Steam vs GoG redemption ?

Steam might be the only one to give preload, but GoG gives DRM free version without the client hog, so different people might prefer different things ... what would YOU pick in the upcoming days ? )

I haven't decided yet, still mulling over that decision.  Steam is far from being a client hog though, it is using 64MB of ram, which is only about 0.5% of my 12GB of ram =D

I think I'm going with Steam. I do like DRM free but Steam lets me track how many hours I've played it, etc.

Steam. GoG doesn't allow me to spam my friends' feeds with PoE content. 

 

(that's not to say that I won't buy a GoG version later during a sale maybe)

Probably going with GoG since I have all the Infinity Engine games on it. Plus I think it kind of fits better among the rest of the good old games. Still, Steam's autoupdate is tempting.

GoG all the way. You'll get autoupdate on GoG sooner or later with GoG galaxy.

 

For me, autoupdate is something I loathe a lot. Especially if you have to wait hour or two for few gigabytes big patch instead of playing the game right away. At least PS3 allows you to skip the update if you want to play singleplayer.

Steam. Because I was less than happy with my GoG version of Wasteland 2. Missed a patch, the next one wasn't compatible with my version any more, had to download the full client again instead of a few MB. Sucks if you're on a slow DSL connection.

 

I love GoG, but usually only buy older titles from them.

GoG always preferred. My one problem I had with Steam showed me the error of my ways. I only buy from Steam if I can't get a GoG version.

Both. But at first I'll play on steam for the updates that are bound to be distributed earlier there.

Steam no doubt. I love GOG for older games that don't update often but for new games Steam is great with its fast updates, can chat with friends, etc..

GOG without a doubt. I don't see a point in coating the game with DRM just for the sake of (some) convenience.

I'm getting a DRM-free disc, so my digital edition will be Steam. My internal logic is that I always prioritise owning a DRM-free/non-Steam version, and then take Steam second. If I didn't have the disc copy, I would have grabbed a GOG version.

 

That said, I'd like the opportunity to have a copy on GOG as well. I prefer how easy it is to access their bonus materials (specifically, not needing to have the game installed).

Because Obsidian got no way to offer the installers as a download from their own side! (they don´t got that massive bandwidth)
