Ooh, look at that blue thingy floating above Norwich. That can't be good. -
KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
SteveThaiBinh replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Isn't that one of the issues explored in the latest movie? Is it justified for Jedi to attack and kill Sith for no other reason than that they are Sith? I'd rather see Jedi attacking a Sith Academy, for the ambiguities involved. After all, there are bound to be children there... Nah, LucasArts would never allow it. -
Cheat problem when meetin Atris
SteveThaiBinh replied to Raith Sypo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Look here and download and install the Telos Academy Imprisonment Cutscene Fix. And welcome to the forums. -
The evening news was fantastic, funny and really satisfying. There was a touch of the same idea in Kotor 2 with the screens on Onderon, but I'd like to see this incorporated into more games. Any modern-setting game could quite easily incorporate ads as part of a radio stream. You would have to set it so that the player couldn't turn the radio off, though.

KOTOR II Wins Best RPG of the Year at G-Phoria
SteveThaiBinh replied to Craigboy2's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'm sure you're right. Thinking about it, I have had it for a while. It shows that 'Game of the Year' is as much about the quality of the field as of the winner. -
KOTOR II Wins Best RPG of the Year at G-Phoria
SteveThaiBinh replied to Craigboy2's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If Bloodlines had been an option, I probably would have voted for it. It's hard for any game set in the Star Wars universe to feel original, even if it is, whereas I was completely new to the Vampires setting and the game was just so refreshingly different. It's a shame Troika folded. I wonder what happened to its employees? Hey, maybe they went to programming school. -
KOTOR II Wins Best RPG of the Year at G-Phoria

This isn't great, I agree. On balance, however, I prefer that Obsidian win awards, gain reputation points, and stay in business, thus ensuring the survival of a developer that is capable of producing great RPGs. -
Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophcy Demo Released
SteveThaiBinh replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
Yes! Support our (flagging) economy! Maybe Indigo Prophecy works better in French or German? Or perhaps Fahrenheit doesn't work in Europe - I don't know how much the temperature measure is used outside North America. Edit: I'm wrong. Indigo Prophecy is the North American title. I wonder why I assumed it was the other way around? Why shouldn't Canada get the European version? Or do Canadians have the same attitude to sex ( ) as people in the US? -
The most exciting/horrible moment in K2
SteveThaiBinh replied to <SP's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
She'll only tell you at a specific point in the game, not in general conversation. And I think it does depend on your influence as well. -
Hi. And what was your previous incarnation? Actually, scrub that, it's probably better if we don't know.

Let's nominate Baley for the Turner Prize.

Yes. It's polite and friendly, as well as being open and transparent. Simply closing a thread without comment doesn't strike me as a better way.

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
SteveThaiBinh replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It would be nice (or at least different) to start Kotor 3 as part of a team or gang that was already established. It would make a change from always starting alone and confused and gaining allies one by one. The relationships with your team could be interesting; there might be romances, betrayals, personality clashes and a dramatic death. Pizza is optional. -
I voted for Darth Pon. Ordinary people are the world's greatest heroes. Experimental monkeys are heroic, too.

I remember killing all the citizens of one town in Arcanum, and earning the reputation 'Butcher of Stillwater'. Nasty. The plot can handle it, but not everywhere. Do you prefer a NWN-style approach where key NPCs are unkillable, or Morrowinds 'The thread of prophecy is broken' (i.e. the game is now unwinnable)? Edit: Maybe if you're DS, you don't deserve a lightsaber. Ever think of that.

Yes indeed. Where else can we find a thread full of spam? Truly it was unique.

KOTOR II Wins Best RPG of the Year at G-Phoria
SteveThaiBinh replied to Craigboy2's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Isn't this their first award? As opposed to nomination, I mean. Congratulations, Obsidian! Now you can call it "The Award-Winning Knights of the Old Republic 2". The subtitle of the General Discussion forum is "Discuss the sequel to the award-winning Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic here!", and now they can change that to "Discuss the award-winning sequel to Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic here!" -
Disciple, Influence and secrets...
SteveThaiBinh replied to Andyr's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
There are indeed things you can learn about Disciple by having good influence with him. Mild spoiler (not advised for first playthrough) The NPCs flitting back and forth between LS and DS is a bug, one which affects different computers in different ways and for which there's no simple solution. It doesn't seem to have much effect on gameplay, other than looking weird. -
KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
SteveThaiBinh replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Jedi in Kotor hide. Whether it's in accord with what happens in the movies, and arguably it's not (although Obi-Wan was hiding in the Tattooine deserts for years ), but anyway, the Jedi in Kotor hide and sneak. Juhani is an example, if you like. So Kotor 3 would be better off following on from Kotors 1 and 2. If you then want to start a new series in the same timeframe, but more closely inspired by the movies, that would work, too. -
I suppose there's no such thing as bad publicity...
-
Sierra games quite often had 'adverts' for each other, now that I think about it. But this is getting onto something much less objectionable, or at least unusual, than what I was originally talking about. The people who'll want to put adverts in games are probably the big companies like McDonalds or Coke, and it might be hard for developers and publishers to turn this down on 'artistic grounds'.
-
Sounds reasonable. Most games come with demos/trailers for other games from the same developer or publisher. Could lead to some weird combinations, like adverts for Indiana Jones in the next Star Wars game.
-
Are you on crack, Steve? I know members of my family (for an example of completely out-of-the-SF-loop) who would be able to identify Darth Vader, but if you meantioned Darth Sidious to them they'd think you got his name wrong, or that you had a speech impediment. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try re-reading what I actually wrote, not how Exmortis misinterpreted it. <_<

A few Questions about Prestige classes...
SteveThaiBinh replied to metzgermeister9's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Hello, welcome to the forums. Your post belongs in the spoilers forum, because you're asking about specific in-game events that might spoil it for people who haven't played yet. With regard to prestige classes:
