I was impressed until I read that everything else was real accept the face, which was superimposed (which it looked like it was)

The face doesnt look anymore real than anything else thats been done with facial mocap the past few years. And they should have pointed out that its the face, and nothing but the face that is CG, everything else is film.

And another thing; its been real quiet about that AMD Cinema 2.0 lightroom thing at SIGGRAPH 08, that a hint that they might have faked* some of their stuff aswell.

Yup, I was at the ATI booth and there was nothing, I even took this pic as proof:

 

 

 

Nvidia booth was so much better tho, they were showing off physx and GPU ray-tracing

I actually think this is the case, have read that somewhere, it's called "image based rendering". Also, see

We did not write these captions. (e.g. "What you are about to see is a wholly computer-generated animation.")
