Windows 7 OEM version
If your motherboard dies and you replace it with the same model or very close to it, that's also fine - I've done this. You have to call Microsoft's activation phone line.

What Are You Playing Now?
I just finished Risen. Very good game, though got a bit too combat-heavy towards the end, but I managed to get through it once I'd made and drunk all those strength potions. It implies a sequel, too. Not sure about replaying immediately, though. I suspect the first part would be very different, but later parts maybe not so much. I might leave it a while.

What are you playing now?
The voice acting in Risen is really very good, definitely the best of the Gothic series and better than many RPGs from Germany or the English-speaking world.

What are you playing now?
All with the same character? I'm still playing Risen: slash thump trundle trundle slash slash oops reload slash slash squelch

USS New York Makes Maiden Voyage From New Orleans to New York City
Were they really? What are they made of now? So what's an assault ship for? What kind of conflict is that likely to be used in?

Britain's budget deficit
That's for the market to show, but how much would you pay for George Osborne? The Conservatives, after initially opposing the idea when Blair introduced it, are planning to increase the number of directly-elected city mayors, along the lines of Boris Johnson. No doubt their enthusiasm will wane when non-Tory candidates get elected, but ho hum. There's an election in Bedford today, I believe, with a close race between the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats.

Good Old Games
The Broken Sword games are great, if you liked The Longest Journey. Simon the Sorceror 1 & 2 are also good, but don't bother with 3.

Britain's budget deficit
Too true! Your deficit's way bigger than ours. I quite often have the TV on in the background at home with a news channel on, and I wish they would stop showing the projected national debt in large black numbers because it makes me jump. We must all remember to focus on the shiny thing.

GamersGate
I've bought two games there and not had any trouble. Download speeds weren't great, but you take what you can get, and they quite often have non-US games before the other major download sites.

What are you playing now?
I went the bandits-in-the-swamp route. Spent the first three hours of the game wandering around in the dark before I figured out how to sleep.

The Nobel Peace prize goes to Barack Obama
We're allowed to express opinions here without being experts, you know.

What are you playing now?
I'm playing Risen. It seems okay so far, though I haven't made it out of the bandit swamp yet. Moderately enjoyable.

The Nobel Peace prize goes to Barack Obama
He really ought to decline it. I hope that one day he does something to deserve this prize, and am still reasonably optimistic that he might, but he certainly hasn't done so yet. It's rather embarassing actually - the prize only serves to highlight how little he's achieved compared with some of the other nominees and past recipients.

Movies you have seen recently
Franklyn: a strange and interesting film, beautifully acted and well worth seeing.

CD Projekt acquired by Polish computer maker
Hmmm. I wonder if Good Old Games is in serious danger.

Machinarium
That was fun, and very beautiful, but I'm not sure how much fun more of the same would be.

Best game themes
Definitely agree with Baba Yetu. Also many others that have been mentioned. Also Laura Bow 2, and . If we're also including non-theme music, then the Dryad dance from QfG5 and from QfG1.

What are you playing now?
So, finished chapter 3 of Tales of Monkey Island. I would say it was the shortest and easiest installment so far, but also the funniest and best-written, and the only one I completed in a single session without getting distracted/bored.
-
What are you playing now?
I'm downloading the third chapter of Tales of Monkey Island, and with some trepidation. The first two chapters were okay, I suppose, but I expect more than just okay from a Monkey Island game.

polanski
I agree with this. There is no such thing as 'rape-lite'.

Dream question
What is the nature of a sword, that it should feel any love towards its creator?
-
Nestle yum yum
I still boycott Nestle. I don't think they've noticed, though.

Dream question
If the sword understands that it is a sword, and what it means to be a sword, how could it possibly love the smith?

Games you are looking forward to
The demo was very pretty. Yeah, didn't really understand how this would work or why it was included, but I suppose some people enjoy such things. Apparently there is a firm 'single player' option, so no biggie. Patched, or purchased? Because I started reading about monthly payments in order to have a train network, and that's just not happening. To be honest, I don't understand what they're proposing in this area, but it's very off-putting.
