I've deleted a post from this thread. Cracks are always illegal. When you install a game, you click to agree an End-User License Agreement. Part of that agreement is that you promise not to modify the software. A crack is a modification of the software, therefore you're breaking your agreement and it's illegal for you to continue using the game. Please don't advocate the use of cracks or post links to sites where they can be downloaded. I appreciate that there's a lot of misinformation out there on the internet, and many people genuinely believe these cracks are legal, but they are not.

The only thing that would make this even more bizarre would be if the comic was actually good.

Anyone who plays computer/video games is a gamer, if they choose to define themselves as such. Do MMOs have stories yet?

Is it nine people again? If so, here are my votes. I think we need a round of focusing on the domestic economy: The Campesino, Ernesto Alarcon Mendez As the President of the Union of Campesinos of Chimerica, Alarcon represents the interests of the farmers who produce 80% of staple foods. He will ask for the government to aid, and even emphasize, beans and other staple foods over export crops like cotton and coffee. Coffee Grower, Jesus Cabrales Murillo As the Chief of CHICAFE, the coffee growers' association, he represents the interests of smaller farm producers. As such, he will push reforms targetted at state-run farms, once owned by Farsante but now bureaucratic and inefficient, and pushes for their privatization. Rights Activist, Gloria Mendoza de Lerma As the leader of the "Mothers of the Disappeared," Gloria represents the interests of those whose family members were "disappeared" by the Farsante regime. She will push for punishment of the former Farsante Guard. Industrialist, Tomas Dias Valenzuela As the Head of ACMA, a leading association of businessmen and merchants, Dias will push against workers' rights and the reduction of "union agitators." Trade Union Leader, Hector Ferrera Contreras As the head of the Independent Workers' Syndicate, an apolitical union, Ferrera is focused on workers' rights, particularly the right to strike, as well as on making sure that workers can purchase basic foodstuffs. Shopkeeper, Esmerelda Manzon de Osorio As the owner of the Occidental, the largest marketplace in the country, Manzon represents the interests of shopkeepers across the nation, putting an emphasis on assuring the free flow of goods on the open market. TNC Representative, Andreas Von S. Weiser As the vice-president of International Marketing of Providential Foods, the US subsidiary of Sussag S.A., Weiser represents the supplier of and purchaser of many producers of coffee, cotton, cattle and bananas. Coffee Worker, Sergio Espinosa Castaneda As the spokesman for the Association of Coffee Workers, Espinosa seeks aid for the impovershed, hard-working coffee workers, who often have so little as to be unable to feed their families. The Teacher, Leticia Azurdia de Granados As the President of the Federation of Chimerican Educators, Azurdia will focus on the reform of our nation's education system, which lags far behind that of many other nations.

You're my opposite - I can't abide tearing. I really want to play, and I think I'll schedule it for after Fallout 3 when I need a colourful fantasy antidote to the bleak wasteland.
-
Not large by our standards, no, and video game settlements have always been improbably small. I want New Vegas - the city, as well as the game - to be something substantial, otherwise it's just another patch of wasteland.
-
The view distance made the world in Oblivion feel small in a way that Morrowind never did, though I gather the game world was indeed significantly smaller. I never managed to judge the view distance from Megaton, as I got a crick in my neck from looking up those walkways. But I was surprised that Fallout 3 seemed to be going for a wasteland-y feel, even though it was in a major urban area (or remains thereof). I wonder if New Vegas will go for a wasteland or city feel, and whether you can accomplish both with that engine.
-
Without spoilers, how big did Fallout 3 feel, compared with Morowind and Oblivion? I've only explored Megaton so far, and that's teeny.

They just released Myst for the iPhone, proving that anything is possible.

How do you solve socialisation issues in dogs?

There was a competition and the prize was to be mentioned in an Obsidian game, though now I think about it that was probably Alpha Protocal or Aliens, not New Vegas. If you want to appear in New Vegas, write to the devs and make them an offer.
-
The game is portraying the secret agent world as seen on TV and in the movies not real-life intelligence gathering. I might find it entertaining roleplaying as a middle-aged female office worker operating a photocopier, but would it have mass-market appeal?
-
He was posting in the New Vegas thread a few hours ago, about guns if you're into that sort of thing. Go take a look. Did you win the competition? If so, then Matthew Rorie.
-
How's the vertical sync? And how did you get through the first battle without getting knocked on your face every four seconds?
-
No, no, we don't have to talk about guns, we can talk about something else. Anything else. Tulips! Do you guys like tulips? Sorry, joke, on account of my not being very interested in guns. I strongly agree, and try to practise this myself. After all, I like RPGs and there aren't that many RPGs released in a year. If I manage to talk myself out of liking half of them because of one or two flaws, even serious flaws, I'm only hurting myself. I think a lot of people are the same.
-
Yes! Guns! Guns are... erm... kind of boring, actually. I still haven't managed to play Fallout 3 since arriving in Megaton. I thought the walkways sloped at an implausible gradient and my immersion collapsed. Plus bugs. First silt striders and now radroaches. What is it with Bethesda and large insects? There's some really good dialogue in KotOR2 - good Kreia stuff, good Hanharr stuff. Bodes very well for New Vegas, I think.

I still get security updates, so I guess so. It will be nice to mess around with a new OS without that trademark Vista sinking feeling.
