  1. This sorta thing bugs me in K1 as well. In K! you can get the Bastilla romance finished (well the interaction finished until star forge part) BUT if you play it right you can have Jollee lecture you about love after that point with Bastila there. Even though Jollees love lecture pretains directly to you and Bastilla she stands there saying nothing at all like she wasnt there. Both games made mistakes like this one you discribe. Hopefully in K3 the writters will pay more attention to small details like this.
  2. If you have played Morrowind you'd have known that was a typo to begin with A game like Morrowind probably wasn't even possible in 96 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> err as i said, played it for a less then a week and put it down, was all that interesting to me. And ? LOL, far as graphics go, yup it was, far as story goes, yup it was. Hell some of those first creatures you meet just outside of port town look comparable to some old EGA graphic games! Whole game looked like a early FPS to me to be honest. Whats so special about it that you think it wasnt doable at 96? I just dont follow Im afraid. Where talking Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind right?
  3. heh i always killed them all anyways (as DS or LS) just for the xp
  4. My guess would be is because it cuts down on the cutscreen interactions and backstories if someone else playing one of the NPCs. Which honestly would take away from the KotOR games. Think about K1, what if a player was playing HK. How many ammusing and entertaining dialoges would have been lost and replaced with "wat up dude". I do think multiplayer RPGs are doable with out diminishing the quality of them, but I just cant see K1 or 2 being such games to be honest.
  5. Monster hits are things like FF/Dragon Warriors , GTA , Halo et al. Well the market was a lot smaller back in the days of FFI. Like I said though. If you can't break a million with cinema advertising (you know thats really ,really rare dont you ?) then you can't really claim JE as a hit. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sure market was alot smaller back then in general. But how big do you think the XBox only market is? Its pretty limited as well. BTW, what exactly do you mean by cinema advertising (im guessing your speaking about theaters but figured Id ask anyways). I will say I see alot more advertisments on TV, in mags, ect for products like Madden Footbal, Wrestling, latest FPS (Call to Arms 2 being the most recent) and those dont shatter 600k or million marks. Id even go so far as to say TV advertisements reach a FAR larger crowd then ones in theaters (and play alot more often... annoyingly) Point is, you have set the bar way to high to honestly and fairly evaluate the games success. Success is: Did the game reach its projected sales and make money! I personally dont know what Biowares Projections were but since they have CHOOSEN to do a sequel and have said it was a success, I gotta assume it did! Simple as that. Was it well recieved? Yes Did it make money? Yes Does it have a continued following? Yes Thats pretty much a recipe for success right there! No clue where this million mark comes from but its pretty unrealist in todays gaming world to be honest, when releaseing on ONE platform only! If it released on PC as well as XBox, well then it better break a million, but it didnt so a mute point. Last point to keep in mind is JE release AFTER XBox 360 was announced. Everyone already knew the platform was about to become obsolete. That means not many are going to run out and buy a XBox to try JE. Those with broken XBoxs arent rushing out to replace their systems. Timing is everything and JEs timing wasnt great for its platform.
  6. Sorry! POTENTIAL income for those anal retentive folks around!
  7. LOL, well it pains me to agree with Vol. I think your focasing in on MONSTER HITS far to much Shadow. Million + is a MONSTER HIT. 600k is VERY Respectable (and classified as a hit) and more then enough to warrent additional expansion. Many a game out there would love to hit the 600k mark. Hell they would like to hit the 150k mark. Also not fair to compare FF to JE. FF has what? 12 products out now? JE has one. Lets see what the sales figures are when JE hits expansion 12 (if it does), Im willing to guess it also will be over a million. I know for a fact FF didnt sell 600k+ in its first time out on the market. PS: I agree with you about game size and combat though. However I "THINK" Bioware has learned that point now! Im hoping anyways
  8. Morrowind released in 1996??? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> heh, just going with what EBGames has listed for it. Id never played it so went to buy a used copy and thats the release date EB had for it. Thats not the GotY edition though, FTR. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> February 2004 (GOTY) November 2002 (Regular). -UK release dates of course. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> hmm weird, they had 96 and 2000 listed on EB, typo I guess. I stand corrected!
  9. Morrowind released in 1996??? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> heh, just going with what EBGames has listed for it. Id never played it so went to buy a used copy and thats the release date EB had for it. Thats not the GotY edition though, FTR. Same Shado. I just picked it up last week and already put it down to be honest. Some freinds found it and kept telling me how great it was so I bought it, but the story really didnt grab me at all from the get go. heh, maybe Bioware and Obsidian have spoiled me now, But if it doesnt have indepth characters like K1 and 2 and JE, Im just not interested anymore. who knows!
  10. Good news that Obsidian WANTS to do it. Cant really see LA turning them down as its such a huge money maker. Course KotOR series is slowly starting to sound like FOX in regards to (forget name now, first 2 XMen director). For what ever reason (no matter how successful both XMen were) FOX never wanted the director and has now replaced him. KotOR series also hugely successful yet LA seems to throw it on the back burner and pay it little attention. Anyone wanna even GUESS how much income they have lost now by not going ahead with KotOR3 soon as K2 was a hit? Just dont understand these companies sometimes!
  11. cant recall ever seeing it but if I had to guess Id guess either from one of the assassin droids sent after you or a arms dealer on Nar Shadar. Those two seem to make the most sence to me.
  12. Comic sounds interesting (drawing looks great) and since they not focusing in on Revan or Exile it leaves door open for rest of us and K3 Damn LA needs to ok K3 already!
  13. Kinda sucks regarding used games but small price to pay to attempt to eliminate piracy of the games. Thumbs up over all!
  14. Wow Alan, just a few built up issues over those older then you? Anyways, you have your version of WoW, I have mine. No sence argueing about it as it obviously appeals to you and doesnt to me. And yes, WoW has broken all western sales records for a MMORPG (never said other wise) but lets not leave out anouther fact, its also SHATTERED WORLD (not just western) records for largest turn over rate with in first 2 months of activation in a MMORPG. So goes both ways im afraid. On the plus side they have indeed sold more copies then any other MMORPG ever made. On the negative: Its entertainment value (over time) is also more limited then any previous MMORPG ever made. Leave it at that PS: and seak proffessional help for your hatred of those older then you No reason for your envy really!
  15. I noticed that Guess ill have to repost that pic and link to it! Damn guild webmaster anyways for moving it! heh
  16. That's odd. Most people usually agree that World of Warcraft is the best thing that's happened to MMORPG's so far. I'd say it's a great game. I never liked strategy games though and Diablo (both of them) suck in my opinion, so.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> heh, all depends who you talk to. I was around for the original MMORPG and have played pretty much everyone since. World of Warcraft to me is just a travisty showing how far the original concept of the genre has fallen. MMORPGs are suppose to be about adventure, excitement, questing, ect. Much the same feeling as you get from playing K1 or K2 but in a multiplayer atmoshpere. MMORPGs got nothing what so ever to do with making sure everyone and anyone can max out in 2 weeks. Punishing those who play more. And all that crap found in WoW. And the saturday morning cartoon graphics turn me right off. As I said, just depends who you speak to. Most of my crowd are older so doesnt appreciate how dumbed down WoW made its MMORPG. Newer players to the genre love it for what ever reason though. In my eyes, WoW was nothing more then a well thought out cash grab. Instant gratification for the no patience crowd and their parents disposable money. Cant blame Blizzard (as a company) for doing such a thing but doesnt mean I have to respect them for it and their greed will (far as this ONE consumer concerned) cause me to seriously rethink buying their future products with out solid first hand experience and info on them, prior to purchase. Not my cup of tea I prefer content and quality over flashy cartoons and free give aways.
  17. heh im replaying K1 and 2 on my Xbox With occational outings in Civ 4 (PC) when the lag of game doesnt drive me batty! *sighs* Im so ready for K3!!!!!!!
  18. heh, Mass Effects sold me on XBox. Hook line and sinker. Would I prefer it was anouther SW trilogy? Sure! But one has to make do with what they handed and ME just looks to be so awsome I cant wait. Not to mention knowing JE2 will also be on XBox 360 doesnt hurt! heh Now Obsidian just needs to announce KotOR3 and ill be like a kid in a candy store
  19. LOL, K1 and 2 are there. Look under Star Wars: Knights of Old Republic heading as is Jade Empire and no surprise Morrowwind not there really, it was released originally in 96. Just to outta date.
  20. Spoiled my self and bought a Hitachi 60" wide screen HD TV, rear projection TV. But beyond the screen size (which was the huge selling point! heh), all its options are standard on any LCD/plasma TV on the market (I shopped around alot before buying). All the new Plasma and LCD rear projection (and flat screens) can be used as a computer monitor, have great resolution (long as TV channel, DVD, console system, computer utilize it). For example, normal channels on TV run at 480 resolution (as meta posted), HD channels run at 720 and 1080 resolution. Certain DvDs also run that high where as others do infact run at lower resolution, just depends on maker and product. Regarding console games, if you purchase a $20.00 HD connection (and game supports HD) you can run the game at SIGNIFIGANTLY higher resolution then what normal folks see on their TV for a console. IE: See above resolution quotes. For Computers, you just need to buy the compatable connection that works with your specific video card to use TV as a monitor. The reason I asked about computer for this TV actually was because of this message board last year. Last year (before it blew) I had a sony 42" rear projection and someone here posted I could run computer through it (I couldnt, to old a model). But its standard procedure now for the newer TVs to support this option. Just drop into any Sony (or electronics store) and ask, they will verify EVERYTHING I just stated. Regarding price: I bought a demo so got a great deal ( I admit it, price dropped $1000.00) BUT even still my 60" TV costed 1k more then my 19" flat screen monitor I purchased a year ago. That alone pretty much ends the financial aspect of discussion. How much extra would a computer monitor cost for 41 additional inches of screen size? ALOT more then 1k or 2k, thats for sure.
  21. It gives people to talk about. More cheese with that whine? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yas know, at first I just laughed when I read this thread and it didnt bother me. But in hindsite its a negative becau se due to the interface and lack of interaction NPCs have with PCs in SWG, there is no way they can make the HK character as engaging and witty as he is in KotOR1 or 2. They have done a real disservice to the character by adding him into SWG. But SWG is so devoid of original content to begin with really. It shouldnt surprise anyone he was added.
  22. Currently only Bioware gets the benefit of the doubt regarding games from me. If im on the edge not sure to buy or not, Biowares previous products will push my in the favor of buying. Beyond that, I really dont think there is a GREAT game studio out there. Obsidian did great with KotOR2 ( personal opinion) but need far more successful titles to sway someone. Blizzard was good but then they created that POS called World of Warcraft and pretty much lost all respect from me cause of it. Only other studio I can think of (in the old old past) was SSI RPGs. Those I would buy soon as I saw. Really cant say the same about any other studios to be honest.
  23. Not a single one I had on my list o' games either. Microsoft can keep their Hexbox 1.5 Looks like Sony may get my money again after all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> heh, welp its got 4 of my games listed in that list so thats kinda cool But its the games coming out that make me want the XBox 360, rather then the games already released on old XBox. Definately will pick XBox 360 up once price drops in ayear or so. Which is good as I try not to give Sony any of my money if at all possible at the best of times!
  24. Of course, with a console you're further away from the screen,so you don't really notice the low resolution eg Morrowind on the X-Box looks better than the PC version at the same resolution. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can get a projector for my PC, so that I can re-define being "immersed" in the game. :D Next, I want a force-tactile feedback suit and dimensional suspension array (like in Lawnmower Man), and a sensation-feedback pulse into my brain ... " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yas know, its interesting as I forgot one of the main selling features I requested for before buying (regarding my TV). It CAN be used as a computer monitor (with out damaging it) and run any CURRENT video card settings. So again I gotta wonder where you get your info from. Sounds to me like the new (with in last 2 years as I bought a 18 month old demo) HD TVs can infact do everything you claim they cant. Guess Ill have to get off me arse and buy the proper $10.00 connection (so can hook puter to TV) and try it out for final verification. PS: and yes, that stuff from Lawnmower man would be awsome. Kinda weird really, I tried out a virtual reality (you stood inside a half arch type deal and movement was controled by your actual movements inside a very basic video game setting) over a decade ago. Kinda weird they havent advanced it into common market yet with the tech advances over last 10 years. Just a observation totally off topic
