  1. I'd recommend going and seeing your doctor (ideally a doctor who has known you for some time), and here's a reputable health advice site to take a look at for information: NHS Direct
  2. I always thought I would, too. Friends who've done it say it's incredibly tedious, but I always thought I'd be moved by the sense of the history and heritage and the trappings of the judicial system, rights that were fought for over the centuries and all that - rather like walking into the entrance of one of the great museums. I also get quite emotional when voting.
  3. Ironic zombies - could anything be more chilling?
  4. Strange and interesting. We're a technical subculture!
  5. Thanks for that, it's really useful. I've been using McAfee, but have recently had a series of malware infections that it couldn't handle. NOD32 does look worth a try.
  6. If you tell us which vendor, there's probably someone here who's used it and can give you detailed info.
  7. Yes, there are. We're glad you noticed. Now, pull up a chair, and let's talk romance options. I remember Brad Wardell making statements about how wonderful Oblivion was and how he'd like to make something similar, so I'm glad his taste in RPGs seems to have improved.
  8. Good news about Mass Effect 2. The Sims 3 is delayed to the summer.
  9. If you do want to post the contents of the beta, please do so in spoiler tags. There are plenty reading this thread would rather not know more until the mod proper is released.
  10. I'm not touching the leaked beta with a ten-foot barge pole. I'm waiting for the real mod to be released.
  11. There's already a thread for discussing this project. Plus, the original post could be misleading - as I understand it, Exilious is in no way associated with the Restoration Project and the link he provides is to the beta that was leaked against the team's wishes.
  12. Respectful and constructive, please, everyone.
  13. It looked like great fun on TV (apart from the cold - I hope you wrapped up warm). How far away were you from the event itself?
  14. I think he's responding to me. Obama was better once he got onto his own words. Not the most rousing speech he's ever given, but perhaps that's appropriate?
  15. We need to get some of the intolerant language out of our discussions and approach each other in a more respectful manner. There have been complaints, and some the the terms and comments that have been used are not appropriate to a respectful, constructive debate. In other news, a new president was inaugurated in the United States. I watched for a while - did he fluff his lines a bit over the oath, or did I imagine that?
  16. Doubting the awesomeness of Thumper is a one-way ticket to Dire Consquences, laddy. Recant, while you still can.
  17. If you want unreal awesome dudes, you need to specify. How's this?
  18. Oh heck, thats easy. First you take a very real problem like... global warming for example. Then you pay a cabal of associates to pass themselves off as scientists and experts to denounce it as a foreign lie. Then you convince everyone that you are surrounded by those out to threaten your very way of life, be it foreign powers or homegrown liberal secular homosexual elite, and even though the arctic ice is melting at a rate of knots, it's all wicked foreign lies. You let that simmer for a few years, all the while continuing to stoke up fear and paranoia and after a while nobody will even care what the truth is. As the saying goes, tell a lie often enough and it takes on a truth of its own. Finally, when panic levels have hit fever pitch, you tell everyone you alone can protect the Homeland, all they have to do is follow you. Then they will give up their freedom willingly and you can do whatever you want to them. Of course, there will be few dissenters and non-believers. At first you will discredit them by questioning their patriotism. Your cabal of associates will be helpful here. Then once you have most of the people following you they will shout down dissenters themselves. Once you have the power, you just kill them. Wasn't that easy?
  19. Yes, Sims. Why?
  20. Let's keep this thread for the 'No God' bus, and move Prop 8 discussion somewhere else - start a new thread, maybe?
  21. Orchestral music. Not too sure about electronically augmenting the orchestral pallet, though. I'm a bit of an acoustic purist, I suppose.
  22. Yes. Star Wars lasers and the like. Whatever's up there. The Triffids managed it, or at least the book hinted that they did and it fits Wyndham's general view of mankind bringing about its own destruction. There you'll be, all kitted out with your baseball bat and various machine guns and then zap! - the zombies take you out with an orbital laser.
  23. Because the Islamofascists are marching towards the city and you have to get to the British Consulate and then onto a British Navy Destroyer waiting off the coast? This is unlikely to happen in the near future, but far from impossible. I would take, in descending order of priority, my passport, my wallet (including credit cards), a bottle of water, my laptop, a few clothes stuffed into a bag, some paracetomol.
  24. It's only a month until The Sims 3 comes out.
  25. The founder of Europe's first game addiction clinic said: i.e. that games aren't really addictive but that excessive gaming can be a sign that something else is wrong.
