A lot of work to do around the house today. Unfortunately I won't be around to do any of it. I'll be in Dyrwood as soon as the coffee maker is done. That line about "No sleep for the watchers".... that was pretty right on.

Oby's ranting is largely harmless once you don't take him seriously. He did parody the hot girls thread pretty well. I don't think anyone reports the threads and instead whines at oby in the thread which is useless. Even so, does it matter that much? And as for the community, heh, right.

Find it funny anti-police posts are off putting to Hurlshot, but hardly a surprise now. Anti American as well, which is not all that new - the Euro contingent does that time to time.

WOT forum seems pretty much the same as it was when I first joined. :p

I just try and tune out certain posters, but I consider this forum less comfortable than in the past. I guess things change. I still enjoy talking games here.

Actually I disagree. The past few years, particularly in the political threads it's a LOT more civil than it once was. If you remember a few years back we had folks Like Krezack, Pop, Nur Ab Sal, I could name a few others who aren't around anymore. Guys like that got really angry and not just passive aggressive, plain aggressive when someone had the audacity to have a different opinion. Hell Krezak said he considered me to be sub-human for being Christian. Nothing like that going on these days. Even Oby for all his (admittedly soft-sold) racism has never been abusive or insulting that I remember reading. Lord of Flies and particularly Yushaa used to post 1000+ word posts about how he wished all Americans would die and stuff.

I've said it may times here. Getting down on someone because their politics aren't your politics is the same as hating them because they cheer for a different sports team than you do. It doesn't make sense (unless they are Yankees fans). I think the debates around here have been a lot more entertaining and less of a bloodsport that a few years back. Just my $.02.

Oh, and Mod team, don't try to pat yourself on the back for that. AFAIK only Fio and Ros ever did anything about any of that. I know Ros did because he got on MY case once!

Stopped by, saw the 'landlord' still hasn't barred the obvious arsehole, drank a half and left.

I am not sure which one Wals is referring to, to be honest. We seem to have an abundance at this time. :skeptical:

Always gets his shorts in a knot over oby, so that must be it.

Yeah it must be Oby,  Wals always use to take him far too seriously and get annoyed.

Community standards create communities.

Mod policy has confused simply having a rule with the messy confrontational business of actually enforcing it. Great pubs let anyone in but they also throw some people out.

Encouraging a fictional racist on the forums isn't just wrong, it's ****ing weird. And on balance I'd rather go into any number of pubs and talk to an actual racist who has the courage to at least be offensive in person.

Today, I trimmed my girl's hair a little bit. I doubt she will fit in a bikini with that bush of hers and ****, but you guys are welcome to try chasing her, she loves the attention.

Tarna, Gorth, Pidesco, Ros, Tigranes... and of course Fionavar. All of them I know for a fact are/were actively involved in moderating this hive of scum and villainy — I even keep PMs from some of those occasions. Just because you haven't seen them slap someone in the face it doesn't mean they aren't there. ;)

Hell, for all the **** I give Walsingham, I seem to remember he was a good mod.

My theory is that this place is less inflamed because United Statians here have either left or gotten used to the vitriol and dgaf anymore, as per Hurlshot. Which is both understandable... and a shame.

So bashing Yankees fans is ok because the Yankees are evil, and bashing someone's politics is similar? Yankees are the National Socialists of sports then. It makes a lot of sense when you think about it.

I do agree in general, despite being relatively new here. Most politics discussions manage to be relatively civil(aside from trolling, which I myself will occasionally engage in), with more effort into making points than calling someone an **** and telling them to **** off. Just my opinion, I'm used to toxic places on the interwebs though.

Hey, Tort, beautiful dog!  Sometimes, I wish I had a dog.  I worry about my cats, but I've seen many dogs and cats actually get along really well.  ...and not just on facebook videos.

Anyhow, the wife bought me a new walking stick when we out yesterday. So, I broke it in with a six mile hike in the hills.  All during that time, making my way up the side and then walking up on the ridge overlooking the splendid San Bernardino valley, I was on my phone trying to push through the relentless number of moderated posts in the PoE fora.  :Cant's eye twitching insane grin icon:

My wife went wine tasting today, so now my goal is to keep her in the cups long enough for a bit of hanky panky, but not to the point she just passes out.  Also I need to get the kids to bed without tipping my hand.  It's a tough task, but I will prevail.

Just remember, Hurlshot, you are a tower of iron will... and your will isn't the only thing that's iron apparently.  <.<

Unfortunately, its an illustration from Wikipedia, mine is mixed breed of such Haski and something unknown, and sort of an ugly duckling compared to this. Although I still love it something fierce, there is nothing like genuine curiosity and affection of dogs, and while I don't have a lot of opportunities to go hike in the mountains, I enjoy jogging with her regularly.

Spent the day with some family, BBQ'ing (I am so full) and doing the family things. Then came home and played another wee bit of PoE. Now considering flopping into bed, because I'm pooped.

And there we go ... beat the "most online" figure from back in Dec. '12. At least the forum doesn't completely crash anymore with numbers like that.

I think it's time for me to go outside again...my brain is spitting out befuddled farts way too much this afternoon.

It's a lovely day, too. I always like this period where we've turned the clocks forward not too long ago so the days are longer but not yet so long that on hot days it stays "too hot" (for me) all night long...

Went to church this morning, went to lunch with friends afterwards, came home to deal with a flood of new posts/threads/flames/fluff. Now, I think it's time for a short hike. Ah, time to hit those beautiful hills!

Went for a walk around our neighborhood. Starting feeling like a migraine was coming and hurried home. Oh god, this sucks. Weird thing was I was smelling something like rotten fruit beforehand. That's a new one for me. Time to go back to the doc again.

In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.
