  1. Yay, the first patch day of the year. Granted... not much to do other than shutting down batch processing which can be timed and then turning it back on when the Windows updates are through, but meh. I don't mind spoilers that much, even though I remember them, or rather, make no active effort to not remember them. Either the plot twist or development is good enough to work on its own even when you know it is coming or it's not worth getting upset over. If someone told me, before watching Star Trek TNG, that Tasha Yar would die in die first season, well, that's that. It was a completely pointless and random death in one of the episodes that only happened due to Denise Crosby wanting to get out of the show. Having it spoiled as meaningless as the death of her character is. As someone who read the books before the show was even as much as an idea at HBO (well except the fifth one, that came out while the show was already running) I knew all the major plot points already. Well, at least until the show overtook the books, "coincidentally" a point where the quality of the writing took a turn for the worse. That did not change my enjoyment of the show. Hell, sometimes casting choices are a spoiler. When I see Michelle Rodriguez in a movie it's a surprise if her character survives (or a deliberate deconstruction like in Machete ).

  2. Different minds take spoilers very differently, I think. Years and years ago, I noticed that people who get very upset about spoilers pretty much always remember exactly what the spoiler was about, who/what it pertained to, what it would probably mean, etc...so I decided to start making an active effort to not care at all about spoilers. I wouldn't go seeking them out or anything, but if I saw them, I wouldn't get upset or pay much heed. I've since discovered that I'm now basically impossible to spoil unless someone is actually deliberately trying to spoil something I'm currently watching/playing/reading (and sometimes not even then), because my brain just doesn't pay enough attention to it to really fully register it or try to make it fit into what I know of the media. I've given this advice to other people before, but it doesn't seem to be for everyone, . I've watched Lindsay Ellis' several hours-long Game of Thrones summary/analysis, and I'm pretty sure almost none of it would affect how I would watch Game of Thrones (I have not seen a single episode) since I didn't make any mental effort to specifically note any of the character progressions or plot points.

  9. I have the most iron-clad spoiler-protection ever available - poor memory retention/recall for anything that isn't repeated (by ME) 100x in a short period of time. Used to know this guy who, months after seeing a movie, could stand in our living room and still quote entire scenes between characters nearly word for word. This was before the internet, mind you. Most of the time, months later I couldn't even tell you what most of the characters names are, let alone much of anything outside of main plot points.

  10. I know it's not a race between countries, who can stick a needle in as many people in as short as time as possible, but some interesting trends still showing up. I guess it shows which countries has its citizens as its first priority? Also, seriously, wth France? this is inefficiency at its worst or what??? "In the first three days of its vaccination campaign, which launched on 27 December, France inoculated fewer than 100 people. In comparison, Germany had given more than 130,000 vaccines by the end of December. " https://www.bbc.com/news/world-55514243

  11. I don't know about the 3070, but the 3080 TUF OC has a bit beefier power delivery from what I know, while the non OC version follows nvidias reference spec, and it has about 50Mhz higher advertised boost clock, possibly better binning (Which'll not be an issue unless you plan to OC). So I think that since you don't plan to OC you'll get good enough performance from the normal version, I reckon you'll get reasonably similar performance. If the 3070 boosts to 1800Mhz and the OC boosts to 1900Mhz, it's a 5% increase. The STRIX cards generally have better binning, slightly better cooling, more power delivery, more bling. It's their top tier cards generally, mostly for overclockers, out of the box you don't get a noticeable advantage. That said, ASUS stopped delivering 3080 TUF non-oc for a while and focused on only the OC models, so they might've done something similar to the 3070s. Edit; The ASUS 3080 TUF OC that I have, I've temporarily lowered the power limit by 15% since I'm CPU bound, and I generally sit at ~1900 boost while playing Cyberpunk, and that's about 100Mhz more than what I've been promised, and pretty much what the 3080 Strix is guaranteed to deliver.

  12. So, are you a management consultant or did you just have positive experiences with them? I'm honestly curious, no more jokes.

  13. I definitely find her VA one of the better aspects of the game, character wise. Every time I watch videos or streams with the male V, I just can't take that VA's interpretation. He's not horrible, but it's so ... dull.

  16. If I still had access to SyFy, I would watch this for Alan Tudyk alone. Although I'm sure SyFy will cancel it after one season.

  17. When you do the He Waits In Fire quest, you can ally yourself with the Rathun instead of fighting them. If you do, they bestow Magran's Blessing on you before you go find Jadaferlas.

  18. Other people's mileage may vary (and probably does), but apart from a family members failing health (non covid related), 2020 was actually a damn good year for me. So no complaints about the old year from here. Happy New Year everyone. May 2021 be a good year

  19. The character creator in Wasteland 3 is quite limited, so there's only so much I could do to make reasonable Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers facsimilies, but I did the best I could:

  20. ICYMI, I released a mod that turns unique per-rest bonuses into permanent ones so you don't have to be locked into a no-rest run to collect them. Here's the link to the Nexus mod page. Enjoy!

  21. The internet is great because you can always find some picture somewhere to express how you're feeling any given day. That is basically me for several days. ...btw, the 55" TV is already feeling too small - if I want to sit farther away/not at the desk, I mean. What I need is a ceiling rail track mounting system so I can move the TV closer/farther by pulling on it or a handle, like a curtain.

  22. For the CP I drew unique icons for every passive in the game - which makes leveling up less confusing. Also it was a ****-ton of work. That alone should be reason enough for you to install it immediately.
