  1. Walking Dead - Episode had many small moments that made me laugh out loud. Seems like a lot of set up and they sure are trying to make the viewer suspicious of a few new chrs right off the bat. Anyway...not an action episode, but some hilarity made up for it. Carol dressed up like that, teehee. Liked the zombie apoc. version of father-son bonding moment, too. Hah!
  2. Path of Exile - it's always nice to have an online game where even if you log in only once a year, all your stuff is still there. I guess I'm still "scarred" from those Diablo2 days of having to sign in every few months or whatever it was or lose all your mules. My biggest beef with the game still exists - I've never liked its click-to-hit interface. I don't know why. It's no different on paper than Diablo's click to attack, but yet I constantly feel like I click and end up running forward instead of hitting anything, forcing use of the stand-still key 100% of the time. No sense of feedback, or they stack too much when in large groups, or they move faster than I can move cursor and click, no clue. Very aggravating after a while. At any rate...outside of that the game always looks and performs better each time I try. But still an ARPG where I admire it in concept a lot more than I do in execution. But! I'd still like my own hideout, soon as I figure out that system (something about Masters...). Because I'm like that. Then I'll probably logoff for another year.
  3. With some games infinite replay with the same character is great/fine and even expected. Other games I don't feel it's appropriate at all. Games like PoE, BG, etc. are in the latter category. Choices and consequences should have at least a bit of meaning - not just the big plot/chr. consequences but whether you can afford a suddenly coveted item at the end or not. If you don't sell items because you're always worried you may need them "someday", that's a choice. If you use items instead of selling them, that's a choice. And so on. This type of game, I hope for a consequence for my actions, even if it's a small consequence. Is it irritating at times? Yup, can be. I still ideally want them there. I'll make a guess that, just like in the older games, at some in PoE we'll all be feeling at least moderately flush with funds, so I kinda doubt it'll be a major issue for most anyway. And of course, one can always do it "perfectly" during a 2nd playthrough or something. I value re-playability more than "infinite play" with a single chr./save, I guess.
  4. I've always been a single-player. Even the MMO/online games I've played, I've largely gone it alone as far as those games would allow me to. I have occasionally played with randoms or online friends in the past but not much at all in recent years. ...then my husband decided he like the Borderlands series and we've played a lot of LAN co-op. Which has been a lot of fun in the mayhem category. But I still vastly prefer playing all by my lonesome and games that are designed to be played single-player. It is definitely a type of escape for me...I don't play games to be social. Although I have spent time in "towns" just chatting, but then when I want to actually play, I run off by myself. That said, I do get/understand that competitive gameplay is certainly more fun against humans than stupid-AI, and co-op can definitely make a combat more tactical/fun. Even so, (with no offense to my husband), 99% of the time, "I want to be alone."
  5. It's far too late to add in romanceable characters in March's release of PoE. The topic of whether PoE will have/should have/should not have story-romance has been discussed to death practically from the beginning. There are definitely others here who also enjoy/would like to have romance in their rpg's, and as Lord Wafflebum pointed out, there is a thread dedicated to the topic. So if you'd like to discuss why you enjoy romance and what your hopes are for its inclusion in PoE sequels etc., please feel free to add your thoughts there.
  6. Read that Path of Exile now has something called "hideouts," which intrigued me. Clicked on my game shortcut and will now probably spend the next hour "checking resources", downloading and installing a zillion updates since the last time I looked at it. If that goes well, maybe I'll get that cat pet this time. Just because. Is anyone still playing it, and if so, are hideouts something difficult to acquire? eg, tons of grinding, high level chrs, all that? I'm guessing it takes some commitment...not sure I have it, but maybe I'll try for a bit.
  7. Hiya Cant - congrats on the weight loss and wishing you continued success! ...Note to self: should probably avoid any dances that resemble The Twist on speed. Painful/swollen knees today, first time in a while. Sitting around with knees up etc. Oh well, I suppose it was worth it.
  8. Previous thread The House at the End of Time A Venezuelan suspense/thriller/horror film with a twist ending. Gradual build up with the twist being pretty well done, I thought. I mean, some may see it coming mid-way but it's done well. Certainly nothing like the typical US affairs, more understated tonally, but perhaps for that reason I liked it. Bad Turn Worse Heard about this one because Mark Pellegrino kept tweeting it on his Twitter a while back. Meant to, but never got around to it. It's on Netflix now, so I gave it a spin. The crime thriller aspect is fairly typical and I'd give the film a mediocre rating, but Pellegrino is worth watching if you like the actor. Also tried to watch a 1961 blk/wht film with William Shatner called The Explosive Generation, (also on Netflix) but despite it maybe being one of Shatner's better performances (eg, not "hammy"), I couldn't stand the early 60's version of after-school type drama and ended up skipping to Shatner's parts then turning it off.
  9. Time to sneak into a new theater.
  10. Round Table was a fair bit better 30 years ago, too. I still consider it one of the better "chains"...rather have it than Pizza Hut/Mountain Mikes, by far. Most better pizza I've had are at Italian restaurant combos. Although I did like Windy City's thick pies (I think they might be gone now tho).
  11. Oh great. Now I'm going to spend all afternoon watching Star Trek clips and being all nostalgic and sad. RIP - he lived long and prospered.
  12. Just realizing that soon it'll be 10 years since I registered here. Which isn't quite as long as many of you, but mostly it's just the thought of ... 10 years. Been some times, those 10 years, both IRL and here. Wonder what's in store for the next 10. ...unrelated: I need more cat icons/smilies.
  13. Just a tad. I didn't feel like it worked in that Cowboy's movie at any rate. But maybe he'll just play the grumpy old retired cop sort of thing. I'd be surprised if there wasn't some other new chr. to go along, as well.
  14. ^^ Sorry for any confusion. It's one of those auto-habits, from my experiences of how often others think "BayArea" = San Francisco. 35 minute drive away but I really know nothing about SF, except that sometimes what's common there isn't common here.
  15. Lack of awesome 'net infrastructure is still one of the problems, imo (in the US). Just like our roads are getting old and our lack of public transport. Demand growing faster than infrastructure is upgraded. Perhaps no throttling allowed etc. but more bandwidth use tiers. People like my mother, super cheap low price. People like me & hubby - yeah, our unlimited would probably triple in cost. Hahaha.
  16. All I know is that before Netflix started paying Comcast more for a "fast lane", I couldn't use Netflix at all during most of the day, because slow loading on their site meant streaming movies was impossible. The only time I could watch Netflix was between 1am-8am. Since Netflix has been paying more, I've been able to watch Netflix whenever, whatever time of day/night I want. If certain places/services = oodles more bandwidth considerations/costs for companies like Comcast, I don't really have a big issue with them wanting to charge more to either Netflix or to the consumer who wishes to use those sites, for all that mega bandwidth use. It doesn't seem unreasonable, at least in theory. Someone has to pay for it eventually. Price of using the 'net for mulitmedia entertainment vs. the past mostly low-bandwidth "information sharing." But of course I don't want Comcast or others to be able to throttle any site they please, whenver, which I'm positive Comcast did/does (purposeful throttling isn't the same as access-demand just causing slowdowns). Nor do I really want to see ISP contracts dividing things up like cableTV - "standard internet, $35! standard internet+YouTube, $50! standard internet+youTube+netflix/amazon movie/hulu $90!" etc. So I can understand the fears. And I have no idea what could alleviate/be a good solution.
  17. I wasn't, but now I am. That's pretty funny. http://www.psu.com/forums/showthread.php/214782-BioWare-RPG-clich%C3%A9-chart You're not understanding the difference I was making between overall plot points vs. details aspect, are you?
  18. P.S. - I should probably clarify that I do tend to recall characters more than plots/story/setting details. So there are probably games where at some point I went "this chr. and their backstory really reminds me of some specific other chr." --but then I can't recall which game/chr. it was and the thought passes. It's what happens to some of us when there's too many years of stories crammed into the brain...
  19. I call dibs on this one.
  20. Cleaned out Grim Dawn mules (well, partially...), remembered my best geared/high dmg. chr. is still likely the best chr. and will try Act3 with her. I've been thinking about that myself, recently. I swore I never would again, but it's been several years now and...the problem is, if I think about D2 for more than a few minutes I can still remember everything, so I suspect I'd install, play it for 2 hours, then not touch it again.
  21. For some reason I thought this was about the MMO at first. I still haven't played more than a small bit of Kotor1. Kotor2 is what I played first and like what often happens to me in such cases, I played that one so much I burnout on the whole concept and then can't get into/play the "original" afterwards.
  22. Those are specifics. The saying "only 9 (or 10, or 12) plots" refers to the basic overreaching plot, not the minute details of how they're brought about. It's just one of those sayings, with many grains of truth but not necessarily to be taken super literally... Anyway, games having similar plots is no different than the 1000's of films and TV shows with the same basic plots/premises. I can't remember the last time I saw a movie where the plot itself (not the details or how's, but the plot) wasn't something I've seen before. Video games haven't been around as long...but they are still going to be influenced heavily by whatever the developers of a game have read, watched, or played themselves. I can't really think of a specific game that reminds me another game story wise, because to me they're all largely the same to begin with if that make sense - the details can make them either more or less interesting, but it still all feels familiar.
  23. ^ I assume it's a not-red sauce? Potato on pizza isn't common around here...by "here" I mean far out of San Fran. Might be everywhere in SF for all I know. I think Amici's has a version of it, but that's not where I saw it. Around here chicken+seafood+spinach or other vegies and feta/ricotta seems the main things on the 'artisan" pizzas, really.
  24. Totally forgot about Grim Dawn again ... 2nd part of Act3 out now I guess, enough to make me consider playing it once more. But way too many chrs/items that I should ruthlessly clean out beforehand, that makes me too lazy to dive in. Maybe I should just delete them all and start completely over...but that can take even longer. Hum... *goes back to Caesar3, instead*
  25. I personally wouldn't doubt if it happened at some point, but whether it would actually mean the end of society as we know it, in a total doomsday sort of sense, or just a very extended period of mass starvation/forced restructuring, I wouldn't pretend to know. My plan is still to be dead before anything of that nature happens.
