  3. They might at least prevent the situation from becoming worse...if they're actually available to purchase. All in all, it seems like a perfectly fine performance-for-value card, but AMD kind of needs to be better than that if it ever wants to claw back market share in a meaningful way.

  4. TL;DW: Pure rasterization performance sits, as expected, somewhere between the 4070 TI Super and the 5070 TI, with some outliers where even the 5070 is better and others where it encroaches on nVidia's 80ies models. In RT, at least in titles where RT matters and visually pays off to use, AMD has caught up to, uhm, the 3000 series, posting a pretty good generational improvement. Relative scaling at 4K is hurt by the GDDR6 memory, the 9070 XT tends to proportionally get better the lower the resolutions get. Steve has included FPS per $MSRP charts that don't really mean anything as the 5070 TI can't be found at MSRP and we have no idea if the 9070 XT will be, but the results are generally in favor of AMD, as expected, since they put the 9070 XT at 80% of the RTX 5070 TI's MSRP (for anywhere between 80% to 102% of the 5070 TI's rasterization performance, much less in RT, of course). Yeah, so, uhm, as much es every tech channel seems to like the card, that's probably wishful thinking. I don't think these cards are really going to make a dent in nVidia's market share, but I wouldn't mind being proven wrong.

  5. I am currently at the point in the Face Your Fears Quest where you place the three statue items in the statue. The quest says "Investigate Ryngrim's Domain"... I have all the pieces required and it will not let me place the pieces to continue. I have tried loading previous saves and it still does not work. I am at a point where I believe I will have to wait on a patch for this to continue my run. Stinks because I was enjoying this game a lot.

  7. As @Chaospread said: the more Resolve the better on a tank. I mean that's true for all attributes of course because all defenses have increasing returns and all attributes contribute to a defense value, but Deflection is the one that gets attacked the most and is only influenced by Resolve. High Will is also not bad on a tank because it's really bad if your tank gets flipped by mind control (although you should probably prevent that with a Prayer from the Priest in the first place).

  9. Can the next patch please prevent Kai from suffering from a constant electricity debuff and infecting everyone else with it? After the fight, this should be over and not make exploration unbearable. It would also be really great if the corresponding character would keep his distance from everyone else until the debuff is counted. What's with him harming others all the time?

  11. Dear Obsidian, I have a suggestion on how to make the combat a bit more flexible. While playing Avowed I found that as much as ther is exciting freedom in combining your weapons and magic, there is no possibility to parry with any dual weapon scenario (only sowrd and board and two handers). Please consider adding a seperate parry button/action, so that every melee weapon, regardless of secondary is able to parry. You have character abilities dedicated to this function, it is just such a shame it is so restrictive at the moment. I am imagining a dagger+sword rogue or sword+pistol pirate and it would be great if such setups would allow for parry and not only dodge as defensive non-magical option. On other note, I really enjoy your game so far, thanks and keep up the good work !!

  12. Long time lurker, first time poster. Been replaying Pillars 1 since Avowed came out, and I was fiddling around with a 4 gun switching build with Arms Bearer, Quick Switch and Island Aumaua on PotD solo. While I was disappointed by the power of the build, I discovered some interesting properties about weapon set switching in the process. Switching allows you to replace the recovery of any action in the game. I looked through the forums and I don't believe anyone has posted about this in detail before, and certainly not the bug with switching that allows you to skip the reload phase of a reload weapon. First, the recovery replacing property of weapon switching. As you may or may not know, you can switch weapons at any time during combat. You can do this in the middle of any action, whether it be attacking, spellcasting, using a consumable or any other ability. As MaxQuest notes in their post about attack speed, All actions in Pillars 1 is separated into the action phase and recovery phase. If you switch before the action phase is complete, the action is interrupted, and you enter weapon switch recovery. If you switch during the recovery phase, your weapons switching time is added to the recovery. This is by default 2 seconds, and is reduced by 1.5 seconds by quick switch, 1 second by coil of resourcefulness. Here's where it gets interesting, if you switch weapons after the action is executed (not necessarily after the action phase, as the 'effect' of the action happens usually in the middle of the action phase, again refer MaxQuest's post on frame data) and before the recovery phase begins, you effectively 'replace' the recovery of the action with the recovery of the weapon switch. This can be reduced to 0 with quick switch+coil of resourcefulness. All of that was a very long winded way of saying that if you swap weapons quickly after any action, you can skip the recovery entirely. This exploit can lead to veeeery silly stuff, including but not limited to: - A 3 dex ranger in plate armor with penetrating shots and vicious aim firing arrows at faster than 0 recovery (you can animation cancel the part of the attack after the arrow is fired lol) - A 3 dex wizard in plate armor rapid firing spells - A 3 dex... you get the idea In any case, this is already game breaking, if not a bit micro heavy. I have seen some people alluding to knowing about this in the forums, but nobody has explained it in detail. And although this skips recovery, weapons with a reload phase like firearms can't be exploited to rapid fire... or at least that's what I thought, until hours into my run, I found out you could do that too... With reload weapons, such as pistols and blunderbusses, if you switch to another weapon set, then back to the firearm after attacking, it skips the recovery. Then, if your character is attacking an enemy, it starts the reload for a split second before skipping it entirely. With this bug, you could rapid fire any blunderbuss or pistol or any other weapon of your choice. Curiously enough, the crossbow is the only weapon I haven't made work with this bug. Here is a video showcasing the bug.

  13. So after Dark Souls 3 last weekend, I'm now fully back in Elden Ring... Game got a lot easier by now, since there are lots of walkthroughs and tips and whatnot. Managed to beat quite a lot of bosses, and in general I don't have a too terrible time. Tried my hands on Melania, but... I gave up. This is worse than Orphan of Kos (or some say... kosm). The Orphan at least gave you some chance. Melania is just saying no and I die. However, I've beat Mogh with my chad ash companion Oleg and I'm now in the DLC. Honestly would have never expected to play it (or start playing it), because the difficulty spike that made me stop playing felt so impossible... That said, the art style is still amazing. But I might try to wrap up the base game first, before doing more of that... Don't want to get burned out again.

  16. Hi and welcome! MIG and DEX do the same things for bows or guns: more dmg per hit or faster hits. Because DEX - unlike other general speed bonuses - also does shorten reloading time (as well as recovery time). MIG has an additive effect, DEX has a multiplicative effect on dps. Usually DEX is better BUT if you don't do enough dmg per hit you will struggle against enemies with thick(er) armor. Since reloading weapons usually have the higher base damage it's actually a bit better to invest in DEX than in MIG - and for bows it's the other way round. But on the other hand: if you concentrate on shooting the "softer" enemies in combat anyways (casters of example) then high DEX/not so high MIG on a bow is still great. Having both reasonably high is best, like you did below. Yes, that will totally work. I personally would go for a bit more DEX (17) and take those points from PER (16), but that's not making a big difference. Whisper of Treason is very impactful - but you have to get relatively close. In general Mind Control (confuse, charm, dominate) is the most impactful stuff a Cipher can do. What's also very good is Amplified Wave. Borrowed Instincts and Time Parasite are also very good. "Marksman" is good. Weapon Focus, too. Over the course of the game imo the best ranged weapon for a Cipher is the warbow. But the differences in "power" are almost negligible. It's more important imo what feels cool (and is still valid and good). You only need "Gunner" when you use a reloading weapon (obviously) - but then it's very good. Just note: Time Parasite is a really good dps tool because it allows a Cipher to shoot much faster with bows, but it doesn't do anything for reloading time, only for recovery time. If you do not plan to pick up Time Parasite but prefer to cast CC stuff instead (which is a totally valid approach) then guns/crossbow types for Ciphers are fine. A single shot grants a nice bunch of focus. Usually not recommended often, but don't dismiss arbalests: they have a feature that knocks enemies prone on crit - and that can be very helpful in addition to the damage they cause. They also share the Weapon Focus with arquebuses, so you can always switch between those (if you find let's say a better quality arquebus than your current arbalest for example). There's also a superearly unique arbalest in the game. I do not recommend blunderbusses by the way. On paper they do a lot of damage per shot - but they are really bad against foes with thick armor. And that means that your cipher will really struggle against most bosses and other tough enemies. And that can be frustrating. Other talents you might want to have: Weapon Focus (best impact if it's picked up asap in the early game) Outlander's Frenzy (instead of Time Parasite, only bows) Heart of the Storm (if you pick up the soulbound bow Stormcaller, not before) Shot on the Run (with additional recovery bonuses/speed the recovery when running is actually shorter than when standing, only bows) Arms Bearer & Quick Switch (you can cycle through 3 gun sets at the start of combat and shoot 3 times in quick succession and thus gain a ton of focus, only guns/crossbows) Apprentice's Sneak Attack (always useful for a Cipher who can apply afflictions to enemies easily himself) Cheers!

  21. Strand of Favor etc.: The easiest solution would be to just give those items +2 INT but -4 Will and -12% AoE size instead of +10% to benefical effect duration. Same effect as before basically but no cheese. Maybe the description doesn't even need to change. It's still accurate, even if the way it's achieved is obscure. Edit: I just realized that would only work for benefical effects you apply yourself. Hm. Then maybe make the bonus a bit bigger to compansate. Same with items such as Outworn Buckler (aura) and Cabalist's Gambeson: bonus RES (aura) but -Will and -Deflection would result in the same effect but no cheese. Only "problem" would be the attribute cap of 35 then.

  22. The actual behavior should be: wear SoF, add 10% duration on current effects, put a tag on effects which are extended, unwear SoF, re-wear: if a effect has the tag then NO extension time, WHEN the tagged effect ends then remove the tag. But i suppose it is hardly implementable.
