What is your personal game of the year for 2017?

I have two... Hollow Knight and Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2. I don't think either will win awards or anything like that but they gave me the best experiences.... and I played alot this year :o

Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother?

What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. I'm not interested in your childish games. I need my rest.

Begone! Lest I draw my nail...

Dishonored 2, IMHO.

(Hollow Knight seems to be great though. I've bought it, but have yet to play it.)

Don't think I've played through a game that was released this year. So for games that I played for the first time this year, I think it'd be a toss up between Life Is Strange and MOTHER 2/Earthbound, with the advantage probably going to Life Is Strange for its novelty (e: also, I think I'd have to give a nod to Broken Age as well for being a truly excellent point and click adventure game). There are games that I eventually plan to play that came from this year that might get a proper "best of 2017" from me, though, and they are: Super Mario Odyssey, Cuphead, Hollow Knight, Sonic Mania, and Life Is Strange: Before the Storm.

(e): Actually, I did play through a few indie games on Steam that were released this year, now that I think about it. OLDTV was probably the best of the lot (and it's free, funnily enough), but I would hesitate to give it any best game awards.

How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart.

In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.

I have played the following 2017 games: ELEX, Divinity: Original Sin 2 and CAYNE and Torment: Tides of Numenera. I also rate them in that order.

I didn't play many new games this year, but from the ones I did, I remember the most from Dishonored 2. Despite flaws it's still a really good game.

I was actually disappointed in it.  I thought the first one was better and the second seemed a watered down version that sacrificed overall quality to one story for the ability to play through as two different characters (but where everything other than powers was basically the same).

I also think that two characters weren't necessary, but still I had loads of fun with it. Also I played it pretty much directly after the first game (I played all Dishonored titles this year in one go). Actually I liked Death of the Outsider the most, but sadly it's rather short and the maps are much smaller / more linear.

I've played two games more than anything else this year, Elex and Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

Tales of Berseria is the only game released in 2017, which I have played this year (not counting FFXI-ZA). So it wins easily this trophy :D

I have very big backlog, so I always pick whatever hits my face first, when I open my Game Chest. But I think if I would be playing Yakuza 0 it would win me over. But I do not think, I will get to play Y0 before second half of 2018.

Pubg and Path of Exile: the Fall of Oriath
Basically, Path of Exile is my favorite game, I play it 57 hours a week (by eye). I love to play with sets and poe orbs, and the most I like to use exalted orbs on an item that is cheap, and then you can sell it more expensive. I believe in PoE orbs, I believe in exalted orbs and that's what I do
I really like the Path of Exile and PoE has changed a lot in my life, I spent a lot of time playing in PoE and buying exalted orbs. I do not know many things as nice and successful as the path of exile, that's why I pay so much attention to it. All exalted orbs that I bought, I bought online for the Path of Exile. I also buy Exalted orbs Xbox. Where? In one place ;-) https://odealo.com/games/path-of-exile

I will never be lonely, because when I buy exalted orb I meet many people and it is good. It's a bit like facebook and other social networking sites. It is worth playing in PoE for exalted orbs.

This is basically me, except the only new game I've played this year was Breath of the Wild. I've bought and played quite a few games, but only one 2017 release. (And no, I don't think Breath of the Wild is GotY material.)

Pyre (Supergiant Games; an excellent action-RPG) and Mass Effect: Andromeda (Bioware; action-RPG).

Completed NieR: Automata. The first 15 hours were fun, the other 30 not so much - partially because of unbalanced difficulty and terrible controls, partially because of the plot (no spoilers, but I think that it was rather random and dumb; the unique Game Over screens were interesting). The soundtrack was great, though.

All other games, I've played, weren't released in 2017.

Since Cat Quest (PS4 version) is the only game I bought this year I guess for me it's ... Cat Quest? Meow.

I mean I did play the FF-XV DLC's but I paid for those last year via season pass + they're not full games.

Think the only 2017 game I boughr was Thimbleweed Park. So I guess it'd have to be that.
