"Modern" graphics I tend to like scenery and vistas a lot (except when over-enhanced via bloom or whatnot), but I still have major issues with people/animals. It's akin to watching CGI monsters/humanoids/action scenes in movies and knowing it's CGI (especially when in motion)...even if it's very technically impressive it feels cold and never naturalistic and leaves me unmoved. I don't loathe it and sometimes it's fine for eye-candy, it just does nothing for "immersion" improvement for me. If anything, it gets in the way because I keep noticing and thinking about it. I don't prefer old vs. new or new vs. old, case by case as some have said, but it has become difficult for me to play truly ancient arcadey/console graphic styled games or whatever. Actually, it was always a little hard for me to get into those games, even back then, which is one reason I didn't start to get really into video gaming until Doom1/that era, perhaps. In the end, I think I find aesthetics more appealing - that is, graphics that feel like they have more personality, vs. graphics that are trying to constantly imitate reality.

Seems like it, lately. I'm sure I'll get bored of most of it before long. Just something different than rpg/arpg/action I guess and appeals to my meticulous strategy/design nature. Also, $10-$20.

Was bored, decided to try the early-access game Cast Away Stranded Deep. Picked up coconuts, harvested logs and palm leaves, found a volleyball and named it Wollie, hunted crab, speared fish, rafted to another island, and explored sea wrecks for loot. Saw a shark while underwater, but no pic of that because I shrieked a little, considered my rusty chipped rock axe, then frantically swam back to shore without looking back.

^^ So much this. Most effects/graphical "enhancements" in games, I end up turning off/forcing off if it's somehow an option. Sometimes I like shadows, graphically, but most of the time I find even those rather unnecessary or at least unnatural looking. In some games I've liked what ambient occlusion does (not that I really understand what it does, only what I think of it when I turn it on/off). I tend to always like rain, however ... it's a mood thing. Nothing new to report about what I'm playing. Still 7DtD off and on.

It's possible the autosave (checkpoints) became corrupted. Verify Steam cache etc. or reinstall the game. If it keeps on happening, try manually saving instead of relying on autosave. Maybe if you do that, you'll at least be able to load a manual saves if a checkpoint save corrupts. Not sure tho...

If I met a real estate agent who looked like Agent 47, I think I'd look for another agent, heheh. Probably not good for camo when you want camo, either. The L lenses are my pr0n. I'm just weird that way. ...although some people decorate/slipcover them, apparently. They're definitely not good for subterfuge.

That scope is sexy. Maybe because it reminds me of the Canon L lenses. Or just because it is. Today I woke up, did laundry, then headed out to meet with a real estate agent I know. Annnnd car wouldn't start. So now I'm waiting for the agent to come pick me up. :D

Chicken liver is for catfishing. ...chicken hearts and liver can be pretty tasty. I still preferred beef liver's tho, if made right (they can get way too dry, easily).

Today I signed up for the ballroom lessons to check that one place out and brush up. Later there's another spot for a more casual group weekly meetings. I also applied to volunteer for one of those meals on wheels kind of non-profits. There's an outdoor trail/park building/upkeep volunteer program I'd love to get into as well, they're hard work but kinda like weekend camp-outs and always sounded like fun. But they apparently fill up fast when they do their things (which isn't too often I think). Maybe I'll get into one of them this year.

All I care about is the t-shirt. I like t-shirts. Ok, the signed stuff is always cool, but ... t-shirt, man, t-shirt.

Dune film from the 80's? I wouldn't bother. Although I guess if you're just curious ... and you have a lot of booze... SyFy mini-series was certainly better, so I'd try that one first. But mostly I think it's just one of those books that can't be captured on screen without seeming ... too weird or watered down. Difficult to visualize/realize. Dunno. I re-watched CA:Winter Soldier. I think I like it better every time I see it. First film was ok but kinda dull, imo. And while the sequel has plenty of one liner cheese and the usual over the top wild action, somehow it all works. Maybe it's Chris Evans, maybe it's Anthony Mackie. Maybe it's even Redford having fun with his role. Whatever. It's entertaining.

Not technically related, but my thing with monitors is their height vs. my chair/sitting height. I need the center of screen to be at least eye-level if not higher. If I place them directly on the desk, they're too low (even if they have height adjustments, it's usually not enough) and I either get bad neck pain from looking down-ish, or back pain from constant slouching. So I always have them on a pedestal or a few books or whatever. I built my current rig 6 years ago and it's been very nice indeed not to have to build a new one for so long, but I'm starting to really itch for shiny upgrades by now. Hopefully what I build at year's end will last me just as long, however.

I watched occasionally in the 80's, occasionally in the 90's, occasionally in the 2000's....you get the idea. Usually there's some momentary period with a certain regular skit that I like, or it's because I like the host, or whatever. Oh yeah, and in the 80's, I often tuned in for the music acts. The past 5+ years I've rarely tuned in tho, just not that into the show overall anymore, so not familiar with anyone recent. It's consistent at being inconsistent, whether you watch it regularly or semi-regularly, because people tend to find that certain periods/alums suit their personal tastes more than other periods/alums. Such is comedy. :D

This is why I don't like buying tech anymore. Never know what "tests" or what "gurus" are going to fit your personal parameters. I just buy (from a walkin store), and if I don't like it, I take it back. Maybe I should just get the less expensive Titan, because even tho I swore I wouldn't do something like that again, sometimes I'm still a fool.

^^ Been there. Don't have an issue with height usually (haha) but I still haven't found one that feels stable but isn't too heavy and has the positional flexibility I want. I may not hike in tall mountains, but I still like having a tripod when I take walks in parks or whatever. Sometimes a monopod doesn't cut it.

*rolls her eyes* ...it's odd because some of that type of humor I can find very funny, but often I'll just sit and stare at the screen yawning. I guess like with all humor it's mostly whether or not I can relate to what the jokes are referencing, and often I don't. Or it's a matter that what I find funny in a 1 minute short form grows tiresome in movie-length form.

Memory Lane: for some reason today I miss my grey dwarf hamster. The way she'd hind-leg bear-dance on top of her plastic igloo to greet me when I came in the door. I'd get another one but it wouldn't be the same (the other one I acquired along with her was very different). Funny how even the smallest creatures can have such varying "personalities." I've been eating a bit more overall this month but still my clothes are getting too baggy (!) so since my appetite is returning I decided I'm going to make some greasy sausage/peppers and rice for dinner. Along with the usual yogurt. And some Cuties mandarin oranges. Tis the season and they are so juicy/delish.

SNL has been "inconsistent" for decades. It's just the nature of comedy skit shows.

That's pretty impressive, even for relatively static imagery. Certain things don't look quite right but stuff like the floor and couch textures are excellent. I wonder what the modeling process was. Edit: to clarify, I'm commenting on the video I saw on YT.

You and me both. Well, except for the Gfted part. I have my own oft-repeated thingies. When I do get creative it's usually in the form of some play-on-spelling joke name or something.

In other film news: I saw the documentary "Terror at the Mall" about the Westgate mall attack. I can't speak to the obvious "authorities were mostly terrible/ineffective" slant the doc. emphasizes, but the documentary, with it's use of almost nothing but mall security footage/interviews with those in the videos and occasionally an on-site journal photographer's rapid fire photos (stitched together to make jerky motion pictures, I gather) certainly make for a harrowing account of the situation, from several perspectives. It's one that will stick with me a while I imagine.
