I thought the failings of the emergency warning system was the major cause of death? That's what was being reported in the immediate aftermath - I remember some very angry people interviewed on TV about it. Admittedly I haven't really been following it since then.
It sounds like there's a serious debate to be had about resource management - I hope it doesn't turn into a city-versus-country shouting match. And be wary of anti-authoritarian folk heroes!
It looked okay, I suppose. I guess I've seen other Dragon Age trailers, though I can't really remember. Are we supposed to be able to play as a character amidst a battle of that scale? It would be great fun but I'm not sure my graphics card is up to it. More likely it's a pre-rendered cut-scene.
If there's something serious going on here that's over my head, please PM me and let me know. Pending that, I'll lock this thread for not being about anything.
If there's one thing worse than an army of zombies roaming the streets, it's an army of zombies slouched on sofas demanding cups of tea and hogging the remote control.
I was living in Vietnam near Hanoi when SARS first appeared there - there were cases in China before, but it was first identified and became a big story in Vietnam. I remember signing up to the World Health Organisation's (daily, I think, or every few days) global email updates. They were actually very reassuring - measured, authoritative, and a good antidote to the hysteria of the media and some friends and family. I hope they'll do the same for swine flu.
I moved a post into the spoilers forum. I don't think Fallout 3 spoilers here are really a problem, but an outline of the entire main quest was perhaps a bit too much. Remember you can use spoiler tags, too.

This site is awesome, by the way. Thanks, Arkan!
There's nothing confirmed about DRM yet. The initial source for the release date also said the DRM would be a one-off internet activation during installation, but an absolute limit of three computers for installation, with no way of de-activating. An Ossian dev posted on the forum that he hadn't heard of this before, and would take it up with Atari. I would be rather surprised if Atari went with something so eye-catchingly draconian, so most likely this is a mistake and we'll get the right info soon.
Yes, and awards also generate more coverage in the 'mainstream press' - I read about the BAFTA video game awards in the Daily Telegraph - and so reaches people who don't normally seek out gaming news. This is important if gaming is to continue its move out of the margins, so that it's normal to know something about games even if you're not an avid gamer yourself.
I would watch awards shows on TV if they were available, or at least I would record them and fastforward through all the stuff about action shooters until I got to a game or developer that I had at least heard of (probably Bioware).
I had hoped to return to Europe and find work closer to home and family this year, but I don't think that's feasible at the moment so I'm staying put. So far, Saudi Arabia hasn't been hit too hard - unlike Dubai, which is apparently in freefall.
Was there ever an underground station so clean? Is that Japan or China? I hope Mike has to chase someone (or escape from someone) through a Japanese underground station during rush hour. That would be challenging gameplay!
