  1. Wrong time of day, maybe? Isn't North America asleep? Or we could try Fantasy Cricket.
  2. If you take the Gamespot review as an example, its tone was very lukewarm. The main criticisms were of the graphics, combat and bugs. Troika seem to have got most of the bugs, but when I played the first time as a human character, there was a vital point in the game when my intelligence always sank to 1, and there was no patch available at that time. It was very annoying, but I replayed as an elf and avoided it. I always play turn-based combat unless the opponents are very very weak, so I think the criticism was a bit unfair. That said, the combat in Bloodlines was also criticised, so it seems to have been a common theme in Troika's games. As for the graphics, I think they were just out of date. It came out two years after Planescape: Torment, after all.
  3. It's a shame the Sith Assassins and Sith on Malachor don't use Master Speed. That would have been ... interesting.
  4. Are we talking hockey or ice hockey?
  5. Thanks, this one is a lot better. I figured it was probably my not-very-powerful graphics card (needs replacing ).
  6. Flickers horribly when scrolling - is that just on my computer?
  7. Lots of people like Morrowind - it sold well and spawned two expansion packs, after all. It's definitely worth playing - you're bound to find something in it that you like. For me, the key to overcoming the weak main storyline is to have a clear idea of your character's personality in your own mind, and to take a stance on the politics of Morrowind early on, even if that stance is to play every group for your own interest. Factions are fun. I'd advise getting at least one of the expansion packs, because it makes such a difference to the journal.
  8. Definitely Pazaak. Card games are fun on the computer, passing short periods of time while waiting for something or someone. I never play it in game, now that I have dufflover's windows version.
  9. Don't these people read the newspapers? This kind of thing is happening all the time! And what's the school system doing selling of computers cheap like this? They really can't find a better use for them?
  10. There's a car mod, which I believe is quite popular, though I've never used it, and I did play the 'Virgil the Pervert' mod, but I honestly can't remember if it was any good. I remember three, I think: I always store my stuff in the rat warehouse in Tarant - it's perfectly safe there, and I've never lost anything.
  11. Doesn't that mean it's about to expode?
  12. Mr. Blair, we all know that you don't like cats, and in fact your cat-hating wife was responsible for evicting Humphrey the Cat from 10 Downing Street. The Cats Protection League has its eye on you.
  13. You can cheat and get to the droid factory, but I don't think it's really playable. The Restoration Project is attempting to put it back in the game.
  14. Alas, you need to go to that room to trigger Vrook's appearance in the caves.
  15. Congratulations. I've never seen the site before; I shall investigate.
  16. Indeed. Is it possible not to get him as a female Exile?
  17. You get Disciple if you are female; he joins instead of Handmaiden.
  18. I suppose I'm like half a dozen of them depending on how I'm feeling and what I read, and that's without reading through all the possibilities. I think I have a strand of 'philosopher', but that holds true for many of us at least part of the time, I guess - it's generally quite a positive forum. I fight hard to suppress my grammarian instincts, but occasionally have a relapse. :">
  19. As I don't live in the US, I haven't been able to follow all the ins and outs of the debate over whether Bush lied about the war in Iraq. The case of Tony Blair may be similar, I don't know. Blair has been accused of lying, by the leader of the main opposition party and during the recent general election campaign. The essence of the accusation is this: Blair received a report from the intelligence services that said the evidence on WMDs in Iraq was 'sporadic and patchy', but he then told Parliament that the evidence was 'extensive, detailed and authoritative'. The lie was in claiming certainty when the evidence was mixed and uncertain. Is Bush guilty of the same lie?
  20. The comment about 7 marks is odd, and difficult to account for. The review as a whole does draw attention to perceived positives and negatives. It's a useful reminder of how arbitrary the grading on reviews can be. It looks like the things the game got wrong are things I don't care about or can live with, and the things it got right (narrative, music) are the things that really make a game for me. Excellent! I didn't like the controls in the demo, but no matter - I'll get used to them.
  21. Excellent! Let the debate continue.... *sound of crickets chirping*
  22. My post wasn't intended to be funny; it was intended to raise questions about jags' picture through the contrast between them. The first picture ridicules the protester and celebrates the power of the war machine he faces - whether this is the intended meaning or the picture is an ironic comment, I'm not sure, though the picture could conceivably be used for both purposes. The second picture is often used to celebrate the power of the superficially helpless protester in the face of overwhelming military might; similar images, opposite interpretations. The point you raise is interesting - what would be the effect of photoshopping 'OWNED' over the same picture? Would it matter, in terms of the image itself or with regard to the netiquette you refer to? I regret if I have caused you offense; I certainly didn't intend to. On the other hand, I don't feel my post was inappropriate, given the strong opinions that are being expressed by both sides in this thread.
  23. Visas will eventually turn up. She's triggered when you reach a certain point in the LS/DS scale or when you've received a certain number of Force Points in total, light or dark. She'll probably turn up later than normal.
