Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, Thread 2

Meh, this game died for me the second I read that they are removing content that was made by Chris Avellone.

There used to be a signature here, a really cool one...and now it's gone.

Don't care much about Avellone, but the moment they removed Brian is where it died for me.

Don't care much about anything, but the moment they didn't release the game already is where it died for me

Here is a summary of the sequence of events of the problems Paradox has had around development, its still in development but the closest the project came to being  cancelled was when the original developers, Hardsuit Labs , were fired

What a shame, Hardsuit Labs made such great games like Killing Floor 2!!! (my favourite coop shooter)

Buy Killing Floor 2 - Xbox Store Checker

Killing Floor 2 (2016) PlayStation 4 box cover art - MobyGames

Thats interesting, I didnt realize they had developed good games

They probably don't have any RPG pedigree, but the they got the atmosphere and action based combat down pat, that's for sure :)

(and a lot of experience with actual, well working coop design from Killing Floor and Killing Floor 2)

Maybe thats why they dropped the ball with this game, they had no experience with making a RPG ?

They have created some smaller games but nothing on the scale of this, Im worried that they dont have the experience to deliver on this prestigious title. And the rumors have been around for about 12 months but I was hoping they not true

I remember their Amnesia sequel was critically panned. Seems like they're good at walking simulators but have faltered when asked to do anything more complex than that.

I played Dear Esther and Everybody's Goneto Rapture and they were both awful.

If you want a good walking simulator go play The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

As for RPGs...I have no idea how such a small inexperienced team is going handle a big game like this.

  • Amentep changed the title to Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, Thread 2

Old thread -

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Damn, that's a little bit of an odd split. 😄

"only when you no-life you can exist forever, because what does not live cannot die."

A game that isn't even dead because it never was alive got into a second thread.

I am taking bets on how many threads we can reach before it either releases or gets officially abandoned.

Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).

It's sad to see it in such a state. Only got round to playing VTMB two months ago in preparation.

To make this thread worthwhile: actual news!

So yeah, there won't be physical editions, plus please feel free to cancel your pre-orders and here are 5 screenshots, three of which are in generic alleys/ sewers. I guess the one with the tree looks kind of interesting, though it looks more like something from the unannounced Thief: tDP remake.

Anyway, please check back in September!

Ah s- here we go again.

Not sure what to think of it. Too lazy to check the old stuff, but looks kinda the same to me.

Against stupidity we have no defense. Neither protests nor force can touch it. Reasoning is of no use. Facts that contradict personal prejudices can simply be disbelieved - indeed, the fool can counter by criticizing them, and if they are undeniable, they can just be pushed aside as trivial exceptions. So the fool, as distinct from the scoundrel, is completely self-satisfied. In fact, they can easily become dangerous, as it does not take much to make them aggressive. For that reason, greater caution is called for than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.

I'm not sure I would go that far. Killing Floor 2 was originally made by Tripwire Interactive and Hardsuit Labs seems, by all accounts, to have only been responsible for the PS4 port of the game.

So according to Wikipedia, The Chinese Room sacked all their employees in 2017 and at that point the company was down to just the two directors working out of their house. In the six years since then they've been acquired, released one new mobile game, and re-released one of their old games for mobile.

Alrighty then.

Interesting change of protagonist. Could be fun.

Hmmm… the developer raises my eyebrows - they haven’t ever developed an actual game, have they? Just narrative walking sims.

Still, show me more.

I'll believe it when it's released.
