  1. Looks more like previous Bioware games than the trailer. Like DA:I and the later Mass Effects. Combat looks like what I'd expect when they said it's more into the ME direction from DA:I. Not sure which of the action the PC is taking is something triggered by the player, what is the consequence of some enemy action. The city depicted, Minrathos, certainly seems more high-magic than anything in previous DAs, but I guess that's true to lore. Certainly left me a more positive impression than the trailer.

  2. Just a few pics from my current project. Will make an effort to take some photos of my paint jobs from up to almost 40 years ago and upload later My "work place"... the blue guys are Alpha Legion tactical marines after getting the metallic blue colour (using an airbrush for first metal, then a few thin layers of transparent blue on top). Currently getting an "oil wash", which the black stuff in the little tub. Black oil paint thinned with mineral spirit. The capillary reaction of the resulting liquid automatically flows into recesses and provides a bit of shading on the blue areas. The guys behind them are my "Death Korps of Krieg" Kill Team, getting a few colours. Only just started on them at that point. Behind them some 30 year old Dark Elves from Warhammer Fantasy, barely done more than undercoating in black at that point More Alpha Legion... the rear 5 have had gravel added to their bases and the painting part is mostly done. The bases will get a layer of base coat and then dusted with layers of pigment powder Alpha Legion, Lernaean Terminators. Specialty is infiltration and holding remote objectives. Power Axes and Volkite weapons, except the big gun, which is a Conversion Beamer Will try to make some decent pictures of my old undead, dark elf and Epic Ork armies

  3. You are all dead to me now. Fie. Shoo. I am also aware that I said the exact same thing when @Amentep posted about watching Discovery and not hating it way back when it happened. A special thanks goes to @Zoraptor whose reminder turned my evening from being purely occupied by grinding in Diablo 4 to sharing my brain space and time with the beginning of Discovery Season five. Disclaimer: I will be watching this at 2.25x replay speed, which worked wonders when I wrote my Sailor Moon Cosmos recap. Yum Yum. The Red Directive Yes, that is actually the episode name. Yikes. I haven't even begun to watch, but the title hangs there, ominous in its wording. You know, that situation in a horror film where the protagonist is clearly aware that they are making a mistake by walking down an aisle, or entering a door, or leaving the safety of their room, but they are doing it anyway? Yes, this is exactly like that. At least this is going to be the final season of this travesty of a show that should have never been made. With the possible exceptions of the Michelle Yeoh focused mirror universe episodes, which were just absolutely delightful. Without any further ado, let us begin. Great, the forum just posted my post due to a software update, while it is not finished. At least it is not gone. Freaking forum software.

  4. Not sure whether to post here or in the anime thread... The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, an official feature film coming to theatres somewhere near you this December... ...No, this isn't a joke, this is really what a Lord of the Rings feature film is actually going to look like...in theatres. Well, until it horribly flops and they release it to streaming shortly after, anyway.

  5. With Carrie Patel now confirming that Avowed can be played switching between first and third person at will, and how the art-style and world look in the latest trailer, I am loving Avowed. And this extended gameplay trailer for Dragon Age 4 looks fantastic as well to me. It looks very much closer to Origin than Inquisition, and I like both the way the gameplay is working and the art-style. I'm so happy to have big, amazing RPGs back again without stupid turn-based combat. BG3 can kiss my brown ass. Avowed and DA4 both look awesome. And now with my new computer up and running, I can play them! Oh happy day!!

  6. I am quite far along in Capes. Overall a very enjoyable turn based tactics game. It gets some flack for having specific characters, similar to Mutant Year Zero, Chimera Squad. There are no random missions. You can replay any mission at any time with a different configuration. The story is pretty dark. Years ago a group of villains killed the superheroes of the city and took over. Now the survivor sets op a team of young heroes to take revenge. It is interesting, because unlike many superhero games, there is no attempt to obfuscate the fact your team kills people. They pulled off the powers quite well. The team ups let characters enhance one of their powers with help of a nearby character. The speedster sets fire to where she runs with the help of the fire hero for example. The missions can be tough, but I enjoy figuring out how to best utilise every character to solve the problem at hand. There are people who complain the game is too puzzly. I feel there are a group of gamers strangely entitled. They believe that in a strategy game their strategy should win. In a tactics game their tactics should win. They don't want to work out a winning strategy, just to pretend they are good strategists. History is full of generals that lost battles. They had their strategies, just not winning ones. If they had access to steam forums, they'd have spammed that "Nerf the Roman legion. Slings are underpowered. These Devs know nothing of making a fun war. Why did my cavalry die charging fortified gun emplacements? This war sux"

  7. @Azdeus remember my joke above about the two female Primarchs?... turns out I wasn't the first “You brothers-such a nest of rivalries. I warned him to make you sisters, that it would make things more civilized. He thought I was joking, I wasn't." - Malcador (from one of the HH novels, 'Scars', by Chris Wraight)

  8. Just go play Baldur’s Gate3 or a BioWare game. so many RPG companions became just dating sims, I really, really welcome RPGs with different relationships. PoE1 has my favourite cast to date, and a lot of those characters should wouldn’t be made if they were all datable.

  9. After sitting on my wishlist for ages, I finally picked up and gave a short go to Gloomwood. And intriguing very indy stealth immersive sim, seemingly smashing Thief with Survival horror. Not very deep into it, so very first impressions, but so far it seems excellent.

  10. Starfield - There are some quality of life fixes from when I played at release, and I set it so that I can carry everything. It is going well and I'm enjoying exploring the universe. I am still figuring out how to make a decent settlement, but I am better at ship design now.

  11. LOAD"*",8,1 SEARCHING FOR * LOADING READY. RUN What actually sealed the deal for me wasn't merely the Ultima/Goldbox aesthetics. But rather: This is a horror-themed RPG, in a sense? When did the last major one come out, really? Bloodlines some five football Eureopean Championships ago? You've gotta be sh*tting me!!!!1 Light sources can be switched out for improved stealth chance (that, is outside of the sun). Combat and character mechanics seem straight-forward enough. But then, a lot of oldies used to be pretty straight forward in that. And I needn't even gather my party before venturing forth.

  12. Necromunda part1 The Ratling Slopper. Funny coincidence, I sent photos of this guy to the official Necromunda Facebook when they were asking for community pics. It was not shown and a few months later GW announced a ratling slopper of their own. Obviously I go by the theory that they were inspired by my mini and just don't want to admit it

  13. @melkathi sadly I never got to play BloodBowl when it was new, a few decades ago. But, afaik it's still a "current" game. Awesome gobbos!

  14. Waiting until the finished product with that one. Fallen Aces Full Episode 1 is out on Friday already, though! This may be generally filed under "Boomer Shooter" some. But there was more going on in the fun demo already, and the dev has confirmed the influences anyway... - Fairly open level design, including optionally stealthily routes - Optional stealth that works fairly decent - Quite interactive environments and everything not bolted down being usable as a tool/weapon - In-universe maps, Thief-style, BABY! Whatever the price, this is an offer I'm not going to refuse. Indie gaming is where the new triple-A fun is to be had.

  15. More Avowed news. And more proof of how scaled down the game's been as development's gone on. https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2024/06/09/avowed-story-companion-xbox-games-showcase-2024/

  17. So, just in case you read the half-finished post, it is now fully finished. I just got dumberer from watching the episode. I need to lie down. Good night.
