The most exciting/horrible moment in K2
SteveThaiBinh replied to <SP's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I found that quite exciting - the first time at least. It was cute to control the remote, and avoiding the beasts was tricky compared to 'Non-event Nihilus'. -
KotOR II Movie/Music Patch Coming Soon
SteveThaiBinh replied to funcroc's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Nope, and they probably would if they had anything useful to tell us. I don't think it's in their hands. If you feel like banging your head against a brick wall, you could email LucasArts. -
It's been a while since I played NWN, but doesn't this mean we have to go back in time so the golem-builders will include a flaw that allows us to defeat it? It's just my time machine's on the blink.

It's interesting that you see the same names crop up in game after game, and most of the actors are very versatile. I agree that there are some excellent voice actors out there who do almost nothing else - in the UK, a lot of them work on BBC radio. If the voice acting is bad on a game, I suppose it's because either the dialogue is so awful that no-one could do it well, the publisher was too stingy to pay for decent voice actors, or the director failed to do his/her job. I hate listening to voiceover when you can just hear the actor is reading from the page without any kind of performance, but that's as much the director's job as the actor's.

A Strange New Trend in RPG videogames
SteveThaiBinh replied to Bobba Fett's topic in Computer and Console
It's a management issue, due to lack of experience. I guess they got overambitious, didn't realise how much polishing was required in the later stages, and ran out of time, though 'Sierra' didn't help (it wasn't really Sierra by this time ). I think it's understandable for a new team working on their first project, and perhaps Kotor 2's poor/unfinished ending was partly the result of the same pressures/miscalculations. Troika's problem was that their games continued to suffer from related problems. I don't blame the publishers for being wary of signing them on again. NWN2 needs to be very low on bugs. -

KotoR 3: Ideas and Suggestions
SteveThaiBinh replied to Fionavar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Specific suggestions, perhaps not. However, we are creating 'buzz'. Talk of hoods, non-human PCs and a cameo return of Revan is common across many forums, and this will be a factor (though not the only one) in decisions of what is included or excluded. -
The great thing about war is that wherever you go, you bring hell with you.

Downloading Kotor 2....
SteveThaiBinh replied to Darth Kevin22's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
When you say his cousin 'broke' his first copy, did he keep the bits? Chances are you could persuade either the publisher or the retailer to replace the disc, provided it's clear you have a broken original. Then you could sell that second hand, and by the time you've done all this, Kotor 2 will be available at budget prices. :D -
Some of the English players may share this thought.

A test is a single match, usually lasting between three and five days. A series usually consists of five tests. Cricket is a real sport with clear, simple rules. Unlike American Football. "

Probably quite Americanised by now. I had a Mexican flatmate who lived on pizza and popcorn.

Do you speak Mongolian? Are there any Somalis on this board? You have to work with what you've got, people! How about the Faroe Islands?

No-one can ever be wholly objective about anything, but the reviews of this biography suggest that they are very diligent in sourcing their work. If they can provide evidence for their interpretation, then I think it deserves consideration. But I don't want to argue this more, since I haven't read the biography yet and so am not in a very good position to defend it. :"> Plus it's off-topic.
-
I don't have a clue what this means, but I think I understand the general thrust of your post. Fair enough. If colours have no objective reality but are merely the interpretation the brain gives different wavelengths of photons, then the two different wavelengths with the smallest possible difference between them would be indistinguishable to the human eye and can not therefore be said to be two different colours. Is that right?

Bored so who did you hate the most from both KotOR
SteveThaiBinh replied to Kalfear's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If you're DS and like role-playing a really nasty character, then Hanharr is probably the best NPC in the game - great dialogue options and great backstory. -
This is just speculation, but the spam that he was spamming was adverts for his English language school. There are some Russians, a small minority on the extreme right, who deeply resent the growth of foreign influence in Russia since the fall of Communism and see these language schools as outposts of Western Imperialism. 'Killed by Anti-Spam Gang' is a great headline, but until the police investigation is complete, we shouldn't assume that was the cause.

We could probably take Hans Island, depending on how many polars bears/penguins there were and whether they offered resistance. I'm not sure we could hold off the inevitable joint Canadian/Danish attack, but we would have the satisfaction of knowing that we brought these two historical enemies together for the common purpose of our destruction.

http://books.guardian.co.uk/reviews/biogra...1499341,00.html http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jhtml...05/bocha105.xml Sadly, I haven't found the time to read Jung Chang and Jon Halliday's biography of Mao, but the revews are quite instructive. Mao was a monster who slaughtered his own people without hesitation.

I'd say quite a lot better, actually. Less memorable, perhaps, but in a good way. But it seems to have sold well enough, anyway. At least, I assume so, since they made a sequel. I started it and played until I think about the middle. It was OK but not great, so I kept playing in the hope that it would get better, but it seemed to be getting worse and I stopped.

What was the original title then?

Interesting to read everyone's take on this. My thought was that they were 'lost' because of the failings of the old Jedi order: the old Jedi (eg. Vrook  ) were too arrogant to take on people past a certain age, too interested in their own affairs to seek out new recruits, too certain of themselves to realise that they were losing followers because of their intransigence. The Exilettes were 'lost' by the Jedi - a missed opportunity if you like. They are the 'True' Jedi in that they represent the more tolerant and inclusive Order that will arise in the future.

Best used as toothpaste. These leaderless terrorists with shadowy structures and ever-changing websites are going to be a nightmare for tomorrow's historians.

KotOR II Movie/Music Patch Coming Soon
SteveThaiBinh replied to funcroc's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Obsidian would be pretty crazy to do that. They'd probably be breaking their contract with LucasArts, and even if not, they would get a reputation for going behind their publisher's back which does no good to a developer. While the faults over the ending and the cut content have been difficult, one thing that Obsidian has done very smartly and successfully is that their public position and LucasArts' have been identical, and neither side has turned on the other, publicly or, I suspect, privately. That won't have hurt Obsidian's reputation at all. -
I suppose there are an infinite number of colours, although the human eye can't distinguish between most of them. Can anyone tell the difference between 16-bit, 24-bit and 32-bit colour displays? I like green. I never really understood why green is the primary colour really, but yellow is the primary colour for paint.
