The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) For me it's the best movie in the trilogy and it is not even close. The other two movie have many, many scenes that I would just love to skip over, but this one has me hooked from start to finish. The whole sequence in the Mines of Moria is just spectacular.

I completely agree with you.

It's just more... magical.

The other two, although quite spectacular, are war movies set in medieval times.

#1 embodies the fantasy genre to quasi perfection.

I want to see The Mist.

Yes, it'll probably be yet another mediocre S. King film adaptation. But I still must view it ...

I think the Mist looks pretty decent as well. The Edmonton Sun posted their most/least favorite Stephen King movies. I can agree with maybe part of the list, but the exclusion of The Green Mile makes me shake my head a little. And Pet Semetary as the worst? Puh-leeeze.

Blade Runner and Paycheck. Good movie adaptations from Philip K ****'s books.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987) - About the only Holiday film about Thanksgiving that I know of. Anybody know of any others?

Funny film staring the late John Candy and Steve Martin. Funny and sentimental. Loads of classic lines and a bit cheesy, but I like it.

Del: You play with your balls a lot.

Neal: I do NOT play with my balls.

Del: Larry Bird doesn't do as much ball-handling in one night as you do in an hour!

Neal: Are you trying to start a fight?

Del: No. I'm simply stating a fact. That's all. You fidget with your nuts a lot.

Neal: You know what'd make me happy?

Del: Another couple of balls, and an extra set of fingers?

7.5/10

I saw Beowulf last week on IMAX 3D. I had a permanent grin the entire time.

Not a bad list overall tho.

The Mist interests me partly because I heard they changed the ending from the book - I don't know to what, so don't tell me, hehe - and I'm curious about that.

Plus the reviews haven't been toooo bad, so ...

Planes Trains & Automobiles is a great little movie.

The only others I can think of off-hand are "Home for the Holidays" and maybe "Hannah and her Sisters".

Some might have a ending or scene around T-day, but not many where it's the main theme, so to speak.

Blade Runner

That's a great movie, although I have yet to find the original theatrical release on DVD -the only version I have is the darker version found on the Director's Cut edition DVD-...

The new "Final Cut" version has the original theatrical cut, the international cut, the directors cut, and the new "Final Cut". If you get the big crazy version that comes in the suitcase, it also has a workprint version.

Loved that movie when I was younger. Its kind of funny because without that single scene where Steve Martin curses out the lady at the car rental place the movie would have probably been rated PG/PG-13. It really enforced that idea when I saw it on the ABC Family Channel a year or two ago. The edit/redub of the curse-out scene was even funnier!

Thanks, I'll have to keep an eye for that... >_<

I'm being half-dragged to see something called Fred Clause with a friend and two girls.

Err... Hope you have fun... ;)

On the upside, the girls agreed to pay. I feel like a jerk, so I'll order the biggest popcorn they have.

They pay? That means you get to be their little ***** for the whole evening. >_<

It's better than when you pay and still no lip service or even a palm shake. Girls, you can't freakin trust em.

Oh yeah I watched half of OldBoy then turned it off becuase I just wasn't feeling it. Still awesome sound track and stuff tho.

There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. More data must be gleaned and further collated before a sufficient judgment can be reached.

Enchanted:

At about 3/4 the film turns into an ordinary chick flick but with Susan Sarandon completely destroying the movie(as far as I'm concerned anyway). She's still hot and looks the part but her performance in this is terrible.

The rest of the movie is pretty good. Some truly hilarious moments and a really good job from Amy Adams.

8/10(if not for SS it would be a 9)

Yeah well we payed last time. On the upside, (again) Fred Clause wasn't as bad as I thought. It still half-sucked, but it was watchable. It was sorta like Shrek in the sense that they threw in a few jokes only the older people would understand.

The previews for this movie had me almost wanting to see it. There's nothing like the thought of people breaking out into song getting hit to brighten my day. I just feared some of them might complete the songs.

The Mating Habits of Earthbound Humans

and

Stranger than Fiction

Mating Habits was absolutely hilarious the entire time. It's a documentary on human mating habits from the perspective of aliens. Comedy gold. One of my all time favourite movies. My friend told me the female protagonist is a porn star... not sure if he was truthful.

Stranger than Fiction was a great movie. I love the two main characters (Will Farrel and some chick I like) and I also liked the movie in a holistic sense... can't pick exactly why... it wasn't suspenseful as such.

WHAT A STUPID RATING SYSTEM!

Then again, people give lost and prison break high scores, so what do you expect?

Heh if you take a look she's in a bunch of playboy movies. Whether or not she takes her clothes off I'm not sure, but I guess in a way my friend wasn't wrong.

Not exactly a movie, but I bought Rome season one. I saw the pilot episode quite a while ago and wanted to see more of the series. I just need to find the time to watch it :)
