The only thing Obama said that was objectionable was the bit about Jerusalem remaining undivided. It's not really for the US President to preempt whatever deal the Israelis and Palestinians thrash out amongst themselves, and both will have to give ground somewhere. That aside, supporting Israel and supporting Palestine are not mutually exclusive. Obama, like most of us, is sympathetic to the difficulties of people on both sides of this conflict. Yuusha, can you say the same?

You can't use zombies as slaves, you know. They're still people with rights. You would have to get their informed consent and pay the minimum wage.

Thanks guys. This is being looked into. If you get any similar messages in future, please PM us and let us know. This thread isn't going anywhere good, so I'm closing it.

I made it through Mass Effect. I still feel that battle I mentioned was the toughest of the lot. A very good game nonetheless. I appreciate everyone's help and good advice. Having finished as a male Renegade, I shall now play as a female Paragon.

Romantic Interest anyone?
SteveThaiBinh replied to SirPetrakus's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Flirting I suppose is confirmed already. A serious romance path? Well, it's not a party game - Mr. McSneakers is pretty much on his own for most of it, I guess, so it might be difficult to achieve the kind of effect you'd get with a romantic lead in a Bond movie. One of the 'girls' he meets should be an old flame of some description - that would be interesting and fun. If there is a serious romantic interest through the game, though, they're not allowed to kill her off at the beginning of the sequel, as other, lesser writers in the genre have done. *is still bitter* -
At last, a game that rewards my tendency to hoard money and only use what I find. I just finished Mass Effect. I liked this game a lot. I don't think I'll bother to write much of a review because it's all already been said better by others, but one thing does stand out (having just watched the ending). I was impressed at how the Renegade/Paragon system worked. I know Bioware tried to get away from simple good v. evil in Jade Empire, but Closed Fist never really persuaded me that it was anything other than evil with a funny name. Renegade felt different and much more consistently implemented, as though all the writers were singing from the same hymn sheet, so to speak. I shall now play as a Paragon.

KOTOR III - to be or not to be?
SteveThaiBinh replied to Pifon's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
We do indeed have a dedicated Kotor 3 speculation/suggestions thread here. Forum policy is to lock all other Kotor3-related threads. -
I haven't had a single crash playhing Mass Effect, despite a very glitchy installation experience. It's more stable than Kotor so far, touch wood. I was just thinking how unusual it was for such a graphically-demanding game to be so stable, especially given how often I'm saving and loading games. That said, I have the downloaded EA Store version, which I guess has different copy protection.

The new European constitution, part deux
SteveThaiBinh replied to Meshugger's topic in Way Off-Topic
It's hard to know what will happen next. I don't see how they can modify the treaty to get the Irish to agree, and I don't see how the other 26 can move ahead without Ireland. -
This is music to my ears, folks. Now I feel more confident that the combat won't prevent me continuing. This is a really enjoyable game so far, gorgeous graphics, great setting and interesting NPCs.

I've just barely scraped through a battle against Matron Counsellor Deanna Troi or whatever her name was and her gang. Please tell me that's as tough as the combat gets.
-
I'm playing the PC version, and as the 'soldier' class, I think it was called - supposedly the strongest in combat, I thought. Thanks for the suggestions, guys, I will try to use the pause button for targetting and that shield power more often. I could still really use some info on how to get my squad not to die all the time - they don't seem to take cover when I do.
-
That would be very useful. How do I do that? Is that when strange coloured jets of light appear and suddenly someone says "I've lost shields" without appearing to have been hit. Because I've had that. It's a bit of a problem.

Once again I'm playing an 'action' RPG and once again, as someone who doesn't play twitchy combat FPS-type games, I'm being made to feel like a second-class citizen in one of my all-time favourite genres. Read: I suck at ME combat. It's really pathetic how quickly I die, and I don't think I'm very far into the game which is presumably going to get harder. It's exactly the same as what happened with Jade Empire, when I think I took over twenty attempts to kill the guys off the boat right at the start. When that happened, I came on here and someone told me how to win at JE combat, i.e. jump around an illogically large amount. So now I'm asking the same question: How do I win at Mass Effect combat?

Interesting companions, please. Sorry, cohorts. Comparable to MotB would be nice. Romance options would be even nicer. :)

I've been out of the loop for awhile

NWN2 (with MotB) and The Witcher are good RPGs. Culpa Innata and Sam&Max (both seasons) are good adventures. -

Please discuss Kotor 3 in the stickied thread here. -
I think I need to play first time as male Shepard. My female Shepard will want to romance Kaidan and he still needs some time to stop being Carth.

There was a boycott? I didn't get the memo! The DRM is annoying and unfortunate, but hardly enough to warrant a boycott. On the other hand, the fact that the stupid thing won't install properly without an hour of fiddling is a clear and present danger to the future of PC gaming and a spectacular own goal from a company that relies upon it.
-
Mass Effect, though I'm still right at the start. It took over an hour to install - that is, to watch the auto-install fail twice, then search for and find the manual installation instructions on the Bioware forums and then un-rar all the files one-by-one. Plus one of the video files reported an error when it was unpacking, so I'm not sure I'll make it all the way through without crashing. EA sucks. Good game, though.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir
SteveThaiBinh replied to Jaesun's topic in Computer and Console
These 'overland' maps (I'm assuming that means like Oblivion) would make rideable horses more meaningful, and they have been implemented for NWN1. It would be popular, certainly... -
It was 47 degrees celsius outside today, and humid too. It was like walking through an oven, or possibly a steam cooker?

The Civ brand works for me so I'm pretty happy and will buy this game, but I've never played the original version of 'Colonization'. I do like the CivIV mode where you all start off on one continent and have to conquer the other after discovering Astronomy - is it anything like that?

Seconded. I was 90% elated as I read through the thread, until I read this: and I hit 100% over the moon!
