LadyCrimson Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Outcast devs form Daoka, will build new games in series That's definitely interesting. I never finished Outcast (a frequent syndrome with me....) but it was an intriguing attempt at doing something different and I did like what I played. So I'd be curious what they come up with...altho if they don't make a pc version I likely won't ever play it. :/ “Things are as they are. Bester Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I am told that this is the video that sparked the controversy, but translated this time. What dull communist voice. That's why russian soldiers never wanted to attack the enemy - given commands with this voice they usually felt asleep. IE Mod for Pillars of Eternity: link
AwesomeOcelot Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 The USSR was "freeing" Poland and they certainly didn't turn on the Polish resistance, that's what I got from that video. They also preemptively failed to liberate Finland from the Nazis. The weather and Nazi preparedness has nothing to do with their defeat. Glory to Mother Russia. Stalin did nothing wrong.
Cultist Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Players looking for more XCOM stuff will be interested to hear that something called XCOM: Enemy Within has been spotted on the South Korean classification board as well as the Steam database.

They also preemptively failed to liberate Finland from the Nazis. The weather and Nazi preparedness has nothing to do with their defeat. Glory to Mother Russia. Stalin did nothing wrong. The liquidation of the original Polish Communist party by Comintern prior to the war for harbouring Trotsky-Zinoviev leanings? The Katyn massacre? Or what about the persecution of loyalist Home Army veterans after the war? What about the unstoppable Red Army conveniently halting right at the Vistula just as the last throes of the Polish resistance in Warsaw were being crushed by the SS Dirlewanger Brigade? Edited August 2, 2013 by Agiel Quote “Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.” -Jonathan Littell <<Les Bienveillantes>> Quote "The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete." -Rod Serling
Zoraptor Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 (edited) Dear sir, May I suggest investing in a good quality irony sarcasm detector? (last point is distinctly questionable since the Red Army always had problems with supplying long term mobile offensives and Bagration had already taken them forward hundreds of km over six weeks. It was convenient, sure, but the reasons were militarily legitimate too; nobody blames the western allies for their supplies choking their offence 6 weeks after the Normandy break out). Agiel Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I just hate the idea of anyone thinking their country in any war were angels and denying that it is an ugly business. I would be the first to admit that the fire bombings of Dresden and much of Japan (as well as many other war crimes that it would be pointless for me to list by name) were totally unnecessary and that in a just world men like Curtis LeMay would have been held accountable. As for Company of Heroes 2 I believe that it does enough to venerate the soldiers who were the true heroes of World War II and decries the politicians and generals who do not see the human costs of their actions and who twist noble causes for their own ends.
