I suppose that if Gauntlet turns out to be a smash hit, there might be an expanded PC version released later, along the lines of Fable: The Lost Chapters. Presumably some work on making it PC compatible has already been done, and there always seems to be cut content lying around on the floor these days, so it could be financially viable.

Vrook dialogue on Dantooine
SteveThaiBinh replied to Luke Skywhacker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Perhaps you were playing with the sound turned off? :D Really, the arrogance of the man is enough to start a dozen wars if he were ever let near any kind of peace negotiations. Could anyone so skilled at getting people's backs up succeed as a diplomat? (I don't like Vrook.) The problem is that he just doesn't listen and isn't capable of empathising with the person he's speaking to. It's not a flaw in the game that his response doesn't change according to your words; he's just like that. Everything goes through his holier-than-thou Jedi aural filter to reinforce his prejudices and blinkered outlook. (I really quite dislike Vrook, in fact.) -
The British sailor in charge said that the Russians are more willing to ask for help than five years ago. Apparently it was just good luck that there was a British robot thing prepped and ready to go on a different mission, so it was easy to divert it. The deeps are scary - I was listening to The Kraken Wakes not long ago, and I fear bathies.

It's a worry, certainly. I was stunned when a dev suggests that 75% of Kotor 2 sales were on X-Box in the US, and that excludes X-Box sales in Europe. On the other hand, I'd rather see the RPG genre survive on consoles than virtually disappear altogether (as happened to old-style adventures :'( ). The Kotors show that really excellent RPGs can appear on consoles, and hopefully PNJ will show that even an 'action-RPG' can have decent characters and story. It's a shame I won't get to play Gauntlet, because there seemed to be a lot of optimism about it, before its designers left. I suppose that whether it's really an RPG or not depends on your definition and won't be clear until it's actually released.

Tell me thE ending Of the DS Male and Female
SteveThaiBinh replied to DARTHPON's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Get a replacement disc from the retailer or the publisher and keep playing or start again. This is a good game and there aren't that many good games around, so don't ruin it for yourself. You'll enjoy it more if you complete it yourself. -
Both chopsticks and sporks have their place. Japanese schoolkids are taught to use both (not simultaneously, obviously) without fear or prejudice. Only when the sporkites join hands with the chopstickers and tear down the barriers of mistrusts can balance be restored to the dinner table. Foon? What is this 'foon' of which you speak?

1 kotOR's game for 2 PC...
SteveThaiBinh replied to Don Chewbacca De La Vega's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Check your EULA; this might not be legal. -
Hi. I'm finishing off a regular game of TSL at the moment. When I'm done, I'll install the beta and let you know what I think.
-
Escorting missions can be fun if they're better developed than in Morrowind. All kinds of oddball travelling companions with weird behaviour and demands could make for some good laughs and tricky quests. It would be nice if you could join a Guild of Escorts (no, not that kind of escort ) and make a profession out of ferrying people around. Well, I'd enjoy it.

There aren't really enough rumours going around at the moment to justify a thread like this, but there might be more in the near future. I'd rather we let this thread fade away onto page 2 rather than force the mods to close it. That way it'll still be around in a couple of weeks when the next rumour pops up, ready to play host to our scornful dismissiveness. (I heard a rumour that in Kotor 3, Kotor 2 will be revealed as a dream; at the start of the game, you play Bastila, and wake up to find Revan in the shower.)

As a veteran of many Japanese school lunches, I am definitely a fan of sporks. I can't understand why they are not more widely used.

Do you believe Kreia is Arren Kae?
SteveThaiBinh replied to Sikon's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Enough coincidences to make me think the designers had them the same at some point, but it was probably jettisoned quite early on. -
Oh! I misunderstood your post, sorry. I thought you meant you read information about all this in the game files, not that you could actually restore it. Cool! Why on earth did they cut it then, if it was already complete?
-
Thanks, I'll take a look next time I play. I heard they were planning something like this but cut it. Is it possible there's a mod to restore them, do you think? They (Troika) did much the same kind of thing with 'backgrounds' in Arcanum. Some of the backgrounds were so extreme that I could never find the courage to play them - like the 'sold your soul to the devil' background where you had a big negative reaction from everyone you met. I think I played as a 'Nietzsche Poster Child' once, though I can't remember exactly what that was. :D
-
Ermmm, I think it might be two ranks, certainly not more than three. I'd say it wasn't worth it. Bullets can be pricy at the start of the game, but later on you get richer and it stops being a problem.
-
That may be so, but my understanding was that the BBC, given the success of the two series, pressured them to do more. It would have been easy to give in to that pressure and let the quality slide. They didn't.
-
I heard a rumour that no-one knows anything about Kotor 3, but I can't confirm it. I even looked at the LucasArts website and they don't know anything about it either - this is a really well-kept secret!
-
Nods in agreement. It was a good game, though. I ran it on Windows XP without any trouble as I recall, though that was pre-Service Pack 2. I'm thinking of trying it again next week, and you're right - the story had some very nice touches.
-
Series one, yes. Danny John Jules' portrayal of a cat in human form was hilariously accurate, I think. Series two, maybe. Anything after that was so tired as to be barely watchable. Fawlty Towers would have gone the same way if they hadn't had the sense to quit while they were ahead.

Question about free feats for PrC
SteveThaiBinh replied to Luke Skywhacker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
PrC -
I guess it might have been a good series. It was. The Peacekeeper Wars wasn't up to much, but it's still a shame they cancelled it. So much to look forward to. Not that I know anything about Firefly, except that the movie trailer didn't inspire me with longing to see it. But it's good to know that if I ever really really feel the need for a fix of new sci-fi, there's a whole series out there waiting for me.

How could anyone defeat Kreya?!!
SteveThaiBinh replied to vessum44's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I hope you kept your armband shield thingies. They are useful here. Kotor 2 does this, from time to time. Easy foe after easy foe, then suddenly there's a rather tricky fight and you're not really prepared for it because you've never needed to be. I found Atton's solo fight in the Nar Shaddaa cantina to be much the same. Spend a little time not trying to kill her, but just trying to stay alive through force heal, shields, medpaks, and so on. When you find a rhythm that lets you keep your health up, reload, and try again, but slipping in attacks as well. -
La multi ani, Baley! (??? Is that right? )

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
SteveThaiBinh replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It would be wonderful, but always we return to the same question: source?
