  1. Am I the only one who doesn't understand the appeal of watching other people play games? No, you're not the only one. There are only a few reasons I watch such things: 1--I'm looking to see if the gameplay is something I might be interested in. And then I'll skip around randomly for a few minutes, not watch a whole 30 min. video. 2--the player is more of a comedy performer, where commentary makes me lol a lot. I happen across those once in a while but I don't actively search them out. 3--it's my husband and I can sit on the couch and make fun of him.
  2. Being a family forum, I can't say what that contraption makes me think of.
  3. Sometimes it's best to agree to disagree and let things go. We don't always have to have the last word in. Hinthint. On topic: I, for one, do think the running animations are bit strange. It's not bad, but there is something a bit odd about them that I can't put my finger on. Maybe the way they come to a stop feels a bit too abrupt or something. But I don't mind if they aren't changed....I get used to such things quickly and doesn't take me long to not notice.
  4. I'd like it if at least the trees had some occasional swaying/rustling movement leaf-wise, but I don't mind the grass not moving. I just pretend it's not windy. I've walked in fields of tall wild weeds/grasses and honestly, if it's not windy, you really don't notice it moving that much, except when you touch it. I mean, it probably moves, but when you're walking and looking at the sky/ground/trees and talking to others if around, you just don't notice. My one very small quibble, when I looked at the it, is I feel like the grass is too tall in the game.
  5. What is middle ground in this case? I don't like either trailer and my interest in both films thus far is "I'll wait for it to come on on-demand and even then I probably won't get around to it for a while."
  6. After many restarts and endless exploration within those, I've finally found the perfect spot to make a base in 7DtD. Triangular cluster of 3 stone/brick houses. Place for gardens, even "pools." and fancy furniture/attics. But mostly, I can make a huge base underground w/tunnel entrances from/to the 3 homes, with above-ground being a triangular zone of zombie traps for that 7 day cycle. Too much fun. Also: zombie world disasters: the only time I condone burning books. Gotta clean up that water so I don't die of thirst, hunger or dysentery!
  7. Being the lazy and pampered brat that I am, I'm probably going to spend more of my day playing games. I might run some errands/do some chores. But that doesn't sound very fun. I may go for a walk with the camera in a bit during/when I need breaks. It's been rainy and I do love taking waterdrop macros. Even if most of the time they're not very good ones.
  8. I have the feeling a lot of Americans still just "know" Communism from the leftover flavors of propaganda from the World Wars and Cold War. And of course, the movies. But as always, I could be wrong.
  9. This is probably because, exactly like the very rich, they tend to, at least eventually, become very concerned with losing what luxury they do have. Maybe more so, because they don't have the filthy-rich cushion of having millions/billions in their backpocket in case of bad times. Also, the funny thing in semi-recent years has been how almost everyone that isn't very poor or very rich considers themselves middle-class. On the one hand, the "middle class" is disappearing...on the other hand, "everyone" is middle class.
  10. No, I mean stuff like seatbelt and helmet laws (for adults). Welfare...I think conceptually it's not a terrible thing (helping out a bit when ppl have a difficult period) but in practice it's very lacking. So far I wouldn't want to get rid of it completely but it needs overhaul. Then again, when it comes down to it, I really don't care that much. It's not one of my strong interest areas. I/we are not in the 1%, no. According to wikipedia we'd be in the top 10%. Which doesn't mean quite as much here in SFBay Area as it might in other areas. But we are not poor. And that's with hubby working about half as many hours as the average person does.
  11. I suppose that's fairly close to me. I don't want police states. I don't want anarchy. I see some laws as a necessary and sometimes inconvenient (to me personally) system to help prevent anarchy, but I don't like having too many laws/too much regulation or "nanny" laws. Especially the latter. Which is what's annoying me about certain patterns in the US the past couple decades. So many nannies. I'm liberal in a lot of areas like environmental laws and freedom of choice/equal rights, but outside of those I'm mildly to fairly conservative in many areas, much to the head-shaking of my very Demo./liberal family, at times. ;p
  12. Watching The Walking Dead now. One thing I really can't stand anymore re: AMC shows is their constant self-promotion. I'm already watching the show, please stop crowing about how awesome it is and how I should watch it, while I'm watching it. This whole weekend was lazylazylazy. I can't believe it's already Sun. night. Edit: omg, Better Call Saul preview. Looks hilarious. I love Saul!
  13. I'd agree the questions are too "binary" ..... but then, most questionnaires like these are. Kind hard not to be unless they're essay questions. You are a: Right-Leaning Anti-Government Progressive Collectivism score: -17% Authoritarianism score: -17% Internationalism score: 0% Tribalism score: 0% Liberalism score: 50% It's interesting that if I go back and change the answer to one question, the tribalism score went -17% and I become a Right-Leaning Anti-Government Cosmopolitan Progressive, whatever the heck that means. I started to take that isidewith.com test but my attention wandered and I doubt I answered them with much thought. Plus side, it allowed for more indepth answers. Still, I'm not a very "political" person and barely know who these parties are anymore. But it gave me these: Democrats 87 Green Party 82 Libertarians 68 Conservative 53 Constitution 52 (I think "Socialist" was down there at 40%ish) ...probably not surprising.
  14. Haha, that fake trailer is hilarious. That's the great thing about bad movies/media...they may be bad, but they keep giving the gift of laughter, so it's ok.
  15. I was just digging through rock and earth in 7DtD and...is it just me, or is that a face in the rock? And does it sorta look like a kitty-god or somesuch? Weirdest thing ever, only saw it the once.
  16. @Guard Dog -- If you just paste the link, no code around it at all, the auto-forum software embeds it for you when it's posted. Although, last I knew, I think it doesn't like the secure address in YT links. Prefers http, not https. So that could be the issue this time. ....... Today I obsessed over 7 Days to Die. I've decided I like it. For the moment.
  17. *looks at pictures, reads the posts since earlier this afternoon* This thread is full of win. Especially Lexx's 'shopped lightsaber pic. ...as to JJ, I think that's why I figure they might be a tad better than the prequels. I did find his Star Treks at least visually entertaining in that bombastic, short attention span action way. Not that I think of them as Star Trek, mind you. Whereas the SW prequels just made me frown or groan 99% of the time. That 1% wasn't too bad, tho.
  18. Variety is the spice of life....if one doesn't like one spice, one switches to another spice, and that way everyone at least has something that they can enjoy.
  19. Why does the lightsaber look more like a wielding torch? It's wavering more than the flames on my gas cooktop. And yes the hilt is stupid. I suppose it's so the wielder can brag about his dexterity at avoiding injuring himself with it. Start of trailer makes me think it's a comedy, end of the trailer reminds me of Game of Thrones ads. I did like the brief glimpse of what I assume is a Tatooine homestead (bit with girl on bike). Don't care about a new gimmicky "because we can" rollerball-droid. Anyway...I have no great expectations for this film. The prequels killed most of my interest in the franchise. But who knows...maybe Disney will pull it off. But (for me at least)...I doubt it. Although almost anything would at least be a bit better than those prequels.
  20. Ah...7DTD's "low enemies" setting does work. I thought it was bugged or something. Guess it only works when you first start a save file/game. Much better vs. what felt like zombies every 10 feet even in the middle of the desert. Now to figure out how to make kewl bases.
  21. I've seen that one. Cute, but seems more scavenge/combat and less building. I'm one of those who wouldn't mind no combat at all, at least sometimes, really....why does everything have to have combat in order to have a funness "point". It'd be cool to have a huge survival sandbox world (hunger/thirst/shelter etc) with lots of looting, crafting, fishing/hunting, digging/building, but no enemies by default. When you were bored or built a base, you could use commands to trigger invasions if you wanted. Or at the most, certain small zones would be danger ones, but resources from those areas wouldn't be absolutely essential to survival...more like for luxury stuff. And no, I don't want The Sims.
  22. 7 Days to Die is graphically rudimentary (mostly) and so far I find it easier/more effective to smack zombies with my fist than with teensy knives or bone shivs. I like the looting aspect of the game (not surprising), haven't figured out building yet. Crafting required me to look up the wiki. Much more to do than in The Long Dark but yet somehow I like TLD better so far. One day I'll find my perfect item looting/building with a bit of survival tossed in, sim.
