The small pool of PC RPGs gets a little smaller. On the other hand, this game was acquiring the appearance of a sinking ship. Gamespot says Midway's not doing terribly well financially at the moment.

What music are you listening to right now?

Last night's Prom included a performance of Petrushka, and I'm listening to that. -
Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophcy Demo Released
SteveThaiBinh replied to funcroc's topic in Computer and Console
There's an interesting article about Fahrenheit at Adventure Gamers: Link I'm interested in the concept of 'bending stories' - I wonder to what extent there will be a single 'main' path, and how you will be able to deviate from that. The rubber-band analogy could suggests flexibility or that the game will keep pulling you back onto a single path. I'm glad they feel they've had enough time to polish the game before release. -
50 hours of dialogue, is that right? By comparison, does anyone know how many hours were in the Kotors?

I'm exposed to almost no celebrity media stuff, so that doesn't figure into it. For me, it's basically about how they come across in films, which includes looks but is more about chemistry, presence and the power of the performances. Kate Beckinsale has never failed to impress me, even when the material she was working with (Underworld " ) wasn't up to much.

Is something supposed to happen?

I volunteer to be a beta tester. :D

I never played Ultima IX, although I played some of the others and loved Ultima VII (both parts). I'd like to play this, although I'd have to buy Morrowind, but it will probably be a fiver by the time this mod is completed. But it's a huge project, surely, not too much chance of it really being finished. And won't EA object? I don't know if they're still selling Ascension, but even if they aren't, I'd imagine their lawyers would jump on a mod that was a whole alternative version of the game and would make the original version redundant. Someone said there was an Ultima IV complete mod, but that's freeware now.

You know, I almost bought a copy of PC Gamer today, and now I'm glad I didn't. Thanks for the highlights, meta. Persuasion looks interesting. I hope they've got really good face amd emotion graphics, otherwise it will get very old very quickly, but I'm looking forward to giving it a try. And surely anything has to be an improvement over the dialogue in Morrowind. It looks like a real root-and-branch overhaul from Morrowind, so even Morrowind-haters might want to give it a try, but Bethesda would be wise to release a demo given the hostility that game seems to arouse. I'm definitely looking forward to this.

Little Britain is just a dumbed-down version of The League of Gentlemen. Some of the skits are so obviously rip-offs it's embarrassing. I think the radio version of Little Britain was good, but find the TV series barely watchable. The League of Gentlemen pulls off the gothic funny/creepy thing very successfully, and is definitely worth watching. I never liked Blackadder that much. It had some good moments, but tended to do the same joke again and again as well.

If they're going to give each religion characteristics such as military or commercial bonuses, they're heading into dangerous territory. I would rather they let you upgrade and develop your own religion in the way you wish, so that the religions in the game can be diverse, but not attempting to reflect their real life characteristics. Confucianism is arguably not a religion, in the usual sense of the English word. It's more of a moral code for how to live your life. That might be one reason for choosing Daoism instead. Still, Confucianism has certainly proved to have the power and appeal of a religion. China and Viet Nam are a fascinating blend of Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism and now atheism. Perhaps having Daoism/Confucianism in Civ IV as a single religion would have been best. I wonder if Civ 4 will have communist governments, and how they will handle religion. By rights, communist government are supposed to be atheist, in theory at any rate.

Everyone's choosing TV shows, but as I'm a radio fan I'll do both: TV Father Ted (including probably my favourite joke ever, now in my sig :D Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister Rory Bremner Goodness Gracious Me! Up Pompeii Radio Round the Horne I'm listening to it for the first time, forty years after it was made, and it's still hilarious. Beachcomber By the Way Radioactive Hinge and Brackett Radio 9 Life without BBC7 would have no meaning. :D Edit: And (belatedly) I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, of course. :">

I've been a fan of Kate Beckinsale since I saw her in Uncovered when I was in Spain. I loved that movie, and thought she was great in it, but apparently it wasn't much of a hit.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4088702.stm Multinational companies adapt their morality to the local context. There was a big fuss in Germany a while ago when it was discovered that one of their companies, which was required by German law to involve union representatives in the company structure in Germany, was blocking unionisation of its workforce in the US.

It's possible that 'American' corporations will cease to be American. At the moment, these multinational corporations benefit from being headquartered in the most powerful country in the world, because its government will protect their interests. However, if they want to expand their business in China and Chinese-US tensions are high, they will simply move their HQs elsewhere in the world. It will be an era of truly transnational corporations, without any loyalty to any country.

Getting the idea.... i think
SteveThaiBinh replied to germi91's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Agreed. I felt much the same, though when I joined the boards it was all still quite new and some people were getting a little overheated. :D The cut stuff was originally uncovered by Aurora, local superstar and mod heroine. You can find it here (easiest to read on page 2). Some of the cut content remains on the disc, enough to make partial restoration possible. The restoration team can be found here. There are countless threads in the spoilers forum about different aspects of the game and what they meant and why they were in the form they were. Enjoy the ride! -
Response from America #1 Response from America #2 I like the first one better: Remember that we are not to blame for the Teletubbies. We ourselves were the first victims of Teletubbism.

Yes, you will. Your choice of prestige class has no effect on the ending at all.

It took me forever to see my first Magic Eye picture, but once I'd seen it, all the others were easy because I knew the kind of thing I was looking for. They are interesting, though I never saw one that was actually pretty, so they have limited lasting appeal.

Violence and exploration? Sounds like the old army recruiting poster, "See the world! Meet new people! And kill them!"

I would have thought that as Kotor 2 sold overwhelmingly on the X-Box, Microsoft fans would be the majority on this forum.

Sexiest chic from Star Wars?
SteveThaiBinh replied to DarkAngle's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Padme and Leia aren't real people. Sorry to break it to you. :'( They're just characters portrayed by actresses. Never played The Sims 2, I take it - the effort it took to get the elderly repairwoman to marry me! Worth it, though. I voted for Bastila, without hesitation. The voice grated at first, but with replays, it's grown on me, and she's just so ... dominating.
