Personally, they kept winning against my favorite teams growing up and I'm still bitter and not above kicking them while they're down

What's the deal with Dallas Cowboys? I've seen it referenced everywhere from The Simpsons to random memes.

Make a eurofag understand.

They're a (American) football team that everyone who isn't a fan hates.

Nah, no one hates the Braves. They're harmless. The baseball equivalent would be the New York Yankees. Except when they win they do it with class so it's hard to hate them. I still find a way though

The Cowboys branded themselves as America's team, which is a great way to get most America to make fun of you.  For awhile, they were the Yankees of football, but the Patriots have owned that title for awhile now.

Earlier I started writing a post that sounded good at first but devolved into a three paragraph rant. I deleted it before posting because I like all of you too much to make you read it. But I can sum it up this way, the love of real liberty is being lost in this country. If it isn't already gone that it. The religious right wants a government that will force everyone to behave like they think christians should. The socialist left idolaizes Europe and wants a government that will force everyone into their interperetation of "benevolent" socialisim. The center left & right want a government that makes the world safe for corportatisim and "secure" state where everyone is watched. All of them say they favor small business but nose of them really do because small business can't help them. Where do you turn when you just want to be left alone? The Libertarians. But small good that does when no one listens.

Nah, Liberty isn't being lost ...it just feels that way because of the necessary intervention by the Federal government

End of the day even the Obama\Clinton\Sanders ideal of a prosperous middle class still requires the actual people to work hard...you can't legislate economic transformation

But we yes we do need to ensure big business can do its job :)

Spam it on forums that you don't like.

But I can sum it up this way, the love of real liberty is being lost in this country.

But what is real liberty? I've heard AnCaps argue it's free markets, Left Libertarians argue it's freedom from property(ie being able to work land without paying some guy because he has a piece of paper saying he owns it) and the state, Fascists argue it's the establishment of a home for your nation, and other non-mutually inclusive statements from various ideologies. It seems to me that "real liberty" is determined by ideology rather than being a constant value, which is why the religious liberty folks feel justified in state enforced standards based on theocratic values and calling it liberty.

The socialist left idolaizes Europe and wants a government that will force everyone into their interperetation of "benevolent" socialisim.

The social democrats perhaps, but socialists are more likely to be bitching at each other about whether reformism will work or if a terra cotta proletarian army will spring up and put their special snowflake party with maybe 100 members into power.

I think that Kaine's (strangely in my head it's always KanyeParker) got it right. What you consider to be "Freedom" really comes down to your overall ideology. I would consider it a freedom to not have to worry about how much I'll have to pay on medical and dental bills because the government is handling that. Others consider it freedom to be able to choose their own doctor at their own cost and view it as proof that they've "succeeded" to get the special doctors.

I would consider it freedom to be able to have what's now considered a necessary piece of education without having to pay off two houses for it, and yet to many this idea is bonkers even though we basically did this before when we first implemented public schooling.

Some consider being able to freely purchase guns to be a freedom... I don't want to get shot by the methdealer two blocks from here because I looked at him wrong.

And yes GD, I'd love to grow old, find a woman, get a little shack and not be bugged by the government, but in order to do that, I need the government to protect me from having my entire income hoovered up by various private corporations because "greed is good" and "the free market will solve everything" (which we've seen work SO well with High Speed Internet)

The distinction there is probably that they consider it freedom not to have to pay for others' health care as they would have to under a single payer system. I'm not aware of any single payer health care system where there isn't also a parallel private system which people can choose to use if they wish to so they can still choose to see the 'best' doctors under our system here or get elective surgery or whatever else; they can still get the special doctors and special treatment if they are willing to pay for it.

Yeah, I'd be a lot more sympathetic to that argument if a/ meaningful social mobility existed in the US of today, so "it's their fault for being poor!" wasn't a statement reeking of ignorance and a staggering lack of empathy, and b/ if this freedom didn't cost the lives of actual, living, breathing human beings.

The best measure of any society is how it treats its most impoverished and weakest members.

That things such as free health care and education (and I don't mean any, but the absolute best that society can afford) are even a matter of debate in the US is a sufficient reason it should never speak of human rights in other countries.

Okay, so the latest news of any interest is that neocon - or "liberal interventionist" - extraordinaire Robert Kagan (whose wife is the equally infamous Victoria Nuland) has jettisoned from the GOP and officially endorsed Hillary Clinton.

Flashback to 2014, when Rubio became the anointed candidate of the neocons. Even then, the signs were there that they would jump ship to Clinton.

But don't take it from me, here's Rand Paul saying Clinton and Rubio are two birds of a feather on foreign policy.

Naturally, this has lead to more spotlight on Hillary's lifelong dedication to the neocon cause.

Still, Bernie Sanders offers only very mild criticism on Hillary's so-called foreign policy experience. I really wonder what will happen with the Democratic party in the next few years. Their primaries have been almost completely devoid of any serious disagreements or arguments, compared to the what has happened on the Republican side. I think Bernie Sanders could have won if he had been more aggressive in denouncing Hillary. As things are, he is still using kiddie gloves when discussing how Hillary is bought and paid for by special interests. The fact that Republicans make so much better anti-Hillary ads than the Bernie folks do is depressing, especially since those will dry up now, with the rise of Trump.

Things like Bernie being too soft and not on the attack feeds to my musings about him just being controlled opposition and never really threathening her place as the nominee. But at the same time, he gets almost the same treatment as Ron Paul got back in 2012 by the media (think of the false accusations like the manufactured "BernieBros-scandal"). Maybe the interests just intertwine, or he's just a meek character, who knows. All i can say, i find it amusing that she got 86% of the black vote in South Carolina, compared to someone who actually marched with MLK and got arrested while protesting during the Civil Rights-era, all while she was campaigning for Nixon.

Oh, and Milo thinks that Rubio is a flaming homo. This is hysterical.

Attacking Hilary would go against what Sanders' strategy. As he has stated from beginning of his campaign that he will not smear other candidates but tries to win what he has to offer. Hillary gets run quite freely with his foreign policy expertise because Sanders has even less and his focus is in domestic politics.

Although Sanders strategy not attack his opposition has worked quite well for him, because it was something fresh in US politics and his opponents that attacked him suffered because of those attacks instead of him. I would say that Sanders would not be as serious contender as he is without that strategy.

And GOP side the leading candidate is one that owns every attack against him and makes them seem as his strengths. Which is caused that more Trumps opposition smears him more popular Trump becomes.

You can see Clinton's expertise in politics how she has adopted Sanders like strategy to avoid direct smear towards Sanders and how she has also adopted lots of things from his campaign so that it don't look so unique anymore. Especially as said adoption strategy seems to work for her quite well.
