Guest Slinky Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Long live to Top X lists! In alphabetical order, I really can't put them to best->less best order: Baldur's Gate 2 (including ToB) Whole C&C series from C&C to Red Alert 2 Dark Messiah of Might and Magic Deus Ex Fallout 1 and 2 FreeSpace 1 and 2 Half-Life 2 + episodes NWN2 - Mask of the Betrayer Planescape: Torment System Shock 2
Slowtrain Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Death to Top X lists! But...but....but they are so fascinating. Oh wait, no they're not. OK, you win. Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.
Purkake Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 (edited) Yeah, it's List Wars: Episode 6 - Return of the List. Or List II - The Listing Edited November 21, 2009 by Purkake
Slowtrain Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 in Saw X victims will no doubt be horribly dismembered by hard copies of internet top ten lists. Purkake Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 (edited) Hey, paper cuts are no joke. Maybe they'll have to saw off their leg with extra strong paper this time? Edited November 21, 2009 by Purkake

Musopticon? Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Syberia should be there somewhere, perhaps two times even, you know. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. Nightshape Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Dead Rising** ** New Contender! Beat out Midwinter 2: Flames of Freedom, because as much as I loved that game back in the day it's completely unplayable now. I'd argue that past the general Zombie slaying, a grand second to second experience, Dead rising is "completely unplayable". I came up with Crate 3.0 technology. Crate 4.0 - we shall just have to wait and see.Down and out on the Solomani RimNow the Spinward Marches don't look so GRIM!
Hell Kitty Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Dead Rising** ** New Contender! Beat out Midwinter 2: Flames of Freedom, because as much as I loved that game back in the day it's completely unplayable now. I'd argue that past the general Zombie slaying, a grand second to second experience, Dead rising is "completely unplayable". lol. It's one thing to argue against design aspects/complain you personally don't like parts of the game, but to claim it's completely unplayable, well that's just false. Of course, by putting completely unplayable in inverted commas I guess you don't mean you think it's literally completely unplayable, but not being a mind reader I can't possibly know what your problem with the game is. While zombie killing is all well and good, that's not really the point of the game. Zombies are merely an obstacle, not the real enemy.
MacMichael Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 My top ten of the night. System Shock 2 Master of Orion 2 Fallout 2 Knights of the Old Republic 2 Privateer 2 X-Com 2 Ultima 2 Wing Commander 2 Civilization 2 X2: The Threat I really like the number 2. ... Or not. Though there are still a lot of 2s in the real list. System Shock 2 Master of Orion 2 Fallout 2 Knights of the Old Republic 2 Privateer X-Com: UFO Defense Ultima 6 Ultima 7 Parts 1 & 2 Wing Commander 3 Civilization 4 Going over ten, I'd have to add X3: Reunion, Freelancer, and probably a dozen other games that just aren't coming to mind right now. I'm going to need better directions than "the secret lair." -==(UDIC)==-
Lorfean Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 (edited) In no particular order... Except alphabetically 'cos I'm compulsive like that. Baldur's Gate with Tales of the Sword Coast Baldur's Gate II with Throne of Bhaal Chrono Trigger Dragon Age: Origins Icewind Dale with Heart of Winter & Trials of the Luremaster Icewind Dale II Mass Effect Max Payne Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark Portal There are probably more games that deserve to be on that list, and some which I haven't payed that will most likely end up there once I have, but this is it for now Edited November 23, 2009 by Lorfean Shadow Thief of the Obsidian Order My Backloggery

fastpunk Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Ah, another one of those 'top 10 games' thread. They never get old. So, let's see: Planescape: Torment NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer Icewind Dale + Heart of Winter + Trials of the Luremaster System Shock 2 Thief: The Dark Project Fallout Tomb Raider: Anniversary Need for Speed: Porsche Unreal Tournament 2004 Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II PS:T and MotB are a tie for first, the rest are in no particular order. Lorfean Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Just a hunch but you really like RPGs, right? Well, that shouldn't be too much of a surpise on these forums and, in case you hadn't noticed, is true for most people posting here. So... thanks for stating the obvious? Oner Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 It's also obvious that my post was friendly chatter, but you managed to miss that.. HoonDing Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I'll make a genuine effort now: 1. The Longest Journey 2. Beyond Good & Evil 3. Dune (the Cryo game, not Westwood Studios) 4. Syberia 1 & 2 5. Morrowind 6. Loom 7. Sands of Time 8. Age of Wonders 9. Oni 10. Broken Sword trilogy The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Purkake Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Maybe we need a top 100 list so everyone can fit all the games in there?
Oner Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 No(t every)one would bother comparing every game to be extremely sure which one goes where, Giveaway list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DgyQFpOJvyNASt8A12ipyV_iwpLXg_yltGG5mffvSwo/edit?usp=sharing What is glass but tortured sand?Never forget! Lorfean Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 It's also obvious that my post was friendly chatter, but you managed to miss that.. Hm. Maybe not as obvious as you might think then, eh? Anyway -- I see you rate VtM: Bloodlines pretty high. I assume you play with the unofficial patch? I haven't followed the project in a while, but noticed they recently released v6.5. How much does it alter/improve the game these days? It's been some time since I played that game, and for a while now, I've been tempted to give it another go. Oner Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I didn't complete it with the unofficial patch yet (computer gone kaputt, haven't played it since), Chinatown was the last place I visited. There's some extra dialogue and some changed side quests (poster collection for Gary). Didn't notice much else really. Oh yeah, you can choose backgrounds (black ops, infernalist etc) at character creation.
