I'm not an expert, but numbers I've seen online indicate the Pound (15 shillings is .75 of a pound) was worth about $4.35 in ~1850, which means Cratchit was being paid about $3.26 a week, or in a 40 hr work week 8 cents an hour or $169.52 a year. He probably was working more than 40hrs in a week though...
