It wa sa bomb, and it sucked. "Dungeon Siege 3 was decent for a hack & slash game, I think it met expectations in terms of sales. It wasn't a blockbuster but it seems like it was a smaller project in terms of scale." It didn't meet expecations. It failed. I never bothered to play it thoguh 'cause the demo showed it was badder than bad. "FO:NV is awesome. It is FO3 with better atmosphere and real writing. " Don't comapre this to FO3. FO3 sucked. FO:NV is awesome, and simply a fantastic game.

"Volly must be devastated " Why would I care? Time moves on. Won't effect my life at all. As always, if BIO makes games I like I buy if not I don't buy. Simple as that.

Good luck, sweet princes, in your future endeavours - espciially drinking. Wether it was being 'forced out', tired of the industry drama, or it was just time, it's all irreleevant. This is now Bioware Part 3. Let's see what's up!!

The weight of riches!
Volourn replied to Cantousent's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
"I've never played in a single tabletop game (D&D, Pathfinder, and others) where the weight of gold was taken into account for inventory limits. The simple reason is that it is tedious, and requires more maths than most people are comfortable with handling during their spare time." That's weird. In my 2+ decades of playing pnp I have never played a campaign where coinage weight wasn't taken into account. And, nobody ever complained about. It just seemed like common sense to use it. -
Class system

Ranger class has been confirmed and we know dwarves can be them. -
The best games you've produced
Volourn replied to lissom's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
"#1: Planescape Torment. Be good, be evil, take any path you want. The reactions to what you did felt realistic. Every other game I've played where alignment matter, felt very contrived. Combat was good, if a little on the easy side. #2: Icewind Dale 2: Combat was probably the best I've seen for an RPG. The story line was great. The bit about finding your way in the woods was annoying and added nothing to the game. The black dragon at the Yan-Ti(or w/e those snake people were) was just too hard to kill, you had to gimick it, and that is disapointing. #3: Baldur's Gate II: Best RPG world. Combat was as good as AD&D rules allowed (basically very exploitable if you didn't use the given characters). The dragons in BG II were some of the hardest oppoents, and yet you didn't have to find some gimik to beat them (well maybe one of them). Dragons were very good encounters. The special "curse" on the main character was interesting, and played out well." Obsidian didn't produce those games. That is a flat out lie no matter how much it is repeated. The best games Obsidian has produced are MOTB and FO:NV. Awesome games. -

Do we want elves and dwarves?

There's absolutely nothing original about Twitcher elves and dwarves. -
This is silly
Volourn replied to gongal's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Why lie? I'm not your friend. I can be silly though so youa re half right. Starting a thread strictly to attack others is very much trolling. That's what www.rpgcodex.com is for. This forum should be about getting Obsidian to put DWARVES in the game. 100% of the time. -
This is silly
Volourn replied to gongal's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
When you start a thread basically to attack fellow forumers, it is 100% a troll thread. It's also a thread destined for failure. Instead of starting a thread bashing others' threads either a) ignore them b) post in those threads why there ideas are not up to par in a civil manner or c) start a thread sharing your ideas with Obsidian and fellow forumers. Starting a thread to state others' ideas are crap and dumb and stupid and other garbage is the very definition of a troll thread. The fact *I* point out this obvious is what's really silly. L0L -
Exploration System
Volourn replied to Semper's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
1 or 2 are the best two - espciially since they stated that the focus will be on the PC and the npcs are just actors in the P's story. -

Do we want elves and dwarves?
Volourn replied to Telefax's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
"Dwarves could almost be living stone." Already bascially exist in D&D. "Dwarven wizards?" Already possible. All these 'original' ideas make me chuckle. -
Yeah, it 'worked' in FO the couple of times the ENTIRE game that it was useful in its randomness. I NEVER bothered to use it. L0L If it's soemthing a player doesn't bother to use not really useful. FO would be way worse if it did away with dialogue trees and only used this. Ultima was fun in spite of it as well. I have never seen a game that is better because it uses this system. Ever.

"No, please don't. I love BioWare, I really do, but if I wanted another BioWare game (and I do, please BioWare make more games) I'd go to BioWare. I want an Obsidian game. More than that, I want a game with focus. Too many people with too many ideas, no matter how great, are going to dilute the theme of the world. I'd worry the whole flavour of the game would shift more towards an all inclusive vanilla. I don't know what flavour we're getting but whatever it is, I want it strong." Exactly.

Most dwarf females don't have beards. Let's keep it that way. Thanks.

Do we want elves and dwarves?

"I for one wouldn't mind seeing orcs that aren't brutal killers, but rather fair, civilized people who just happen to be butt-****ing-ugly and perhaps (perhaps) physically stronger than most." These exist in D&D/FR already. Not new.
