  1. I am one of those hardcore fans. I am pretty sure that only works for grand strategy games that you will be playing for years and are constantly being worked on. I don't mind funding work continually being done to tweak the game. So it is fine for us, but yes that would suck outside of that specific content.
  2. I just want the return of the plumed helmet. My main character looked great in it.
  3. Except it is not a skirt. It is just how armor looks. And she is wearing leg armor so I think most Catholic schools would let her in, but probably be curious why she is so paranoid for her personal safety.
  4. Miniskirt wearing? Please she is no more wearing a dress or skirt than Aloth or Eder.
  5. Most pirates were unofficially supported by one power or another even if they did not have actual letters of marque. Piracy was actually a rather lucrative investment at the time. So plenty of pirates looked like that.
  6. It was all wip, that was never a final rendition. It also wasn't in the style of portraits. As far as I am aware this is the only portrait we have ever gotten of her. The things that made everybody insane was some kind of concept sketch.
  7. Huh. How did you get that impression? I recall the promotions saying it was a world where the evil overlord won but I do not recall it ever saying you would be evil. "Playing evil is fun" and "how to play a convicing evil character" was all they were talking about. Damn well they totally missed the point of that game then. But hey I remember Planescape Torment was marketed as being able to play a guy who is irresistible to the ladies because, and I am serious, you had a magical sex smell or something.
  8. Huh. How did you get that impression? I recall the promotions saying it was a world where the evil overlord won but I do not recall it ever saying you would be evil.
  9. I guess I missed where it was no-heal, permanent-death, weapon-degradation, reset-levels, etc... I thought it was just where it was the regular game system just where you had to ration your resources a bit.
  10. You would never even try it? What if you find out you like it? I would give it a shot at least.
  11. So long as the fact remains that full VO means the story and options suffer I am against it.
  12. Yeah she is there in WM1, in fact she is much easier to get than the Devil of Caroc.
  13. I actually like the fact that Josh prefers non-fiction. I think it helps with his world building. I mean it is not like he is the only developer on these games, everybody brings something different to the table.
  14. The 90s were a special time. Though lots of named NPCs used the fat model and I don't recall any jokes made at their expense.
  15. So in principle Ydwin could be 30 and look like 12, but it would be totally legal to **** her. Isn't that great, manga fans out there? Look I am not a huge fan of the super sexualized character in a serious RPG but are we really at a point where a fairly innocuous picture of a woman with glasses is sufficient to accuse people of liking that character of being creepy sex offenders?
  16. Waaaay back in 2000 they introduced the lizard person race, the Iksar, into Everquest and a big deal was made about the fact the females did NOT have titties because obviously they were reptiles. So people are at least capable of doing it right. Granted Argonians came along first, in 1994, titties and all.
  17. By the way the group in question is called 'GamerGhazi' and Ghazi is a term for an Islamic Holy Warrior and this is now being blamed on 'SJWs'? I don't get that either. I mean is everybody who is not a right wing activist considered a 'SJW' these days?
  18. Well I can see why you like RPGs then. You can, usually, create one yourself.
  19. BioWare games are pretty horribly guilty of the second offense, going all the way back to Baldur's Gate 2. In Baldur's Gate 2, most characters of the opposite sex will literally not talk to you outside of a few pre-scripted one-liners (interjections) sprinkled throughout the game unless you commit to a romance with them...and if you try to demur, welp, that's the end of all of their conversations. Most of the characters period will not. The romance dialog series (which fired off randomly and created some really bizarrely timed conversations) were pretty much the only extended dialogs.
  20. I must have a very high tolerance for cheese since I do not recall ever cringing over the romance dialog. Nonsensical plot gymnastics and bizarre character actions in service of said plot gymnastics are what drive me crazy. Harmless cheese...well...I just sort of appreciate it for what it is but how can it hurt a game when it has very little to do with the core of the game? Though I think one avoided being in a romance in Mass Effect 2 only by suicide. But that was a particularly bizarre animal. But I guess like gfted1 said, we all have our cross to bear.
  21. That is a nice narrative about 'GamerGhazi' and the like but I don't see any evidence Obsidian forced him out nor do I see how it connects to the writing in the games themselves. So far Obsidian has never changed their work in response to these sorts of pressures. There is no outrage or controversy or 'blowing up' that I can see outside of a few threads on this board.
  22. I am fine with it, I even enjoy what Bioware does. But it is not like I need it or anything. It is fluff.
  23. There is no common thread since we only have one proven incident that was not even about defending their own work. How can there be a common thread to something else when you have not even shown there is another incident? You do not even know who this person is.
