So Obsidian Writer Responsible for Eder "Resigns" and it appears this is similar situation to Firedorn Limerick
Valmy replied to CaesarCzech's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Obsidian did not back down because they did not write the controversial thing in question. I don't see why they should go to bat for somebody who is not them. They gave the guy a chance to respond and he did. And that was that. Firing employees over stuff that is not even in your game is something else entirely. You are already insisting you have confirmation that what you say is true when you are not even sure who it is you are even talking about.

Valmy replied to CaesarCzech's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Wait which one is it If its not him ? It seems to me its Definitely Eric Anyways If you are right(Im not sure about that)that actually confirms the rest with writer being resigned because of his views. It confirms nothing at all.

Valmy replied to CaesarCzech's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Claim he resigned, hire him on as contractor. Mob disperses thinking they won, While obsidian is not impacted. Essentially Loudly proclaim he is no Longer in Obsidian, quitly hire as contractor. There was no mob though.

Valmy replied to CaesarCzech's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)There is possibility that Obsidian is just moving him to freelance to avoid the PR from the Gaming Journos who frankly love to play Heroes without actually doing anything. Essentially Obsidian attempt to have their cake and eat it too. I DONT know if its true Its Possibility throught. Many things are a possibility. I don't think wanting to avoid controversy because of some backer fluff you didn't write is equivalent to forcing out people who did nothing wrong besides have views away from work. Thinking one gives evidence for the possibility for the other is more than a bit paranoid.

Valmy replied to CaesarCzech's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Yeah why would you ask somebody to resign because you find their views offensive and then hire them back?

Valmy replied to CaesarCzech's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)His personal info was posted on Gamerghazi, then quickly deleted after he Resigned. i guess they realized this might not look good on them. Hopefully its just Pr move so they can say he is no longer part of Obsidian while he continues to work for them. I really do not want Mccarthism in Gaming, And it doesnt matter from which side it comes imho. What does not look good on who?

Valmy replied to CaesarCzech's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I still cannot believe anybody is upset about some text hardly anybody would ever see one way or the other. Anyway that text that was linked to is tiny and unreadable.

Your Gender/Sex IN VIDEO GAMES, and does it matter to you?
I always play my gender MMOs. I feel like it just confuses people in teamspeak otherwise. I don't really look at my own character very much anyway, too busy looking for mobs and loots.

Your Gender/Sex IN VIDEO GAMES, and does it matter to you?
Uh...I have no idea. I play as both genders. It just depends on what sort of character I feel like playing. If the protagonist is pre-selected I will happily play that character. So...I don't really know how to answer the question. I do not really like to obsess over identity too much, I feel like it alienates a bit from trying to play a character.

Equality?
Pushing an agenda inevitably finds opposition. Even an agenda to hug kittens? I guess if they are not your kittens...

Request: Non-binary player character
Valmy replied to mandolini's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)You could have your sex be 'other' in Ultima III. We will never return to the inclusive and enlightened days of 1983.

Equality?
This has been so common now for so many years how do you know it is activism? It almost seems like a convention. WoW had armies like this and that was way back in 2004.

After PoE and Tyranny, you want to see what kind of fantasy settings that Obsidian create?
The corrupt decadence of the tyrannical regime of steam punk Abdul Hamid II

Devil of Caroc bad art design
I completely reject the premise that the simple act of having boobs is 'sexualizing' somebody. But even if I accepted that premise the Devil of Caroc is creepy and horrifying as hell. As she should be. How anybody looks at her and thinks 'sexy' blows my mind.

Something like Arcanum.

True non-linear open world system concept
When the suits are telling their developers to make 'Open World' games they mean 'Like Skyrim' because it made lots of money so that is now in fashion. It is not, generally, some big artistic goal as to why so many games have to be 'Open World' these days. I mean there is absolutely no reason why many of the recent 'Open World' games should have been designed that way. Just IMO anyway. I, personally, find this trend annoying since even games that should be narrative focused now have to have time consuming open world fluff tacked on. I would prefer it would be like you say, where people make open world games trying to really deliver an amazing open world experienced and games that are not that would be whatever they are. But this is a copycat trend driven industry.
