  1. Nope, you're not the only one. Although I do understand, when being Kickstarted, wanting certain promises/expectations to be met and all. But there's still a certain point where I think the dev's should be allowed to proceed with their own vision/s. Too many cooks and all that.
  2. Obviously probably won't ever happen, but if I did get a dog, it'd be some type/variation of the well known golden retriever. Because, y'know, they're adorable.
  3. Extra big storm supposedly coming to town. Rain, winds w/super high gust speeds, blah blah. They even closed the schools, don't think they've done that in over a decade. Seems like an over-cautious thing to do, but whatever. Our little garage's lift-door has a tendency to let in a wide puddle of water a couple feet in, due to wind direction at times, under normal heavy rains. This could get interesting. I already put hubby's power cords off the floor just in case. Told him to move anything near the front he didn't want wet. If it gets wet, not my problem. I love storms...I think I'll be standing outside in the morning, watching. Hopefully I won't blow away. Brent Spiner once said to me "That's because I am your husband", via Twitter. Granted, it's not porn star infamy, but ... but ... he replied! *geekgasm*
  4. So? It's a minecraft-y blocks+kill zombie swarms game. Graphics aren't why people play it. It does look (or feel?) a tad better when actually in-game running around...until you chop down all the trees/grass, haha. Ah...that's why they call them "Spider" zombies (climbing w/no ladders, eek). Also, didn't put spikes deep enough, so they waltzed onto the main platform...then I stupidly fell down trying to shoot them and died. Should keep them off platform better now. Started to make a weird tower over my bunker entrance, but I get belly flops (vertigo) as I go up and down the ladders+look over edges to place blocks, so I stopped. Game-vertigo seems to get worse as I get older, it's weird.
  5. Immune to indoor pollution, no gas mask needed no matter how much I burn. The temp room while I work on the main stuff What will be the underground garden area (have to dig skylights 1st...). Still working on design of it.
  6. Barn owl: "That's not a mouse." Mr. Black would also like to know how to use Amazon to order catnip.
  7. A new, warm catbed/pad, put it on floor. Cat sniffs it, looks at me funny (it's not food), walks away. (much later) Hubby comes home, comes in my den, says "your cat likes his new bed." I go look...he's lying on it all cute-like, purring and pawing and looking so kewl. It may take them a few to realize it, but they do appreciate what you do for them. Of course, by the time I grabbed a camera, he was up and following after me for attention instead. Signed, Obsessed Cat Lover
  8. It'd be nice if one could sum up the point in the videos, assuming there is one, for those that don't want to spend 50 minutes watching them. As to the general inquiry - we (humans) get older and we are often, at least in part, stuck in our ways and what we want to at least some degree. When we aren't getting what we want, maybe because times/industries change, things seem "worse." It's not like there wasn't plenty of dreck in the "old days" too. I still think it's like asking "why are AAA films getting worse." Market/business growth=skewed to mass market/profit, not niche tastes. Smaller scale projects seem to be where the old-fashioned is, more, not giants like Skyrim. Just like indie movies are often where the quality/more interesting stories may be. At any rate ... I have two personalized elements that turn me off from a lot of RPG's and games in general at the moment. And they have nothing to do with story per se.. 1--GUI's that are designed to work with gamepad's (and stay that way for PC). They can work fine, yes, but I'll never like them/still think it's quite limiting. 2--too much watching cinematic/npc's, not enough me.
  9. Xmas feels false/about money if that's what (whomever) makes it about. Which admittedly in terms of the media deluge, is very wearying. The "tradition" and commercial aspects of any holiday don't hold much water with me...but the spirit they're often about does. Family (whatever family means to you), giving, celebrating life. So I just try to think about that ... when I think about them at all, that is. We've discussed doing something more interesting with time off this year, but we'd rather save/use for other things right now. Plus, as usual, we're just lazy homebodies. But my favorite/cheapest idea was turning the back of my Legacy into a cat-safe travel area so hubby, I, and my cat could go to Vegas and see some shows etc. Well, Mr. Black wouldn't see the shows. But I bet he's the type of cat who'd like traveling/staring out the windows and tearing up fancy hotel comforters while we're out.
  10. Season 10 of Supernatural has been kind of a snoozer, after the first 2-3 episodes. Then again, it could partly be, as I told my husband, that "I love my Supernatural, but I like it a fair bit less watching it week to week..." Walking Dead started off great, then slowed the action pace down again...but the plot pacing has been a lot faster than typical. Stuff isn't dragged on and on forever, I mean. The half-season ender was ok, but wasn't a shocker to me. The show needs more Rick-time. And they can stop teasing us with Morgan and just get to it, already.
  11. Had a nice lunch/visit during a grey afternoon. Now settling into my desk chair for some more obsessive gaming to the tune of all the hit singles of the 70's and 80's that I can handle. The neighborhood has been very loud in the mornings the past few days. Construction noise from next door + a few blocks over from some business + that damn rooster. Headphones were a nice invention.
  12. 7DtD - finally created the perfect sloping with a couple turns tunnel down to bedrock (essentially the dig-limit) in the perfect place! Problem is, I can't decide how to design the actual bunker now. Dig a huuuuge square and use blocks to create rooms and such, I guess. Despite being at bedrock depth, I can still hear the very loud squeal when the pigs randomly die above me. The sound effect mechanics in the game need a lot of work....
  13. So long, Ralph Baer (92yo), inventor of the "brown box" gaming console, and more importantly, this:
  14. Cat: "This isn't bacon, where's the bacon?" Aw.
  15. Spent the day being a recluse and feeling a bit blue re: a lost friend. Sister/brother in-laws are in town. That might cheer me up a little. They're always entertaining.
  16. ^^ I personally had great fun clearing out that black fog in BG1, one stripe at a time. And if I hadn't done it, I would have missed finding Drizzt and getting a laff. Among other things. BG2 left me rather bored, map design wise, at the time. That said, I do think I wouldn't have as much patience or curiosity with such a design today (BG1), in terms of the amount of black stripes I'd have to march the party back and forth to clear it out. And Skyrim did have way too much wandering of literally nothing. Still, I prefer feeling as if every single atom in the game doesn't have to have a "point" to it. That's what makes a world feel more immersive, to me. Otherwise it's just about going from A to B and back again for quests, which results in a linear feeling even if the points aren't going in a literal straight line. If there's not much wandering or exploration for exploration's sake (freedom), sure the design is tight and concise, but it also feels much more confined and scripted. Something in the middle, these days, for me.
  17. Finally...all updated. That took forever. The past few months I've had more eyestrain/fatigue when at the pc for hours. Dry eyes, almost but not quite headaches, that sort of thing. I read some articles about blue light/monitors/melatonin and other stuff, so I bought some amber/polarizing sunglasses and tried wearing them if doing something like gaming or whatever for long periods. It doesn't help me get to sleep any earlier, and I have no clue about retinal damages, but it sure helps with the eye fatigue. Only problem is that it means I'm "one of those douchebags who wear sunglasses at night." ...
  18. You could try making a paper-list of all the games that are "maybes", tacking it to a wall, and tossing a dart. Whatever game it hits, that's the one!
  19. It's been over a year since I've done any Windows updating. Yes, I'm like that. So I finally get around to it, check the ones I want, hit "do it" ... an hour later it's still downloading. It's not huge size wise. For a long time it was stuck at 0%. Now it's almost done downloading. Also, accidentally deleted the Administrative/Summary error log file thingie Windows has. I wonder if that'll make anything explode. I'm hoping it'll just recreate itself... I used to love computers/being a geek about how they work, diving into their innards. Yeah, I'm so over that now.
  20. Would be my guess. Either that or he's been taken over by pod people. At any rate ... yeah, this one's not going anywhere.
  21. The nanomachines guy, in one of the pics, reminds me of Hank Henshaw/Cyborg. ...I keep wanting to post a picture of an awesome 7DtD underground bunker, but holy crow it's taking forever to get anywhere. So far I have three protected entrances, temp small side rooms, and the early/initial connecting tunnel that takes me over two minutes real-time to run through. And I'm not even half as deep as I'm going to be. People must spend weeks on their fancy deco bunker things.
  22. That was my thought when I saw this thread again. I can't believe it's been two. I could swear it was only a year ago...
  23. You're making laugh again, stop that. I don't think "crowd" really has a defined number, outside of the fact it's more than several and is associated with some event/rally/gathering. Big enough to seem out of the norm if you see them while just walking down the street.
  24. My own cat....definitely makes me happy.
