Opinion of Team Gizka
SteveThaiBinh replied to Darth Exsilum's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Team Gizka seem to be an excellent bunch of people, and they're doing something for me (i.e. improving a game that I really like), without asking for anything in return. What's not to like? I hope they keep doing what they're doing. I hope they keep enjoying doing what they're doing, and don't let some of the nonsense that's been flying around get them down. There are lots of people really looking forward to the fruits of their labour, released whenever they feel it's right. -
Jade Empire slipped under the radar I guess, but Mass Effect got lots of controversy/free publicity from its sex scenes, gay and non-gay. Who knows if it helped or harmed sales? I think Bioware did it on principle, because they have consistently included homosexual options in their games, not for the publicity. I'd like Obsidian to do the same. With regards to Alpha Protocol, it's a shame given that they had limited your options of defining Thorton as female, that they don't open up the possibility of him being gay or bisexual. Nevertheless, that's not going to happen. Now I'd like to see how they include any kind of gay content - NPCs, for example. This game is supposed to be set in the twenty-first century, isn't it?

Mysteries of Westgate is scheduled for September, Atari says, some time after 1.14 comes out.

I get that too, a lot. The BG1NPC Pack is worth the hassle. Just.

Hello, and welcome to the forums. I love Kreia - I think she's by far the best and most interesting character in the KotOR series. Please discuss your ideas in the stickied thread here. We try to keep all discussion together, so I'm going to close this thread.

This should be a lot of fun, I think. I've really enjoyed the Sam & Max games, and it looks like Telltale is doing really well with their episodic formula - this one will be a series as well. Plus there's this Strong Bad thing coming soon. Telltale promise more info on Monday. Oh, and there's a new Wallace & Gromit film in the works as well: A Matter of Loaf and Death.

That's lemon juice, and anyway I thought we'd settled on 'islamofascists'?

The sexiest preview ever.
SteveThaiBinh replied to Matthew Rorie's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Hmmmm. There were gamers turned off The Witcher for this reason. It's one thing to watch an insensitive jerk in a movie, it's another to be in (sort of) control of one. Maybe Thorton will blink twice and move on, but will I? -
This is a Kotor3 topic, so I'm closing it. Please keep all Kotor3 discussion in the stickied Kotor3 thread.

Hello, and welcome to the forums. In Kotor2 the attributes bonuses you get from crystals, robes etc. are so huge they dwarf your original stats in importance in combat. Your dexterity looks a bit low, but items can increase that. I'd suggest sticking with one weapon until you can get all the two-handed fighting feats. The best way to boost your defence is to play as a male character and hang around the Handmaiden a lot.

Has anyone here played Two Worlds? What's it like? I'm playing Transport Giant, for the first time in years.

Well said. And sorry, our welcoming committee can at times leave something to be desired. Mkreku is right to say that Obsidian's strengths lie in storytelling, so if they were to make an MMO it would have to be a very different MMO to those we've seen before, Hellgate: London included. It depends if they have a good idea, but I'd have to say I wouldn't be all that thrilled if Obsidian announced they were doing an MMO. Just not my cup of tea, really.

What are the skills in this game?
SteveThaiBinh replied to Cycloneman's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
No juggling? You're no-one in the spy community without basic circus skills. -
Was there anything at E3 about the Aliens FPS? I thought it was due for release soonish, before Obsidian's RPG.

This is a great time of year to discover classical music, as the BBC Proms have just started. For those who don't know, the Proms is a series of concerts most nights for the next two months or so, all broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and all available to listen to again for the following 7 days. I notice tomorrow night (Monday) there's Saint-Saen's organ symphony, which has the odd moment of bombast. Holst's Mars is interesting because it seems to depict the horrors of mechanised warfare of World War One, but was written before the war began. If you liked his depiction of war through music, you should probably check out the two great 'war' symphonies of the twentieth century, Carl Nielsen's 5th. Symphony and Dmitri Shostakovich's 7th. Symphony. I'd also strongly recommend Nielsen's 4th. Symphony because it's probably my favourite piece of music ever.

Top secret Walsinghamification camp discovered
SteveThaiBinh replied to Walsingham's topic in Way Off-Topic
What Britain needs is more public-school-educated people. -
That's so disappointing. The KotOR franchise's greatest asset was its storytelling, and now they're making a game in a genre that can't have proper stories. Unless they think they can have proper stories in an MMO?

Alpha Protocol at E3 2008
SteveThaiBinh replied to funcroc's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
The fact that it's not the first game to do it doesn't matter. This is still an important element of an RPG that fans really value, and Obsidian is absolutely right to promote it. -
They really are looking very good now. I agree with Mkreku that I'd like to see a bit more done to the environments to make them look like places that actually exist and are used daily by people, not just put together so that Mr. McSneakers can storm (sneak?) through.

There's a heck of a noise coming from outside - a dog snarling and some idiot shouting about vodka. I could close the window, but instead decide to turn the volume on the TV up.
